"Yes, Jim, she's OK"
Sioned has been repatriated from France to a local hospital, and her mother is fussing by her bedside;
"You can go if you want"
“You can go if you want,” Sioned tells her, but Eileen insists that her place is there.   She eventually admits that she could go to the shop, and assures Sioned that she will be back at Penrhewl before long.
Sara leaves for work
Sara is about to leave for work, while Jason lounges on the sofa;
In a magazine . . .
he takes out a home furnishing magazine
. . . Jason finds an interesting article
and finds a picture of a luxury kitchen, of which the price is £20,000.   This makes him think.
Angela arrives at the shop
Eileen is in the shop when Angela arrives, and reports that the operation was a success;  “She needs to get stronger now.”   When Angela suggests she could visit her sister,
"Why did you think she would want to see you?"
Eileen asks, “Why did you think she would want to see you?   We all know why she left!   You must have enough on your plate, preparing for the case on Friday!”
DJ reminds Jason of the ultimatum
Sara enters Awyr Iach just as DJ is sending a text to Jason, which reads, “The clock is ticking, Jase – 5K by lunchtime.”
"Jason looks awful"
Sara reports that Jason hitched all the way back from Aberporth and looks awful;  she wonders if DJ has noticed that there is anything wrong.
"Perhaps you should ask him how he's coping"
“Perhaps you should ask him how he is coping,” DJ replies.
"I think he's trying too hard"
“Things weren’t very good between us a few months ago – we sorted it out but I think he’s trying too hard to be a good husband, a good father, good businessman – and it’s all getting on top of him,” she says.
"You men aren't very good at asking for help"
DJ is very well aware of what the problem is, but she goes on, “You men aren’t very good at asking for help, are you?   Can you have a chat with him – suggest that he needs someone to help him?”
"I'll have a try, Sara"
He is quite willing to try, and she tells him that she has hidden the nice biscuits behind the tuna.
Jason's plan involves doctoring the page
Jason has been doctoring the page from the magazine, and has added the words, ‘Half Price!   £10,000!’   There is a knock on the door and DJ arrives;
"In a manner of speaking, I've got the money now!"
“Yes, I got the text and I’m going to pay back the debt now,” Jason asserts.   DJ is amazed that he has the money already, but Jason adds, “In a manner of speaking, yes!”
"If only Sara knew the truth"
DJ explains that Sara has sent him over because she is worried;  “If she only knew the truth – you’re an addict!”   Jason maintains that is no business of his, but DJ begs to differ;
He does not relish lying to Sara
“Yes it is, if I have to pretend to your wife that I don’t know the truth.   It’s not fair on me or her!   It’s only a matter of time before something slips out!”
"Do you want her to leave me?"
Jason angrily instructs DJ not to say a word to Sara;  “She’ll leave me – and take Ifan with her!   Is that what you want?”   DJ insists that what he does not want is to see a friend committing fraud, deceiving his wife and whoever else.
"Your life is going to fall apart"
If Jason is not going to do something about it, his life is going to fall apart around him;  “You’re ill, Jase!” he exclaims. “You need help!”
"Give me time to pay the debt on the credit card first"
Jason just wants time to pay the debt on the credit card first – then they can have a chat about everything else later.   He swears on his family’s life.
Whose posh motor is this?
As Angela is about to get into a car, Sara shouts to her, “Are you going away – or are you running away?
"That's what people do when things get on top of them"
“That’s what people do when life gets on top of them.”   Angela snarls that everyone and everything that matter to her are in Cwmderi;  “Poor things!” is Sara’s verdict.
"Do you believe in fate, Siôn?"
Jason visits Y Felin with an offer he hopes Siôn cannot refuse;  “Do you believe in fate?” he asks, “This kitchen – you can have whichever kitchen you want, but . . .”
A fanciful tale of getting lost – but he is banned from driving!
Siôn was under the impression that Sara was designing a kitchen for him, but Jason continues, “Sometimes you’re in the right place at the right time!   I got lost – I was looking for something else, and I got lost in an industrial estate near Llanelli.
"This unit that was selling kitchens"
“I ended up outside a unit that was selling kitchens,”
and he produces the doctored photo.   “I’m sure you know where I’m going with this – the place was closing down and everything had to go.   When I saw this . . . well!”
Siôn is mightily impressed by the kitchen
Siôn is highly impressed by this stylish kitchen.   Jason asks if he can imagine Anita cooking in there, but Siôn replies that can see himself cooking there;  “A little carbonara, splash of white wine, herbs from the garden!” he enthuses.
"You said you wanted to spend £10,000"
Jason moves in for the kill, as it were;  “You said that you wanted to spend £10,000 on this kitchen – I don’t need to point out that you would be getting twice the kitchen!”
"Yes, it's perfect!"
