"Dani, are you all right"
As the dust settles in Pwll Bach mine, there is the sound of coughing and groaning;  Gwyneth asks if Dani is all right, but receives no reply.
Gwyneth looks around her
She becomes frantic, calling Dani’s name, and looking around in the semi-darkness.
Tyler is in terrible pain
Elsewhere, Tyler is similarly concerned about Iolo, but, when he tries to move, is in excruciating pain;
"I think I've dislocated it!"
“My shoulder!” he screams, “I think I’ve dislocated it!   Where are Dani and Gwyneth?”
Iolo cannot see a way out
Iolo tries to find a way out, and believes that the two girls went down another tunnel.
"What happened?"
Gwyneth is mightily relieved when Dani regains consciousness, coughing and spluttering;  “What happened?   Did anyone get out?” she demands.
Gaynor comes round
In another tunnel, which is still dusty, Ed tries to rouse Gaynor, who asks what happened, and he is not sure;
"We're stuck, Ed!'
she looks around, and comes to the conclusion, “We’re stuck!   Help!   Is anyone there?” she shouts, “Ed, do you think we could dig our way out?”
"I don't want to make things worse"
but he is afraid of making the situation worse.
He looks for any way of escape
Fortunately in this part of the mine the lights are still operating.
"There's not enough air!"
Gaynor screams, and complains that there is not enough air.
"Listen, someone is bound to try and get us out, OK?"
“We’re going to be fine,” he tries to reassure her, “Come and sit down here.   Listen, someone is bound to try and get us out, OK?”
Jim hopes for a phone signal
Meanwhile, Jim is attempting to get a signal on his mobile phone; “We’re fairly close to the entrance here – I should be able to get a signal.”
"It's hard enough to get a signal in the village!"
Dai reminds him that it is hard enough to get a signal in the village.
"What if they've all been killed?"
“Do you think the rest have been trapped by this collapse?” asks Dai, “What if they’ve all been killed, Jim?”
"They'll be fine!"
Jim is sure that they will all be fine.   “What if my gas canisters are responsible for this?” Dai continues, but Jim thought that Jason had got rid of them.
"What if I'm responsible for this?"
“Perhaps he couldn’t find all of them,” Dai exclaims, “What if I’m responsible for this?”   Jim tells him that there is no point thinking like that, and it is important that he does not panic.
"It's like a maze down here"
Iolo has been doing some exploring, but cannot find a way out;  “It’s like a maze,” he reports to Tyler.
"You'll have to put the shoulder back in!"
Tyler wants him to put the shoulder back in, as he cannot bear the pain;  “The longer we leave it, the harder it will be to put it back – please Iol!   Pull the arm carefully to create traction.”
"Lucky I once went out with a paramedic"
It is fortuitous that Iolo once went out with a paramedic, so knows the drill, and when Tyler gives the word, he deftly executes the manoeuvre,
Iolo successfully performs the task
as Tyler cries out in agony, then hears the shoulder click back into place.
"We must look for a way out"
Iolo improvises a sling, and suggests that they find a way out.
Mark approaches the mine . . .
Meanwhile, Mark is walking towards the mine, and notices the for sale board on the fencing,
. . . and squeezes through the fence
as he squeezes through a gap.
Angela cannot get hold of Hywel
In the Deri, Angela is trying to contact Hywel, when Kelly comes in, looking for Ed;
"He went to the Cash and Carry hours ago!"
“He went to the Cash and Carry, but that was hours ago!”   Garry has not seen him, then Angela asks if they have Gaynor’s phone number,
Angela gleefully tells her that Ed was with Gaynor
and reveals that Ed went to the Pwll Bach protest with her.
Garry says that Dani also went without telling him,
"Why hasn't he phoned?"
but Kelly wonders, “Why hasn’t he phoned?”   Garry assumes that there is no signal at the mine, as Dani’s phone is going straight to voicemail.
Angela tries ringing Hywel again . . .
Angela will try again to contact Hywel.
At that moment, Mark has reached the entrance to the mine,
. . . and Mark hears the sound of a phone
and as he looks inside, he hears the faint sound of a phone ringing;  he goes in to investigate.
"No, voicemail again"
Angela’s call also goes to voicemail, and Garry doubts they planned to be there so late;
Kelly thinks that something has happened
Kelly is becoming increasingly agitated.
Mark enters the mine . . .
Mark tracks down the phone, and finds Hywel lying just inside the entrance,
. . . finds the unconscious Hywel . . .
his head covered in blood;  Mark can get no response from him, so immediately phones for help;
. . . and immediately phones 999
“Police, ambulance – I don’t know – everything!   There’s been an accident at Pwll Bach, the disused mine near Cwmderi!   It’s collapsed!”
"I admire the way you've gone about this 'Love the Planet'!"
As they sit in the darkness, Gwyneth says, “I really admire the way you gone about this ‘Love the Planet’ campaign,”
"That's why we're stuck here!"
but Dani advises her not to admire too much, as is that is why they are stuck there.
"I never thought you would turn into an eco-warrior!"
“I never thought that you, of all people, would turn into an eco-warrior, set up a charity and all that,” Gwyneth continues.
"I didn't care, as long as I kept busy"
Dani replies, “To be honest with you, these last few months, I didn’t care what was doing as long as I kept busy.   Anything to keep me from dwelling on what happened last summer.”  Gwyneth says that no-one can blame her for that, and at least she is trying to make the world a better place;
"I only came to try and get people to like me"
“The only reason I came on this protest was to try and get people to like me again – after that business with DJ,” Gwyneth admits.
