"Enjoy the Gin Club last night?"
Siôn has made Anita a cup of coffee, and asks if she enjoyed the Gin Club last night;  “I don’t want to hear the word ‘gin’ for a while,” she grimaces.   Siôn is looking on his phone, and discovers that Greta has learned to do ‘peep-bo’;
Siôn has found a video on Facebook
he shows the video to Anita.
He did not receive it from Iolo, but found it on Facebook;
"All this hard work – I don't think it's worth it"
she sighs, “All this hard work we’re doing with the bed and breakfast – I don’t think it’s worth it.   It’s just as exhausting as babysitting.”
"Morawel will be ready to rent out soon"
He points out that Morawel will be ready to rent out soon, so they will have an extra income there.
“Shall we take fewer bookings, and see how it goes?” Anita suggests, “But I don’t want to give it up yet –
"To prove I'm not a 'pushy hostess'!"
“just to prove that I’m not a ‘pushy hostess’!”
"Why don't we invite Iolo and Tyler over for dinner?"
Siôn thinks that they should invite Iolo and Tyler over for dinner tonight, as it would be a good opportunity to apologise to them.
"I don't feel 100%, Siôn"
However, Anita replies that she does not feel 100%;
"The longer we leave it, the harder it will be"
“The longer we leave it, the harder it will be,” he reminds her, and she is forced to agree that they must sort things out.
"Let me help you, Mam"
Gaynor, who is doing the washing-up, tells Izzy that she has much more important things to do;  “I had a nightmare last night that nobody turned up to tonight’s gig – just you, me and the band,” says Izzy,
"The tickets have gone well!"
but her mother reminds her that the tickets have gone well.   “Well, they’re free!” is the response.
"It's going to be a great success!"
Gaynor is convinced that the evening will be a great success.
"I think Britt's been sectioned!"
Izzy is obviously worried about something else;  “When I went to the Deri last night to check on the PA, I saw Britt being taken away in a car – and poor Aaron was in a right state in the street.   I think she’s been sectioned!   I might go over there later to check they’re OK.”
"I'll go over to see them"
Gaynor is working from home today, so insists that she will go over there;  “You’ve got enough on your plate,” she says, “But don’t let that spoil tonight.   Life can be cruel sometimes – that’s why we have to enjoy ourselves while we can – starting with tonight’s gig!”
"Do I have to dress up for this gig?"
Kath asks Ricky, “Do I have to dress up for this gig?”
"Wear what you usually do to the Deri"
but he tells her to wear what she normally does to go to the Deri.
"Have you thought about asking them to come too?"
Then she continues, “Have you thought any more about what we talked about?   Asking them to come, too?   This is not going to sort itself out, is it?
"Give them the chance to apologise"
“Give them a chance to apologise and ask them to come with us.”
"Gran and I are going to this gig in the Deri"
He takes the teapot and puts it on the table;  “Gran and I are going to the gig in the Deri tonight – this band’s playing.”
"Scrounging for money – you can forget it!"
Before he can get any further, Debbie declares, “Here we go – scrounging for money to go out!   You can forget it!   We can’t afford to give him handouts any more – he won’t be able to repay us, living on a nurse’s pittance for the rest of his life!”
"You thought I would repay you?"
“You only gave me money because you thought I would repay you?” snarls Ricky,
"Stuff you!"
“Stuff you!” and he walks out.
"We're skint – so he might as well get used to it!"
Debbie explains to Mark that they are both skint, so Ricky might as well get used to being skint as well – because that is what he will be.
"He only wanted to ask you to come to the gig!"
Kath enlightens her, “All the boy wanted was to ask you two to come to the gig tonight.   But there we go – another chance to make up gone up the spout!”
"Are you coming to the gig?"
In the café, Izzy reminds Iolo and Tyler about Yr Antur’s gig in the Deri tonight;
She invites Eifion as well
then Eifion comes in, and she invites him as well.   Iolo receives a text from his father;
"They want us to go for dinner at Y Felin"
“They want us to go for dinner at Y Felin tonight,” he tells Tyler, “I think he wants to patch things up.”
"I'd prefer to go to the gig at the Deri"
Tyler would prefer to go to the gig, but is reminded, “We can’t carry on like this – Elinor is costing us a fortune!”
"You haven't seen Grandad or Anita for ages, have you?"
Iolo turns to Greta, saying, “You haven’t seen Grandad or Anita for ages, have you?”   Tyler has to leave and will see them later.
Debbie sounds apologetic
Debbie comes rushing into the café, and tells Ricky that she is sorry;  “It was my fault – I don’t know what came over me.
