"Are you awake, Jason?"
Sandra wakes up in her sleeping bag on the floor, and asks Jason, next to her, if he is awake, and whether he wants a cup of tea;  he turns over and refuses it.
"You're still angry with me!"
“You’re still angry with me!” she whines, and he points out that she lost all his winnings at the bookies yesterday.
"That would have paid part of the price of a kitchen"
“That money would have gone part of the way to paying for a kitchen!” he growls, but she points out if they had won, she would have got him out of this mess.
"What's that noise?"
Then Jason hears the sound of footsteps, looks on his phone and sees that Siôn is on his way;
"Hurry up – you know what to do!"
“Hurry up – you know what to do!” he tells her.
“I’m not going back in there – I had cramp last time!” she warns him, so he orders her to get out.
"Do you know how Sioned is?"
Kelly puts her advertising sign outside the café, and asks Hywel how Sioned is;  as far as he knows, and she is still the same.
"What do you know about the quarrel at the hospital?"
“What do you know about a quarrel between Ed and Angela at the hospital?” he enquires, “Eileen said that Ed had been tampering with the life-support machine.”
"Ed would never do anything like that!"
Kelly is absolutely confident that Ed would not do anything like that.   “Well, Angela caught him,” he goes on,
"If Angela said it, it must be a load of codswallop!"
and Kelly points out that if she said it, it must be a load of codswallop.
"Tell Angela that Ed will sue her!"
“You tell Angela that Ed will sue her if she carries on spreading lies like that!” she roars,
She walks forbiddingly towards Ed
and goes back into the café, where Ed has just made her a cup of tea.   She looks at him, accusingly, and demands,
"What happened at the hospital yesterday?"
“What happened at the hospital yesterday?   Hywel told me you were fiddling with Sioned’s life support.”   Ed immediately puts down the tea and strides out of the café,
A customer is almost knocked off his feet
almost knocking over a customer in his haste.   Kelly shouts after him.
Siôn has brought breakfast
At Morawel, Siôn has brought Jason some breakfast;  “A labourer needs sustenance,” he says, and Jason is surprised he is so early.   “Anita stayed with her sister last night – I saw it as a chance to escape without explaining where I was,” Siôn answers,
"Will you finish the kitchen today?"
“Will you finish the kitchen today?   Where are the units?   In the shed, out the back?”
"They're still at the shop"
Jason has to think quickly, and alleges, “They’re still at the shop – I insisted on dismantling them myself, to make sure the job was done properly.   I didn’t get a chance to do that until yesterday – they’re ready for delivery now.”
"I hope they'll be delivered today"
Siôn is anxious that they are delivered today.
"You're making a fool of yourself!"
Ed has gone round to confront Hywel;  “You’re making a fool of yourself!” he says, “She’s dangerous – and what she did proves that!   It’s irresponsible to let her live with Esther, after Huwi and this!”
Angela is lurking out of sight
Angela has sneaked quietly into the house, and is listening to them,
"I want to hear Angela's side first
as Hywel says he wants to hear Angela’s side of the story first.   “I know what I saw!” insists Ed,
"One day you'll see I was right"
“She was prepared to kill her sister – one day, you’ll see that I was right – just hope it’s not too late!”
"Hiding in the shadows again"
Now Angela walks in, and Ed remarks to her, “Typical – hiding in the shadows again.   You can say whatever you like, but you and I know the truth.
"I'm not going to let you ruin my life again!"
“I’m not going to let you ruin my life again,” and he leaves the house.
Hywel wonders how long she has been hiding there, and she replies, “Long enough –
"I was fiddling with the tubes, not him"
“Ed’s right.   I was fiddling with the tubes, not him – the tube had slipped and I was trying to pull it up, but Ed thought he had seen something else.”
"You thought it would be helpful to tell lies?"
“Then you thought it would be helpful to tell lies about him?” Hywel demands, “After everything he’s been through!”
She suspects she has the same evil streak as Sioned
She admits that Ed might be right, and she may have the same streak in her that Sioned has.
"I would never hurt Esther"
“But one thing is true, Hywel, I would never hurt Esther,” she insists, and he believes her, otherwise he would not have let her stay there.   “Can I ask a favour – a big one?   Let me go – let me pack my bags and disappear.”
"What about the court case?"
“What about the court case?” he enquires, “Are you going to live on the run, or what?”   She answers that her life is over, but he vehemently disputes that;
"You have a life here, with me"
“You have a life here with me, if you want it – I’m willing to take the gamble, if you are.
An intriguing Stirling Engine stove-top fan
In an Aberporth pub, with a cast iron log burner, equipped with a stove-top fan, Sandra has a cup of tea and looks on her phone at cheap second hand kitchen units.
She has discovered free kitchen units . . .
One seller offers a complete kitchen free to anyone who can collect;
. . . and is highly delighted with herself
she thinks she may have the solution to Jason’s problem.
"Have they got the right delivery address?"
