"I don't get the chance to make you a cup of tea very often"
Debbie has spent the night at Maes-y-Deri, for the benefit of her father, and in the morning he offers her a cup of tea;  “I’ll make you one – I don’t get the chance very often,” he says,
"There's nothing wrong with me – I'm as healthy as a horse!"
then reveals, “There’s nothing wrong with me – I’m as healthy as a horse!   An old one, perhaps, but still healthy.”
"But you said you're dying!"
“But you said you’re dying, and there’s nothing they can do,” protests Debbie;  he reiterates that he is not dying, and is fine.
"You said you wanted help – and that's what I'm doing"
He explains that she phoned him, wanting his help, that is what he is doing;  “What – pretending you’re dying?” she gasps,
"You can't do that!"
“You can’t do that!”   He assures her that he can, and that it is the only chance she has got to get back with Mark;  “How could you?   You saw how upset we all were yesterday,” she goes on, but he points out that he also saw how concerned Mark was about her.
"Are you sharing the same bed again?"
“How are things now?   Sharing the same bed again?” he enquires, and she angrily replies that they are sharing a room, which was awkward, thanks to him.   “Look, you just need time, and the old spark will be there again,” he predicts.
"Until they find out you're not ill"
“Until they find out you’re not ill – and that I’ve lied to them again!” Debbie growls.
"You'll just have to act heartbroken, then"
Josh spells it out that she wants Mark back, so she will just have to act heartbroken that her father is on his deathbed.   He goes to get her cup of tea.
Something appears to be worrying Eileen
At the breakfast table in Penrhewl, Eileen is looking rather concerned at a letter which has arrived;
"Let's have a look, then"
Jim wants to know what it is, and he soon becomes angry when he finds out.
"That Garry Monk's got a cheek!"
“What on earth?   That Garry Monk’s got a cheek!” he rages.
"I'll pay it, then we can forget about it"
Eileen says that she will pay it later, then they can forget about it.
"I only smashed a few glasses"
“Five hundred pounds?   I only smashed a few glasses,” he insists,
"No, Jim, it was worse than that!"
but she explains it was worse than that, and she had told them to send her the bill.   “That was a stupid thing to do!” he tells her, “He’s taking advantage here.” Eileen informs him that someone could have got hurt, and that she intends to do the right thing.   He is adamant that she should leave this matter to him;
He is going to sort Garry out
“I’m going to the Deri to tell Garry Monk exactly why we’re not paying this bill!”
"Here we go again!"
Eileen cannot dissuade him, and follows him out of the farmhouse.
Dani looks at photos of Kelly and Paul
Dani is looking at photos of Kelly and the baby;
"Is there any point in keeping them?"
“Is there any point in keeping them, if she’s going to give him away?” she asks Garry.   He does not think it is quite as simple as that, but she insists, “This boy deserves to be raised by his mother.”
"She's doing what she thinks is best"
He reminds her that Kelly is just doing what she thinks is best,
"It's not fair, Garry!"
but Dani feels that it is not fair;  “We’ve lost our baby – and she’s giving hers away to strangers.”   He says that they are two completely different things –
"We've agreed to try again when the time is right"
and they have agreed to try it again when the time is right.
"Perhaps now is the right time"
She suggests that perhaps now is the right time, but he answers, “Not now, not today.”
Garry receives some encouraging news
Then his phone rings, and he answers, in English, “Oh, really?   That’s great news – yes, thanks very much!”
"The Insurance Company are paying out everything"
Then he announces to Dani, “Insurance Company – they’re going to pay out before the end of the week – everything!   Which means we can start to plan for the future.”
"I've got a few ideas, Garry"
Dani has a few ideas, but he points out they are talking about ideas for the salon;
"I'll take you out for lunch, Dani"
“Write them down, and I’ll take you out for lunch to discuss them properly.”
"I've done a bit of shopping"
Kath returns to Maes-y-Deri with some shopping, and says she will make a bit of lunch later;
Poor, 'terminally ill' Josh does not want anything to eat
“I don’t feel eating, to be honest,” groans Josh, and Debbie agrees.