Ricky is sceptical about this
“I misunderstood, and I’m sorry – can you forgive me?   Kath explained that you were only asking me and Mark to come tonight.
"All I could do is accuse you of scrounging!"
“All I could do was accuse you of scrounging.”
Ricky tells her not to upset herself, but she continues, “You have to understand that all I want is what’s best for you – I don’t want you to struggle like I’ve had to struggle!   You’ve got so much in your head!”
"Yes, enough to know what I want to do!"
“Yes – enough to know what I want to do!” he replies, “You have to trust me, Mam.   Look, Izzy’s was in here just now, and I’m sure there are still some tickets for the gig.”
"You still want us to come?"
Debbie is incredulous;  “You still want us to come, after all the nasty things I said?”   He answers that he will have to put up with much worse when he is a nurse.
Gaynor prepares for the gig
Gaynor is getting ready for the gig,
"What are you doing, wearing my clothes?"
and Izzy wonders what she is doing, wearing her daughter’s clothes.   Gaynor is at a loss to know what to wear,
"This Britt business has upset me"
having been upset by this business with Britt.   “You’re welcome to borrow my clothes –
"Just ask next time, Mam"
“just ask next time,” Izzy requests.
Who is Debbie's secret admirer?
Debbie is sweeping up in the salon when she receives a text;  “Can’t wait to see you.   We’re going to have a LOT of fun.”
"We're going to the gig tonight"
She laughs, but quickly hides the phone when Mark comes in, and tells him they are going to the gig tonight with Ricky and Kath.
"I've had enough of arguing all the time"
“I’ve had enough of us arguing all the time,” she says, and he wonders what changed her mind about the nursing.   “Life’s too short not to get along with your own family!” she replies.
Then she returns to the text
As soon as he has gone, she looks again at her phone and smiles broadly.
The meal has gone very well
The meal at Y Felin has gone very well, and they compliment Anita on the food;  Greta has enjoyed her dinner.
"I've been very childish lately"
Siôn takes a deep breath, and then apologises to Tyler;  “I’ve been very childish lately,” and
"Sorry for what I said last week"
Anita also says that she is sorry for what she said last week – and for the way she said it.   She adds that she can behave badly when she is stressed.
"We've been asking too much of you"
Tyler realises that they had been asking too much in the past, and taking them for granted.
"We promise to stick to a proper timetable"
Iolo stresses, “We promise to stick to a proper babysitting timetable from now on – and we’ll give you more warning.”
"I know someone who will appreciate . . ."
Then Anita says she knows that Greta will appreciate
". . . what's for pudding!"
what they have for pudding.
"Don't argue with the 'pushy hostess'!"
When Tyler offers to help clear the table, Siôn advises against it, pointing out, “This is a ‘pushy hostess’ after all!”
Little does Eifion know there is a 'Syb' behind him
At the Deri, the band are tuning up;  Eifion comments, “Izzy has worked really hard tonight, but there’s no sign of her yet.   Who are these Sybs?
"Perhaps they should have stayed on the bench!"
“I’ve never heard of them – perhaps they should have stayed on the bench!”
"Well, I had nothing better to do"
Then she arrives, and he remarks that he had nothing better to do, so came along;  Gaynor will take the tickets by the door, so Izzy is free to mingle.
"You're looking good, Gaynor . . ."
Eifion compliments Gaynor on her appearance,
". . . not as good as you, though!"
but adds, to Izzy, “Not as good as you, though!”
At Y Felin, Siôn suggests that it is Greta’s bedtime;
"I thought you would be going to the gig"
“I thought you would be going to the gig in the Deri,” and Tyler says that they have tickets but have left it too late for a babysitter.   “I would offer to do it, but we’ve both both got tickets to go as well,” Siôn says,
"Siôn's a huge fan of 'Y Sybs'!"
and Anita alleges that he is a huge fan of Y Sybs.   “They’re young and exciting – they won the battle of the bands at last years Eisteddfod,” he states, knowledgeably,
However he cannot name any of their songs
but cannot name any of their songs.
“He’s only going because he wants it to be a flop for Izzy,” sneers Anita, and Iolo says that they have already had their night out, which was a lovely evening.
Then Anita decides that she does not really fancy going out tonight;
"I'd prefer to read Greta some stories"
“I’d prefer to read Greta some stories and have an early night.”   She is very insistent, and Iolo is pleased to agree.   “Once she has woken up, we’ll get the toys out!” Anita tells them;
Off they go to the Deri
Siôn and the boys leave for the Deri.
'Y Sybs' are performing . .