"Gwern has never said a bad word about you"
Dani emphasises that what Dai said about Gwern was not true;  he has never said a bad word about her.   “Not yet!” Gwyneth sighs,
"What happens when he finds out what I've done?"
“What’s going to happen when he finds out about some of the things I’ve done?”
"I'm sure you'll deal with it"
Dani is quite sure she will deal with it;  “After all, Gwern loves you – and he knows that you love him.”   Gwyneth just hopes that is enough.
Hywel has been brought out . . .
By the mine entrance, Mark watches the unconscious Hywel being carried out on a stretcher by the rescue team, and taken to a waiting vehicle.
. . . and Angela is sorry that she left him
Angela has just arrived, and says how sorry she is for leaving Hywel.
The rescue leader wants the names of everyone who was at the mine when she left earlier.
"How long is this going to take?"
Kelly and Garry have also arrived, and he asks if they are all alive, but the rescue leader cannot comment at the moment.   “How long is this going to take?   What are you going to do to get them out?” Garry demands.
"Mr Monk, I'm doing everything I can"
He is told to let the team get on with their job;  “Mr Monk, I’m doing everything I can to get them out – but I don’t have any answers at the moment.”
"Jim. I don't want to die here"
Inside, Dai is becoming very anxious;  “Jim, I don’t want to die here – I can’t breathe – there’s no air here!”   Jim assures him that no-one is going to die, and there is plenty of air in there, or they would have passed out by now.
"It's important for you to breathe slowly"
Jim continues, “Now listen – it’s important for you to breathe slowly, right?   Dai, look at me – breathe slowly with me – ready?
"In, two three – out, two, three"
“In, two, three, – out, two, three.”   They hear a rumbling sound, and the light flickers, as Dai clutches his chest.
"No news yet, Siôn"
Outside, Garry is reporting by phone to Siôn that there is no news at the moment,
Eileen and Diane arrive
and we see Eileen and Diane arriving;  Diane demands whether they know if anyone is alive.   Garry snaps at her, “Of course they are alive!
There must be another way into the mine
“There must be another way into this mine.”   However, Eileen did not see anything when she was looking at the plans.
"I'm sure there are other ways in"
“I used to work here, and I’m sure there are other ways in,” says Mark, but Diane fears that it might be impossible to reach them if the place has collapsed.
"Be positive – or shut up!"
Kelly shouts, “Stop!   You must be positive – or just shut up!”
Mark sets off to find another entrance
Mark decides he will go and find another way in.
Ed tells Gaynor, “Kelly will be expecting me – she will have reported it!”
"Kelly won't know where you are"
Gaynor points out that she will not know where he is.
"Why are you with her if you don't love her?"
“Why are you with her if you don’t love her?” she queries,
"Of course I love her!"
and he angrily replies that of course he loves her.   “But you don’t want to marry her,” Gaynor goes on.
"After Sioned, I don't want to marry anyone!"
He sits down beside her and explains, “After Sioned, I don’t want to marry anyone!”
"Kelly is nothing like Sioned"
Gaynor reminds him that Kelly is nothing like Sioned.
"Sioned changed after we got married"
“No, but Sioned changed after we got married – I saw no sign of that person before then,” he explains.
“I’m not telling you to marry Kelly,” she adds, “But you have to stop thinking that she is going to turn out like Sioned – or you’re going to destroy any hope of . . .”
"There's water coming in!"
Then she stops, hearing the sound of dripping, and worries that water is coming in.
"Why are you so cruel to DJ?"
Dani wonders, “Why are you so cruel to DJ?   That business with Sioned and now this bet?”   Gwyneth replies that she was not trying to be cruel to him,
"I was in love with Sioned"
but was in love with Sioned – in fact she may have been a bit obsessed, and scared of losing her.
Mark has climbed down into the mine
Mark has managed to locate another way into Pwll Bach, and climbs carefully down a ladder into a passage;  he shouts, but can hear no reply.
He bangs on a pipe . . .
He finds a discarded hammer and bangs on a pipe near the tunnel roof.
. . . and the sound is heard by Dani
Dani hears the noise, and desperately searches for something with which to bang on the pipe in reply.
She bangs the pipe in reply
She excitedly screams, “We’re down here!   We’re going to be rescued!”
Mark shouts back to them, “I’m going to get help, OK?”   He hurries back to the ladder, and begins to climb out, but the rungs give way,
Mark's rescue attempt copmes to an abrupt stop
and he falls back down into the tunnel, where he lies, motionless.
Darkness has now fallen outside
It is dark by now, and emergency lights have been set up;  a rescue crew emerges from the mine, and the situation is reported to the waiting villagers.
"We'll have to find another way in"
“There’s a huge rock blocking the entrance, and we cannot move it – we’ll have to find another way in.”
"There must be a way of moving it!"
When Garry suggests that there must be a way of moving it,
"We don't want to risk another collapse"
he is told that it is too unstable, and they do not want to risk another collapse.

"How are you going to get them out, then?"
“How are you going to get them out, then?” is Kelly’s demand, and Diane is now wondering whether they will manage to get them out;
"The team is doing everything they can!"
the rescue leader assures them that the team is doing everything they can.