Kath is becoming quite emotional
Kath can quite understand this, and asks how he slept, but he replies that he has a lot on his mind.   “Don’t get upset, Kath,” he encourages her, and she appreciates that will not help anyone.
"I've come to terms with my fate"
“I’ve come to terms with my fate,” he informs her, “It’s time you all did,  too.”   As Kath puts away the shopping,
"I don't want anything to do with this farce!"
Debbie whispers to her father that she does not want anything to do this farce,
"You need to 'wise up', my girl!"
but he tells her she needs to ‘wise up’.
"I haven't changed my mind!"
In the kitchen, Kath advises Debbie, “Just so you understand, I’m willing to go along with this act that you and Mark are together for Josh’s sake – I don’t want him to be upset.   Don’t misunderstand me – I haven’t changed my mind.   You and Mark will get a divorce!”
"Dad's dying – and this is what you do to me?"
Debbie mournfully replies, “Dad’s dying – and this is what you do to me?” but Kath snarls that it does not change what she did.
"What does he mean by 'fun'?"
Josh suggests to Kath that they should have some fun when Mark comes home, and she wonders what he has in mind.
Garry seeks some privacy down in the cellar
Down in the cellar of the Deri, Garry is consulting the laptop when he is disturbed by Cassie,
Cassie gets a shock
who is very surprised to see him;  he says he is hiding from her,
"I'll change the barrel"
and hands her the laptop so he can change over one of the barrels.
"Very expensive – San Francisco!"
She looks at the holiday website on the laptop;  “Very expensive – Portland, San Francisco!”
"It's a surprise for Dani"
He tells her that it is a surprise for Dani, and that she is not to say a word.   They both need some time away,
"Dani's been under a lot of pressure lately"
as Dani has been under a lot of pressure lately, so getting away will clear their minds.
"I don't care what they say about you, Garry Monk"
“I don’t care what they say about you, Garry Monk, at least you’re a romantic,” she concludes, “And perhaps Dani will realise you’re a perfect family as you are – and won’t want another baby.”   She can see this is what Garry actually hopes, and advises, “If that’s how you feel – tell her!”
He resumes his deliberations
That is what he intends to do, but is waiting for the right time.   She agrees not to say a word about the holiday.
Monopoly, in Welsh
The Jones family are playing a game of Welsh Monopoly,
"Hey, you picked up £300!"
and Mark accuses Debbie of picking up £300 when she passes ‘GO’, instead of £200.
"This one always cheats!"
“This one always cheats!” Mark tells Josh, but Debbie maintains it was simply a mistake.
"You make a good team"
Josh describes them as a good team, and enquires about Ricky.
"I've got some photos of Ricky"
Kath has some photos on her phone which he sent, and shows them to Josh;
Debbie is eager to have a look
Debbie takes the phone and also has a look, noticing that he seems happy, but Kath rapidly retrieves the phone.
Mark grasps her hand in a consoling gesture
Debbie is upset, and Mark grasps her hand, but after an angry glare from his mother, thinks better of it.
"Look, it's our Councillor  – have you brought some compensation?"
Hywel pays a visit to the chip shop flat, just as Britt is about to go down and start her shift;  “Here comes our councillor – bringing us some compensation, is he?” wonders Colin.
Hywel thinks that his news may be even better than that;
"You've won the 'Best Shop Shop' competition in the Western Post"
“I’m here to congratulate you – remember the ‘Best Chip Shop’ competition in the Western Post?   Y Sosban Chips has won!”
"Well, we do make the best chips in the Gwendraeth Valley!"
Britt and Colin are very pleased to hear this, and Colin makes it very clear that they make the best chips in the Gwendraeth Valley.   Hywel would like to come over later for a short presentation and a photo in the paper.   “We will present the financial prize, and record a few words for CwmFM.”
"I'll come over at lunchtime"
The mention of a financial prize excites Britt, and they agree to see Hywel at lunchtime.
"What if it was because of the mural?"
Britt worries, “What if we won the prize because of the mural?”