Siôn is becoming worried, wondering if they have the right delivery address, but Jason is confident they will arrive later;  he suggests that there is not much point in Siôn staying there, and rejects his offer of help,
"Anita doesn't want you covered in dust"
pointing out that Anita will not want him covered in dust.
"I've had a brilliant idea, Jase"
Then Jason receives a phone call;  Sandra tells him that she has had a brilliant idea, but he makes it sound as if the call is from the kitchen company.
"You promised it would be delivered today!"
“You promised that it would be delivered today,” he says angrily, “What sort of service is this?
"What do I tell the owner, then?"
“The owner is here, standing right next to me – what do I tell him?   You’re making me look like a fool!”
Sandra is quite amused, and tells him he is a very good actor;
"I'm going to sort out your problems"
“I’m going to sort out your problems – it’s the least I can do.”   He continues to insist that the delivery gets there by two o’clock, and he wants no more of this nonsense.   “I’ll be there after you get rid of Siôn, OK?” Sandra says.
"All we can do is wait"
Jason tells Siôn that all he can do is wait
Angela is all ready to go
Angela has packed her bags and is ready to leave;  “I needed somewhere to stay, Hywel, nothing more.   You’ve been so kind – you don’t deserve the hassle.”
"It's one of your talents, getting people annoyed!"
He remarks that it is one of her talents to get people annoyed.
“Thank you for everything – you’ve been a good friend, and more,” she says, picking up her case.
"I'll be at your side"
Hywel stops her;  “Listen, whatever happens in court, I’ll be at your side.”
"I'm more trouble than I'm worth!"
She argues that she is more trouble than she is worth,
"Will you stay here – with me?"
but he goes on, “You make living in Cwmderi a lot more interesting – so will you stay – with me?”
He has obviously now got over Sheryl
and he kisses her.
"Why can't people keep their word?"
Siôn is becoming exasperated;  “Why can’t people keep their word!” he rages, but Jason replies that he has to deal with this nonsense constantly.
"They have £10,000 of my money!"  — no - the bookies have!
“Are you sure this company is above board?   Companies go bust all the time – and they have £10,000 of my money!   I’m going over to see them, for some peace of mind!”
"Don't overdo it, Siôn!"
Jason warns him not to overdo it, as they will only get stubborn and not deliver at all;  “It was my decision to take this job – we need the money, Siôn!   Right – work – I’d better get something done before the lorry arrives.”
"I shall have to go"
Siôn at last leaves the house,
Jason is glad to see the back of him
and Jason breathes a sigh of relief.
Kelly lies on the sofa
Ed finds Kelly lying on the sofa, and tells her that Gwen is looking for her;  “Why are you hiding up here?
"Please don't say you believe Angela's version"
“Please don’t say you believe Angela’s version.”   She says that she has not heard his version yet,
"Do you really need to hear it?"
and he is very upset that she needs to hear it.
“You said part of you would be glad if Sioned died,” she reminds him,
"It doesn't mean I would kill her!"
but he points out that does not mean he would kill her.
"It wouldn't be the first time"
“It wouldn’t be the first time,” she says, but then apologises.
"I was defending myself"
He points out on that occasion he was defending himself, and the police said there was no case against him.   “We’re supposed to be engaged – doesn’t that mean anything?” he demands,
"I was shocked, hearing it from someone else"
but Kelly explains she was shocked, hearing it from someone else.   He argues that he did not think anything would come of it.
"What if they phoned the cops?"
“You’re accused of tampering with the machines!” she screams, “What if they phoned the cops?”
"They would find Angela's fingerprints"
Ed informs her, “If they had called the police, my fingerprints wouldn’t be on the tube, and the CCTV would show that Angela was at the hospital before me.   I didn’t do it, Kel!”
"It's not right that she gets away with it!"
Kelly considers it is not right that Angela should get away with it, and Ed is going to make sure that Jim and Eileen are aware of the truth as well.
Sandra arrives with the secondhand kitchen units
Outside Morawel, Sandra has arrived in a van, and is unloading kitchen cabinets.   Jason cannot believe this, but she is jubilant that she got it all free;
"I've done something right, for a change!"
“It would have gone in the skip – recycling makes me feel better!   I’ve done something right, for a change.”   She hired the van, but is almost skint now.
"This doesn't look anything like what Siôn ordered!"
Jason points out that there is one small problem;  “This doesn’t look anything like what Siôn thinks he’s getting!”
Sandra suggests a coat of paint
She says that she has already thought of that, and will paint the units, with the paint she has purchased, demanding if he has a better idea.   “They’ll look brill when I’ve finished,” she maintains, “I’m taking the van back – you fit the units, OK?”
Angela is chatting, when . . .
Ed finds Angela, talking to someone by the alley, and he asks her, “Have you packed yet?”   She is incredulous that he thought Hywel would believe him,
. . . she is accosted by Ed
but he grabs her arm and warns her, “Stop telling people that I tried to harm Sioned!   It’s not true!”
"Well, you stop telling lies about me!"