The band are performing, and all those present,
. . . and the event seems to have attracted a lot of strangers
including many young people never seen before in the village, seem to be enjoying it.   “They’re great, aren’t they, Ricky?” says Mark,
Ricky is in a much better humour now
and now Ricky is looking forward to his mother’s party.   “Especially now that we’re a family again,” Mark goes on,
"Sorry for being so stubborn about the course"
“Sorry for being so stubborn about the course – but you’re stubborn as well, aren’t you?”
"They're brilliant, aren't they?"
Eifion also describes the band as brilliant, and Mark points out, “He’s Owen Powell’s son from Catatonia.”
"Ricky's going to be a nurse"
Then he proudly announces that Ricky is going to be a nurse.
Iolo and Tyler, with Siôn, arrive, and congratulate Izzy;
"The Welsh language is for everyone"
“I just want Yr Antur to prove the Welsh language is for everyone, not just the Merched y Wawr,” [Welsh equivalent of the Women’s Institute] she tells them.
"Holding Welsh gigs isn't a new idea"
Siôn, however, has to make his comment, “But holding Welsh gigs in the community isn’t a new idea.”
"I don't see anyone else in Cwmderi doing it!"
Gaynor replies that she does not see anyone else in Cwmderi doing it;  “Izzy has worked hard on tonight, and I think she’s appealed to people of all ages.
"Not with Gaynor, no"
At the bar, Eifion remarks to Rhys that Gaynor is on form tonight, and is asked whether he fancies his chances;  “Not with Gaynor, no,” is Eifion’s reply, then he wonders whether Rhys has his eye on anyone.
"I'm trying to take my mind off someone!"
“I’m trying to take my mind off someone,” Rhys groans, and is advised that the best way to do that is to find someone else.
This mystery caller is persistent
Another text arrives on Debbie’s phone;  “Miss you,” it says,
Does Kath look suspicious?
and she puts the phone away before anyone notices.   Guto is very wary about drinking, with the headmistress around,
"Looks as if the Head has had a few herself!"
and Ricky remarks that the Head appears to have had a few drinks herself.
"Thanks to everyone for coming"
Izzy takes to the microphone and thanks everyone for coming, hoping that they are enjoying themselves;  “Hopefully, with your support, this will go from strength to strength.
Siôn looks at his watch . . .
“The amazing Y Sybs will be playing again shortly.”
. . . and decides it is time to go
Siôn finds the band rather noisy, and is about to leave, but does congratulate Izzy on a successful evening.
"That must have cost you a fortune!"
Ricky brings his parents a drink, which Debbie protests must have cost him a fortune.
"There are more important things in life than money"
“There are more important things in life than money,” he replies, then has to go home, as he has an early shift in the café in the morning.
“I know it’s difficult for you to accept,” Mark begins,
"I'm not accepting anything!"
but Debbie makes it abundantly clear that she is not accepting anything.
“I’m just praying that Ricky will see sense before the end of the summer!” she snarls.
"We've had stories all night!"
Anita has only just put Greta to bed when Siôn arrives home;  “I’ve only just put her down – we’ve had stories all night.   Even the teddies have had stories – and we watched Peppa Pig.
"When grandfathers run off to the pub!"
“Well, I am her grandmother – and that’s what grandmothers do – when grandfathers run away to the pub!   I’m glad you went with them – did you enjoy yourself?”
"I'm glad we both apologised"
He is glad that they have both apologised to Iolo and Tyler, and describes the gig as, “All right – but I didn’t want to stay long.”   Anita tells him that people have been raving about Y Sybs on Twitter,
"Don't believe everything you read online!"
but he tellingly replies, “Don’t believe everything you read online!”
"Found a new woman yet?"
In the Deri at the end of the evening, Eifion asks if Rhys has found a new woman to replace the other one, but is told, “Nobody compares with her!”   Eifion tells him in that case he should go and look for her.
"If only things were that simple!"
“I’d love it if things were that simple,” Rhys sighs.
Izzy thanks the band . . .
Izzy is thanking the band for a really enjoyable evening,
. . . and her mother is very proud of her
and Gaynor is very proud of her, but needs some water before she goes home.
"Can I get you a nightcap and walk you home?"
Eifion offers Izzy a nightcap, and will walk her home afterwards,
"Sorry – Mam needs walking home"
but she has to refuse as she has to walk her mother home.
"Any chance of buying me a nightcap?"
Kath has been listening, and wonders if he will buy her a nightcap, but is unsuccessful.   Before they leave, Kath tells Mark she is going to see where Debbie is,
"Yes, I miss you too!"
and finds her, talking on the phone;  “Yes, I miss you too – I’d better go before Mark starts to wonder where I am – Love you!”
Kath retires immediately
Kath makes a hasty exit.