"It's nothing to do with that"
but Colin stresses that the mural has nothing to do with their chips.   “But it’s brought us a lot of attention!” she goes on,
"Just cool down, Britt"
and he urges her to cool down.
"You're not serious, Gar?"
When Garry returns from the cellar, Dani is angry with him, as they have a lot of customers, but he tells her to stop for a moment and look at the laptop.   “You’re not serious, Gar?” she gasps.
"West Coast Tour, baby!"
“West Coast Tour, baby!” he replies, and she squeals with excitement, then realises that they will be going over Christmas and the New Year.
"And we're sure to find time for . . . you know"
She agrees that they deserve a break, and it is time for them – together with Gwern and Seren – she is sure they will be able to find time for their other project’.   He reminds her that she said people are waiting for their food, but Dani warns him not to mention anything to the children.
"So he's come to you to die?"
Further along the bar, Gerwyn is surprised;  “He’s come to live with you, while he’s dying?”   Mark says he wants to be with his family, and Gerwyn appreciates that it must be awkward to have Debbie living with him, after everything.
"Sometimes I feel that nothing's changed"
“Well, yes and no,” Mark answers, “I don’t know – sometimes it feels like nothing’s changed – and then I remember everything.   We’ll have to tell Josh the truth.”
"You won't have to do it for very long"
Gerwyn points out that there is no need for that;  “You and Debbie are content to play happy families, and you won’t have to do it for long.   Perhaps this is your chance to win her back.”
"No – Debbie is only pretending"
Mark is very doubtful about that, stressing that Debbie is only pretending.
"You're banned, Jim!"
When Jim comes into the pub, he is told quite clearly by Garry, “You’re banned!”
"I'm not the first person to smash a few glasses here"
Jim is undeterred;  “Now, look here – I’m not the first person to smash a few glasses here!” but Garry points out it was a lot worse than that – he threw chairs as well, and almost hit Cassie.
"That's assault!
“That’s assault!” roars Garry, and Jim cannot believe what he says;  Garry goes on, “She said you were like a wild animal!” but Jim will not accept that he threatened Cassie, and asks why Britt did not tell him.
"I can't understand what came over me"
He agrees that he will pay every penny of the bill, and cannot understand what came over him;  “If there’s any damage, I’ll do the work for free!”   Garry has already sorted out the damage, and just requires the bill to be paid.
Jim wants to apologise to Cassie, but Garry replies that she will not want to see him.
"Just let him apologise to her"
Dani intervenes to say that Cassie is in the cellar, much to Garry’s displeasure;  “Just let him apologise to her,” she urges, and Garry relents.   Eileen will keep an eye on him.
Cassie hears a disturbing voice
When Cassie hears Jim’s voice, she is frightened,
She grabs the first weapon she can find
and arms herself with a broom;
"Look, there's no need to be afraid!"
he insists there is no need to be afraid, and Eileen interposes herself between them.
Jim is surprised that Cassie is afraid of him;
"Well, what do you expect?"
“What do you expect?” she demands.   He emphasises that the man last week was not really him –
"I just lost it for no reason"
he just lost it for no reason – he is quite aware that she did not phone the police.
"I don't want to hurt you"
“I don’t know what came over me – I don’t want to hurt you,” he whimpers, “I’m sorry, right?   From the bottom of my heart, I’m so sorry.   Will you shake my hand, so I know you realise how sorry I am?”
Cassie reluctantly shakes his hand
She does so rather hesitantly, and Eileen assures her that she will make sure nothing like this happens again;  she shepherds Jim out of the cellar.
"I was the cod and haddock that won it!"
Outside the chip shop, Hywel is organising the photographer, and calls the shop staff and owners outside.   Colin confirms to Britt that no-one has mentioned the mural;  “It was the cod and haddock that won it!” he insists.
Hywel mentions his new position
Hywel begins the presentation;  “I’m Hywel Llywelyn, a County Councillor.   It is my pleasure to present the Western Post’s Award for the Best Chip Shop to Britt and Colin from Y Sosban Chips,”
Hywel stays in the limelight . . .
and he displays the giant cheque for £500.