In return, she insists he stops telling lies about her.
"I said what I saw"
“I told the truth – I said what I saw,” he stresses, but she argues that it was what he thought he saw.
"I could lose my sister, as well as Courtney"
Angela snarls, “I could lose my sister, on top of losing Courtney – and you, of all people, should know what she meant to me!   I wanted to be with Sioned.”
"I'm sorry"
He apologises, and offers to tell Jim and Eileen that he made a mistake;  “But then I’d have to admit that I lied!” wails Angela, and he points out that she did.   “But only to defend myself,” she insists.
"I'm not dishonest, like you"
Ed realises that she has tricked him again into feeling sorry for her, playing the victim.   “I’m not dishonest, like you,” he roars.
“I’d say that having a fling with Gaynor is dishonest,” she smiles, and shows him the video on her phone, to jog his memory.   “Friends don’t snog each other!” she declares.
Angela plays her trump card – the video clip
He tries to grab the phone, but she vindictively points out, “With something like this, one will believe a word you say!”
Kelly is anxiously watching
Kelly is watching the confrontation from the door of the café, as Ed demands that Angela get rid of the video;  again he attempts to seize the phone,
"I saw what you did!"
but is seen by Hywel, who intervenes.   “I saw what you did!
"Go, before you get the hiding you deserve!"
“Go, before you get the hiding you deserve!”
Kelly is still watching
Kelly is still watching from the café.
"You haven't done anything"
Sandra comes back to Morawel, but finds that Jason has done nothing since she left;
"It's not going to fool Siôn!"
“It’s a stupid idea – it’s not going to fool Siôn,” he groans.
"Where are you going find a kitchen, then?"
She wonders where he is going to find a kitchen, and he has no idea;  “But installing that is not the answer, OK?
"Meeting you is the worst thing that's happened to me"
“I’m beginning to think that meeting you was the worst thing that ever happened to me!   Go home, will you, Sandra?   I’m going for a pint – and when I come back,
"I want you – and that kitchen – gone!"
“I want you – and that kitchen – gone!”
"What did she show you?"
Ed returns to the café flat, and Kelly reveals that she saw the way Angela was taunting him;  “Before you grabbed her phone, what did she show you?”
Why do Cwmderi people habitually lie?
He lies that it was photos of Courtney, and that she said it was his fault that she died – that he dragged them both to Cwmderi in the first place.   Kelly comments that it does not make sense, and adds, “I believe you about the hospital, if it’s any consolation and you’re right – she’s poisonous.
"I'm damned if I'm going to let her split us up!"
“I’m damned if I’m going to let her split us up!”   That means a lot to Ed,
"I love you, Ed!"
and she assures him that she loves him.    They kiss, and Kelly has to go back down to the café.
He looks worried . . .
He, meanwhile, looks far from happy, and receives a text message – the video clip;
. . . and with good reason
he replies, “What do you intend to do with it?”
Angela tells Hywel that she deserved it, but he insists that nothing justifies behaviour like that.
"I think I should stay out of Ed's way"
She thinks she should stay out of Ed’s way for a while, and Hywel will make a cup of tea.   She receives the reply from Ed,
Then she warns Ed
and informs him, “Nothing – if you behave.”   He looks worried.
Jason has reached the depths of despair
Sandra finds Jason in the pub, looking at photos of Sara and Ifan on his phone;
"You're not going to save your marriage by staying here"
“You’re not going to save your marriage by staying here!” he cautions her, but she replies there is no marriage to save.
"I've put their future in jeopardy!"
“I’ve put Sara’s and Ifan’s future in jeopardy – the two people I love most – for what?” he demands, but she says he will feel better after a drink.
"You don't have a clue, do you?"
“You don’t have a clue, do you?” he shouts, “What I need to do is confess to Sara – that hope that she’ll forgive me, yet again!”
"She's not going to forgive you this time"
Sandra doubts that she will forgive him this time;  “I know what it’s like to lose everything – you have to start from the beginning –
"I'll help you!"
“and I’ll help you!”   He is adamant that he needs no help from anyone, especially her, but will sort out his own life.
“I’m not turning my back on a friend,” Sandra goes on,
"All I want is for you to leave me alone!"
but all he wants is for her to leave him alone.
"Get out, Sandra!"
He bellows at her to go away,
She does as she is told . . .
and she has little choice but to comply.
. . . while he stares into the flames
He sits, gazing into the flames of the log-burner.
The sunset, across Cardigan Bay
The sun is setting as we see Sandra,
Sandra has acquired a can of petrol . . .
who has somehow equipped herself with a can of petrol, liberally spreading it around inside Morawel.
. . . to which she adds a match . . .
With obvious enjoyment, she takes out a box of matches, strikes one and throws it into the room,
. . . watches the resulting conflagration . . .
then retires immediately, as we hear the sound of roaring flames.
. . . and runs from the house
Outside, she runs from the house, as the fire can be seen lighting up one of the downstairs windows.
