Ed prepares breakfast for Kelly
Ed is preparing elaborate pancakes with fruit for Kelly’s breakfast, but she urges him, “Hurry up – we have to open the café in half an hour!”
"Ah, you're sweet!"
When he presents her with the finished article, she gasps, “Ah, you’re sweet!” and he has another surprise for her;
He has booked her into a spa
he has booked her into a spa, which offers pregnancy massage, reflexology and facials.
“You’ve booked it?   Serious?” Kelly squeals, and he says that she deserves it.
"You're one in a million!"
“You’re one in a million!” she laughs, and kisses him.
"What on earth is that commotion upstairs?"
Jason and his mother are sitting down to breakfast when they hear an anguished cry from the bathroom upstairs, “Dai – I’m in here!   Get out!”
"How was I to know Sara was in the bathroom?"
Dai comes down, angrily demanding how he was to know Sara was in the bathroom.
“There’s a reason there’s a lock on the bathroom door!” he rants, “I didn’t know she can’t lock a door properly, did I?”
"You should have knocked"
Diane replies that he should have knocked.
"Look here, Pharoah – I'm not the lodger here, right?"
“Hey, look here, Pharoah – I’m not the lodger here, right?” he continues, “I can shave and shower whenever I like!”
"I'm sorry we're in the way!"
Sara comes in, and informs him that the bathroom is now free;  “I’m sorry that we’re in the way!” but Jason and Diane assure her that they are not in the way.
“If Dai’s not happy, he can move out!” Diane snarls,
"Don't tempt me, Diane!"
and he tells her not to tempt him;  at least, then he would be able to wash properly.
"Where's the washing?"
Then Sara discovers that the washing she put in the basket is no longer there, and finds that Diane has put it out on the line for her.
"Diane's only trying to help"
Jason reminds her that Diane is only trying to help,
"Like she was when she tidied up our bedroom!"
and Sara grumbles, “Just like she was when she tidied up the bedroom yesterday.”
"These cakes are stale"
Brenda is in the café, alleging that the cakes on display are stale, and she will only pay 10p for them.
"You've tried that twice this week already!"
Kelly is unmoved;  “You’ve tried that trick twice this week already,” and is told that she should make some fresh cakes.
"When you're over 60 you can do whatever you like!"
“Once you’re over 60 – only just in my case – you can do whatever you like!” Brenda alleges, and Ed says that she can have the Cream Horn for free.
"I'm going back to Blackpool tomorrow"
She goes to join Cassie on the sofa;  “I was going to suggest a drink in the Deri, but you’ll probably cost me a fortune!” she says, “You can blag a bottle of champagne, so that I can leave in style.   I’m going back to Blackpool tomorrow –
"The hotel's been sold"
“Graham has phoned, the owner of the hotel, and he’s sold it, so I need to find a flat and a job sharpish.”
"That's a sign you ought to stay"
Brenda maintains that it is a sign that she should stay;  they agree to meet at four o’clock in the Deri.
"Why should I apologise?"
At Bryntirion, Dai is still in a foul mood;  “Why should I apologise?   I didn’t see anything anyway!”
"I want to organise a surprise for Sara"

Jason asks them for a favour;  he wants to organise a surprise for Sara in the house later, as she has been through a lot, and they do not do anything together.
"And you want us out of the way"
Diane understands that he wants them to stay away,
"Who lives in this place – us or them?"
but Dai rages, “Who lives in this place – us or them?”   Diane assures Jason that she will lock Dai in the yard if she has to.   Dai informs Jason that Sara is a lucky girl;  “I’ve often wondered what it is like to be appreciated!” and he leaves for work.
"I'll lock him in the yard if I have to!"
Diane says she will get Dai to pick up Ifan from Elinor’s, so as to give them more time together.
Cassie goes to tell Hywel of her departure
Cassie visits Hywel to say goodbye;  “I’m going back to Blackpool tomorrow,” she tells him, “I’ve got things to sort out – and I’ve already stayed longer than I intended.”
"Everyone's loved having you here"
He is quite clear that everyone has loved having her, and wonders why she is going.
"You're in better spirits – who is she?"
“You’re in better spirits today – who is she?” Cassie demands, and he reveals that the current object of his affections is Ffion,
"I've grown closer to Ffion recently"
maintaining that they have grown closer lately.
"When are you going to stop chasing women?"
Cassie recalls, “Angela – Ffion, – when are you going to take my advice and stop chasing after girls?   As long as you’re sure that Ffion is the one, and you’re not looking for some company, or someone to replace Sheryl.