. . . until Colin shoves him out of the picture
Colin makes sure he pushes Hywel to one side when they have their photo taken
"This is a photo of the winners!"
“This is a photo of the winners!” he says, but Hywel protests that he is a County Councillor;
"A County Councillor who is totally useless!'
Colin adds, “Who is totally useless!”
"Who was I, Eileen?"
Eileen wonders if apologising has helped Jim, but he asks, “Who was I, Eileen?   Who was that man?”   She encourages him not to think about it, but he is worried whether Cassie understood.
"She understands you've been through a lot of stress"
“I think she understands you’ve been under a lot of stress – perhaps you have been doing too much,” she suggests, but he protests that he likes to keep busy.   “You haven’t been to APD this week – has that helped a bit?”
"I don't want to retire"
He thinks that perhaps it has, but he does not relish the thought of retirement;
"You may as well shoot me now!"
“You may as well shoot me now!” he snarls, and walks out of the Deri.
"We should be going now"
Gerwyn and Mark also think that is about time they were going, and Mark is determined to tell Josh the truth.   Gerwyn advises that he needs to have a proper chat with Debbie as well,
"She doesn't love me any more"
but Mark is convinced that she no longer loves him.
Kath is unable to babysit for Ffion
At Maes-y-Deri, Kath is speaking to Ffion on the phone;  “Sorry, I can’t today – yes, I miss Arwen as well.”
"You go, Kath – we don't mind"
Josh tells her to go;  he and Debbie do not mind, as it will give them some time to spend together.
Kath then confirms that she will be at Cysgod y Glyn as soon as she can, and will be back around 6:00pm.
"You're pushing your luck!"
When she has gone, Debbie tells her father, “You’re pushing your luck!” but he argues that it is working.
"I've seen you and Mark together"
“I’ve seen you and Mark together,” he says,
"It's because I love him"
and she explains that is because she loves him, so Josh knows that it is worth it.   She goes on, “Your plan’s not going to work – there’s something I haven’t told you.
"Kath's blackmailing me"
“I can’t be with Mark because Kath won’t let me – she’s blackmailing me!   She’s going to tell the police was behind the drugs, unless I divorce Mark!    I want my family back, Dad – I want Mark back.”
"I came to help – and that's what I'll do!"
Josh informs her that he has come here to help her, and that is what he is going to do;  “You leave Kath Jones to me!”   Debbie anticipates that they will be digging a deeper hole than the one she is already in,
"Trust me – I know what I'm doing"
but he assures her, “Trust me – I know what I’m doing.”
"It's one disaster after another with me!"
Debbie laments that it is just one disaster after another with her.
"We haven't told the children yet"
“We haven’t told the children yet – so don’t let it slip out!” Dani warns Britt, who is not happy that they will be away over Christmas.   “Yes, and New Year.   I hope it will be warm so I can get a Winter tan,” Dani exclaims.
"I hoped we'd spend Christmas together"
Britt had been hoping that they would all spend Christmas together, and has even bought a turkey.
"We could do something before – or after"
Dani suggests, “We could do something together before we go – or after we come back,”
"We could celebrate Garry's birthday!"
and then Britt has the idea that they could celebrate Garry’s birthday.
Apparently he has said he does not want any fuss, but Britt envisages a family gathering in the Deri;  “We deserve to celebrate something after the year we’ve had!
"I'll organise it"
“I’ll organise it to thank you for all your help.”   Dani replies that they will see.
Josh feigns tiredness . . .
Mark returns home to Maes-y-Deri, where Josh says that he is feeling rather tired
. . . and goes for a lie-down
and will go for a lie-down.   Mark comments to Debbie that things are rather ‘full-on’ at the moment,
"I feel a bit lost, Mark"
and notices that she also looks tired;  she replies that she feels a bit lost.   He comments her that it has not all been bad.
"Don't say that you miss me!"
“Don’t, Mark, or you’ll be saying that you miss me – I can’t, sorry!” she groans, and also goes upstairs.
Mark is downhearted
Mark is left dejected.