Siôn regards it as perfect, as though someone chose one especially for them, and is definitely interested.
"But someone else is also interested in it"
“The bloke told me that another couple are interested in this kitchen, but he said he would keep it for us if we pay for it now,” Jason informs Siôn, “And it will fit – right then,
"What's it to be – yea or nay?"
what is it to be?   Yea or nay?   All you have to do is pay the money into my account, and I can sort it all out for you.”
Contrary to Siôn’s expectations, no deposit is required, but the full price must be paid immediately.
"We ought to go and see it first"
Siôn thinks that he and Anita should go and see this kitchen first, but is told that the place is now closed to the public, and they must move fast.
"I don't want to let Sara down"
Siôn is concerned about letting down Sara, and Jason agrees, but says that he has tried;
Jason is cautiously optimistic of a change of mind . . .
“It’s important that you’re happy, Siôn,” he says and leaves the house.
. . . and Siôn wonders if he has done the right thing
As intended, Siôn is worried that he has missed a great bargain.
Angela finds one of her old nursing mates, Glenda
Sioned is being given a drink of water when Angela arrives at the hospital;  “You’re in good hands with Glenda – we’ve done a few shifts together,” she says,
Sioned does not want Angela there . . .
but Sioned is quite clear that she does not want Angela there.
. . . but Angela takes no notice of that and drones on
Undaunted, she goes on, “I’ve brought you a few things – Bluetooth, so you can listen to music, and a couple of treats.”   Sioned just wants her to go, but she continues rabbiting on, “I thought I’d never see you again after the accident – losing Courtney was too much – I don’t want to lose you as well.
"Please don't send me away!"
“Please don’t send me away!
"You sleep – that's the best way"
“You should sleep – that’s the best way to recover from a brain injury.”
Jason hopes for the best
Jason sits at the foot of the stairs in number 9, and is startled by a knock at the door;
Siôn is still in indecisive mood
it is Siôn, who admits that he has transferred the money to Jason’s account, but is afraid he has done the wrong thing.
That house will be a little palace, Siôn!"
However, Jason assures him that he has done the right thing;  “That house will be a little palace!”
"Are you sure it's still available?"
Siôn is anxious that the kitchen is still available, so Jason pretends to be phoning the supplier;
"About the kitchen – is it still available?"
“Hello, it’s Jason Francis here – about the kitchen.   I’ve got good news for you, if it is still available.”
"He fell for it, did he?"
At the other end of the phone, Sandra is very pleased that their ploy has worked;
"The customer has paid in full"
Jason goes on, “The customer has paid in full – I have to call back to the house to tie up a few loose ends,
"I can't wait!"
“so I’ll call in later.”
"Anita will be over the moon!"
Then he offers his congratulations to Siôn, who predicts, “Anita will be over the moon!”   As soon as his visitor has left,
Jason double-checks the account
Jason checks the bank account on the laptop, finding the entry for £10,000 bank transfer at the top of the page.
A new, experimental type of ATM at Cwmderi?
There also appears to be an ATM withdrawal for the rather unconventional sum of £9.98 and a payment in the village shop of £250!
Jason is solvent again – but for how long?
Jason is jubilant that the plan has been successful.
"He said he'd be here at one"
Sara and DJ are waiting in the Deri for Jason;
Jason seems in a better humour now
when he arrives, Sara says, “That nap has obviously done you a power of good,” as he appears to be looking much happier.   He apologises to both of them for making them worry, but insists that he is all right now.
"A good worker is always forgiven"
“A good worker is always forgiven,” she replies, and goes to fetch some drinks.
"I'm glad you sorted out the debt"
DJ appreciates the payment which sorted out the debt, and emphasises that he was really concerned about it.
"That was the wake-up call I neded"
Jason says that it was the wake-up call that he needed, but DJ reminds him that he needs to sort out his problem.
Jason alleges that he has already started the process, showing the app on his phone which stops him going to gambling websites;  “I’m going to give up, this time!” he assures DJ,
"Sara would never have forgiven me – again!"
“And thank you for not telling Sara – she would never have forgiven me – again!”
“What do you mean – again?” queries DJ,
"They're the most important people in my life"
and Jason begins his usual spiel about Sara and Ifan being the most important people in his life,
DJ has heard it all before
and that he is definitely going to stop.
"What would I do without a lovely wife like you?"
Sara returns with the drinks, as Jason goes on, “What would I do without a good friend like DJ, and a lovely wife like you?”
Angela studies Sioned's notes
Angela is studying Sioned’s notes when she awakens;  she says that she is tingling all over, and Angela explains that it is the morphine.
As soon as Sioned wakes, Angela starts talking again
Then she starts talking again;  “A lot has happened since you went away – I was in a mess – not thinking straight – I would never have wanted to hurt Huwi – or Mam!   Jim, perhaps, but only on a bad day!”