"There's always been a spark between Ffion and me"
He says that there has always been a spark between him and Ffion;  “You’ve been divorced for a while – the spark must have gone out at some point,” Cassie comments, “Is it healthy to go back?”   He maintains that life is too short to play it safe.
Dai is forbidden to go home for lunch
Dai wants to go home for lunch to eat some leftover curry from last night, but is told by Diane he must go to the café.
"Did you know Cassie is leaving?"
Brenda arrives, with the news that Cassie is leaving;  Diane is disappointed, although she knew that Cassie was not staying for ever.   “She wants to go out later, so I think we should make a fuss,” proposes Brenda,
"We shall have to hold a party"
and Diane starts to think about holding a party.
Kelly is attending to the café paperwork
In the café, Kelly is trying to balance the café’s accounts, but cannot find the cash-and-carry receipt, and is becoming rather fraught.
Ed insists he will deal with it
Ed insists that he will deal with it, taking all the paperwork and the laptop upstairs.   Kelly tells him, “I promise, once Babs makes an appearance, things will be back to normal – I know I’m a bit hormonal!”
"Sorry, we've run out – but we do have chocolate cake!"
Sara has just come in, and says that what she wants is another house;  “Sorry, we’ve just run out, but we’ve got loads of chocolate cake,” Kelly tells her, as she goes to get a coffee,   “Things are tough at Bryntirion, are they?” and Sara complains that the house is not big enough for all of them.
"Diane keeps sticking her nose in!"
She goes on, “And Diane sticks her nose in, cooking food and washing clothes!   I know I sound ungrateful, but I just want a house of our own.   We haven’t seen anything yet.”
"I'd enjoy having a housekeeper!"
Kelly remarks that she would enjoy having a housekeeper, and would be taking full advantage of a live-in babysitter.
Ffion enters and sees Rhys sitting there;  “We need to talk!” she tells him,
"Everything was said last night"
but he replies that everything was said last night.
"Come over to the flat after school"
“Come over to the flat straight after school, please,” she asks him.
Rhys just walks out
He simply gets up and leaves the café.
Some energetic furniture-moving
Jason is rearranging the furniture at Bryntirion;
Jason draws the curtains . . .
he closes the curtains and has already prepared popcorn and marshmallows,
. . . then gets a duvet and pillows
then runs upstairs to fetch a purple duvet and pillows.
Ed works on the accounts
Ed is working in the café flat on the accounts when he receives a text,
Angela is getting in touch again
demanding more money and inviting him to play an audio file;  he does so,
He listens to the recording of his own voice
and listens to a recording of his own voice.   “You’ve no idea what I’ve been through – I thought I’d killed you.   The guilt – how could you be so cruel?”
Kason wants to show how much he appreciates Sara
Jason has finished his rearrangement as Sara arrives home, and she wonders what he is doing.   “Just something to show you how much I appreciate you, that’s all,” he replies,
"I thought I'd bring the cinema to you!"
“We haven’t had a chance to go out for a while, so I thought I’d bring the cinema to you.”   They hug each other,

as he adds, “Don’t worry – Mam and Dai won’t be back for hours.”
Rhys approaches, Ffion's . . .
Rhys approaches the door of Cysgod y Glyn
. . . and presses the buzzer
and presses the buzzer;  he is admitted by Ffion and asks what she wants.
"You know what I want!"
“You know what I want!” she answers, “I don’t understand why you’ve changed.”
He says that he realises how selfish they have been, but Ffion insists that they understand each other;  “What about Dad?” says Rhys, “He’s not going to understand – and every affair comes out in the end.”
"We're both single and having fun"
Ffion is of the opinion that this is not an affair;  “We’re both single and having fun,” but he does not consider it fun to see her with his father.
"Dad doesn't see it that way"
He stresses that Hywel does not see it as simply being friends, although she says she has made it clear to him.
“But he wants more – you have to back off!” Rhys tells her, “It’s not fair on anyone – Dad or me.”
"I'll heep my distance from Hywel . . . "
Ffion agrees that she will keep her distance from Hywel,
". . . but I don't have to do the same with you!"
but she does not have to do the same with Rhys.
"I won't go to the party . . ."
Then a text arrives on her phone, from Hywel, inviting her to a farewell party for Cassie;  she says that she will stay at home, wanting to prove to him that she is serious.
". . . but you don't have to go right now, do you?"
“But you don’t have to go right now, do you?” she asks Rhys.
The hastily constructed banner goes up . . .
A banner has been hung up above the bar, reading, ‘Goodbye Cassie,’
. . . and some bickering is going on
and as Diane and Brenda argue amongst themselves,
"Nefi wen!   You're like a pair of corgis!"
Dai groans, “Nefi wen!   It’s like organising a party with two corgis!”   Cassie is surprised to see the banner,
"We could have a party and Gin club"
and Diane suggests that they could have a party and a Gin Club as well.
Ed and Kelly arrive
Ed and Kelly have also come in, and he says he fancies a bottle of champagne;  “We’ve got a lot to celebrate – a baby on the way –
"And I've sorted out the café's accounts!"
“and I’ve sorted out the café’s accounts!”
"Ffion hasn't turned up yet!"
Hywel is anxious that he cannot see Ffion in the Deri, and Rhys lies that he has not seen her all day.
Sara and Jason are enjoying themselves
Sara and Jason are larking around with the marshmallows, and he protests that he does not like them;
"We're not going to live here for ever"
“We’re not going to live here for ever, you know,” he says, and she is sorry for her attitude this week.
"Anyone would be angry if Dai walked in on them on the toilet!"
“Anyone would be angry if Dai walked in on them on the toilet!” he sympathises.
"How many can we fit into that big mouth?"
Then he decides, “We’ll see how many marshmallows you can fit in that big mouth!”
"We could have a trip every month to Blackpool"
Diane suggests that if Cassie has a Gin Club in Blackpool, they could organise a trip once a month;
Now she has decided to stay
“You might not have to – it’s been playing on my mind all day, and I’ve decided to stay,” Cassie announces, “Life’s too short to play it safe.”
"That won't stop the party"
They decide that it will not stop the party, and Cassie explains that it is probably Cwmderi which has changed her mind;  “I’ve had the worst times of my life here – and the happiest, and my friends are here.
"So why not, eh, Jean?"
“So why not, eh, Jean?” as she raises her glass.
The message from Ffion . . .
Hywel receives a text from Ffion;  “Not coming tonight.   Tired.   Enjoy.”
. . . gives Hywel an idea
He picks up his coat, and informs Rhys that is going to fetch Esther and then go home, as his knee is playing up, but he tells Rhys to stay and enjoy himself.
Ffion is relaxing at home
Ffion is sitting quietly at Cysgod y Glyn, when she receives a text,
The next step in Hywel's plan
alleging that Hywel is in a lot of pain and asking her to come over, as Rhys is not home.
She debates what to do . . .
She debates what to do,
. . . and tries, unsuccessfully, to contact Rhys
and then attempts to make a phone call, receiving no reply, so heads out of the flat.
Brenda says that she used to smoke 20 a day, but cut down when expecting Gerwyn;
"I used to put whisky in Gerwyn's bottle"
“I used to put whisky in his bottle, to stop him crying,” she goes on.
"I've got to go home for a while, Kel"
Ed tells Kelly that he has to go home for a while, as he had a few things to do.
"I want a man like that!"
Cassie remarks that she wants a man like that,
"Sorry, that one's not available!"
but Kelly makes it quite clear that he is not available.
Hywel is getting plenty of TLC from Ffion
Hywel is putting on a great show of excruciating pain, and thanks Ffion for coming;  he says that the doctor is not necessary,
"Is that better, Hywel?"
and she lifts his foot on to a stool.   He leans forward and is about to kiss her,
"What are you doing?"
but she shies away, protesting that she thought she had made herself clear.
"I'm pathetic!"
He describes himself as pathetic;  “I can’t do anything without you or Rhys to help me!   No wonder you’re not interested in me – you want someone young and fit.
"Will I ever feel like me again?"
“Will I ever feel like me again?”
"Your Dad's not feeling well"
Then Rhys comes home, and she tells him that his father is not feeling well;  he collects his phone, which he left behind,

and finds there are a couple of missed calls.   Rhys tells Ffion that she can go, as he will be looking after his father now,
She reluctantly has to go
so she does.
"What do you want for dinner, Dad?"
“What do you want for dinner, Dad?” Rhys asks, “There are eggs here, or I could go to the chippy.”
Where did Ed get all this money – again?
Ed is sitting on the floor in the café flat, with a large pile of money (from whence it has come is not explained), which he has somehow acquired;
It is loaded into a bag
he bundles it up and places it in a bag.
Then he takes a kitchen knife . . .
Then he goes into the kitchen, where he picks up a knife,
. . . wraps it in a yellow duster . . .
wraps it in a yellow duster, and,
. . . and, looking determined . . .
with a determined look on his face,
. . . puts that in the bag, too
puts it in the bag.
"I wasn't expecting you yet"
Kelly is coming up the stairs, and he is surprised to see her back;
"I'm shattered!"
“I was missing you – and I’m shattered!” she says.
"Not too shattered, I hope?"
“Not too shattered, I hope?” he says, and kisses her;
They depart in the direction of the bedroom
he leads her towards the bedroom.