Sioned is showing signs of distress, but Angela is too concerned with herself;  “I was jealous – pathetic, isn’t it?”
"I don't feel very special!"
Sioned gasps that she does not feel very special and wonders where her mother is;
Angela goes to summon help
Angela will go and get Glenda the nurse, who will make her more comfortable.
"I've found the perfect doors for your kitchen, Siôn"
Siôn comes into the Deri, and is told by Sara that she has found the perfect doors for that kitchen, so she would like to meet this week to discuss colours;
Siôn is lost for words
Siôn does not know what to say.
"I've got to go back to the office"
Then she has a phone call from one of Awyr Iach’s suppliers, and has to return to the office;  afterwards she will give Jason a lift back to Morawel.
"Thanks for not spilling the beans, Siôn!"
Jason thanks Siôn for not spilling the beans about the kitchen;  he says he is waiting for the right time to tell her;
"I won't regret gambling on this new kitchen, will I?"
Siôn asks, still anxious, “I won’t regret gambling on this new kitchen, will I?” but is assured that Jason will not let him down.
"You used Siôn's money to pay off the debt, didn't you?"
DJ is listening intently to this conversation, and when Jason returns to his seat, he deduces, “You used Siôn’s money to pay off the debt on the card, didn’t you?”   Jason puts it down to a business term – ‘cash flow’,
"I can't be a part of this!"
but DJ would rather describe it as, “Deceit – deceiving a friend at that!   How am I supposed to believe you when you lie so easily?   I can’t be a part of this!”
"If you dare say a word to Sara . . ."
Jason turns menacing;  “If you dare say a word to Sara – do you understand?” but DJ once again insists that he needs help.   “How will destroying my marriage help?” Jason demands, “If you tell Sara, do you think you’ll have a job in the end?
". . . you'll be out on your ear!"
“If she finds out that you’ve kept this little secret, you’ll be out on your ear!”
"You unscrupulous coward!"
DJ calls him, “A coward – an unscrupulous coward!”
"Can you get a doctor?"
Angela is worried about Sioned’s condition and asks for a doctor to be called;  at that moment Eileen arrives,
"What are you doing here?"
and is very put out to see Angela there, wanting her to leave immediately.   She growls, “Sioned is in no state to know what she wants!”
"I'm worried that she's deteriorating"
“I don’t think you understand – I’m worried that she is deteriorating,” Angela stresses, “Perhaps the flight home was too much for her –
"It could turn serious very quickly!"
“it could turn serious very quickly, so go and talk to her while I find a doctor!”
"You've been very busy, Jase"
At Morawel, Sara can see that Jason has been very busy;  “I can use these photos to create a virtual image of the kitchen and start a portfolio for the new business –
She imagines her 'before' and 'after' portfolio
“the ‘before’ and the ‘after’.”
"You're not going to be designing the kitchen"
Jason breaks the news that she is not going to be designing the kitchen;  “I’ve found Siôn a new kitchen – I got hold of one for half price!”
Sara is disappointed
Sara is very disappointed, as she was hoping to show what she could do.   He suggests that they can still use the photos;
He suggests another bit of deception
“If people misunderstand that you designed this new kitchen, well, that’s their problem, isn’t it?”
"I don't like sleeping on my own"
She points out she does not like being alone at home, especially sleeping on her own, but he points out he has been having to sleep on an air bed in a sleeping bag, and there is not much here to entertain him.
"I'm proud of you, Jason"
Sara has to go and pick up Ifan now, and says that she is proud of Jason.
Sandra comes out from under the stairs
As soon as she leaves, Sandra emerges from the cupboard under the stairs and describes Sara as a lucky woman.
"You're not supposed to be living here!"
“The deal was that you could stay here for one night – not live here!” Jason informs her, but she reminds him he has £5,000 in his bank account.
“Come on, there is time before the bookies close!” she urges, but he seems reluctant,
"Don't start that nonsense again!"
and she growls, “Don’t start that nonsense again!   How else are you going to pay all those debts?   You’re lucky – I’ve got a cert in the 5:30 at Kempton Park –
"A cert – at fifteen to one!"
“fifteen to one!”   As usual, he succumbs to the temptation.
"I'm sorry for spoiling Christmas"
At the hospital, Angela tells her mother she is sorry for spoiling Christmas;  then an alarm sounds,
Staff rush into the room
and a resuscitation team hurry into the room.
"We'll have to intubate!"
“She’s not coping – we’ll have to intubate!” says a doctor.
"There is too much trauma to the head"
Angela explains to Eileen that there is too much trauma to the head, and the body cannot cope;
"I don't know if she will make it!"
it is uncertain if she will survive.
Sioned appears to be hovering between life and death
We are left with the scene of Sioned at death’s door.
