The two credit card bills have been paid
At Morawel, Jason reports that the two credit card bills have been paid in full, and Sandra is sure that must be a relief;
"If you ask Siôn for an early payment . . ."
“I’ve been thinking – if you ask Siôn for an early payment . . .”
Jason is quite adamant that there is no point in doing that, but she tells him, “If you don’t ask, you won’t know.”
"There are some big races today!"
He has other ideas, pointing out that there are some big races today, and he has the last £5,000;  she looks somewhat apprehensive.
"When can we expect the Waltzer to arrive at Pwll Bach?"
Rhys and his father come into the shop, followed by Eifion;  he wonders, “When can we expect the Waltzer to arrive at Pwll Bach?”   Hywel replies that he does not have to justify himself to Eifion,
"Tourists trespassing in the fields!"
who continues, “How are we to farm at Penrhewl with tourists trespassing in the fields?”
"Put up stronger fences!"
“That’s not my problem – put up stronger fences or something!” Hywel snarls at him.
Diane happens to be passing
Diane is passing, sees them in the shop and comes in;  “Hywel, I’ve just had a very interesting call about your plans for Pwll Bach.
"Everyone will know after tonight!"
“Don’t bother keeping it a secret – everyone will know after tonight – it’s on the Council’s agenda!   He’s put in an application to widen Pwll Bach Road,
"He's reopening the landfill site!"
“in order to reopen the landfill site – just like Jim had planned!”
Eifion is incredulous
So saying, she leaves the shop, followed by Eifion.
"I'll buy you lunch, if you're lucky!"
At Penrhewl, Eileen and Jim are planning to go out, and decide they will have a coffee when they get there;  “I’ll buy you lunch, too, if you’re lucky!” he says.   Eileen realises this is an excuse to spend less time traipsing round the shops,
"I hope there will be something left in the sales"
and hopes there will be something left in the sales.
"He wants to reopen it as a landfill site!"
Eifion comes in and makes the announcement, “Hywel’s not turning Pwll Bach into a theme park – he wants to reopen it as a landfill site!”
Jim points out that Hywel was opposed to the idea,
Jim is apoplectic with rage
and rages, “Now he’s stolen my idea!   I’m going to stop him!   This is more important than our day out!”   He rushes off.
Huwi is remarkably disinterested
Eileen tells Huwi that they can go to all the shops they want now.   However, as soon as she has taken Huwi out to the car,
Then Eileen leaves her mobile phone behind
her phone, which has inadvertantly been left behind, rings.
"Have you called the police?"
Dani asks Garry if he has called the police, but he replies he is not going to call them;  “You didn’t want to spoil Britt’s birthday, but it’s really important!” she insists.
"It will look dodgy to them"
Garry points out that it does not look good;  “You were keeping charity money to yourself – that’s the way the police will see it, won’t they?   You hadn’t registered the charity – it looks dodgy!
"We'll sort it out"
“But don’t worry – we’ll sort it out.”   Dani wonders how they are going to do that.
"Who was in the bar before it went missing?"
He asks who was in the bar before the money went missing,
"None of them would steal it!"
and she answers, “Everyone who was at Britt’s party – Diane, Sara and Jason – Siôn was in there earlier – but none of them would steal it!”
Eileen's phone rings again
In the bedroom at Penrhewl, Eileen’s phone rings again, in vain, with a incoming call from a private number.
Hywel studies his laptop in the café
In the café, Hywel is working on his laptop;  at the counter, Siôn hopes that Sara is all right after yesterday, when he put his foot in it with Diane.
Siôn wants some kitchen planning advice
Sara assures him it is all sorted out, but he would like some advice as he is trying to pick a layout for the kitchen;  “But not a word to Anita – I want to keep it a secret!”
"I want to discuss it with you"
When Anita and Diane come in, Hywel wants to discuss the plans with Diane before the meeting, but she replies sharply that now is not the time
"You underhanded swine!"
Then Jim bursts in;  “This is where you’re hiding, you underhanded swine!   You ruined my plans for Pwll Bach, and now we know why!”
"I saw the light, thanks to you!"
Hywel maintains that he saw the light, thanks to Jim;  Siôn enquires why he was not honest from the start, and Hywel replies that he needed time to think.   “I started the protest – but then I was persuaded otherwise.”
"You're not burying waste next to Penrhewl!"
“You’re not burying any waste next to Penrhewl!” Jim shouts, and Hywel reminds him he spent weeks telling people that it was an excellent idea.
"I shall have to change the front page of Cwm Ni"
Siôn remarks to Anita that he thinks he needs to change the front page of Cwm Ni,
"And I'll rethink my programme this week"
and Anita will have to rethink her CwmFM programme this week as well.
The landline rings
Downstairs in Penrhewl, the landline, alongside a photo of Courtney, is now ringing;  Eifion rushes in to answer it,
"Parlez-vous . . . English?"
and says in English, “Can you slow down please?   Are you speaking French?   Parlez-vous . . . English?
"Sioned Rees – skiing in France"
“Sioned Rees – yes, she lives here.   Yes, skiing in France – what’s happened?
"You mean an accident?"
“Do you mean an accident?”
An anxious wait for the end of the race . . .
Jason is in the process of getting rid of the rest of the money;  in the bookies they watch the televised race and shout encouragement.
. . . which results in a win for Jason . . .
“Look at him go!” exclaims Jason, but Sandra does not look so jubilant.   He tells her, “You put your money on a donkey!”
. . . but Sandra appears to have run out of money
She checks her purse and finds it empty,
Jason is happy now
while Jason collects his winnings.
"Alfie G is running in the next race!"
“Right, Alfie G is running in the next one – he’s going to win too!” enthuses Jason, “I want us both to put down £1,000 each,”
She is unsure, but still goes along with it
but she is unsure.
"Colin's been struggling since Britt lost his father's money"
Once again, in the Deri, suspicions are rife;  “Colin’s been struggling since Britt lost his father’s money,” suggests Dani, but Garry is confident that Colin would never steal from his family.   “Out of desperation?
"They might be skint after Chester's birthday"
“They might be skint after Chester’s birthday,” she goes on.
"You can't go round accusing anyone!"
“You can’t go round accusing anyone without evidence, Dan!” he emphasises,
Eifion looks around the Deri
as Eifion dashes into the pub, looking for Jim and Eileen.
"Have you seen Jim and Eileen?"
He is desperate to find them.
In the café, Hywel is putting forward his argument;  “Think how much it costs the council to deal with fly tipping,”
"It is a big problem"
and Diane agrees it is a big problem.
Hywel maintains that Pwll Bach is the answer to the problems
“The problem will disappear when Pwll Bach opens, and the council will save thousands,” he goes on.
Jim angrily stresses that he was saying the same thing;  “So you can’t oppose it, can you?” Hywel concludes.
"You always were a bad loser!"
Angela wades into the conversation, maintaining that Jim was always a bad loser, and that Hywel has thought it through.
"Sioned's had an accident while skiing!"
Eifion rushes in, demanding why Jim did not answer his phone;  “Sioned’s had an accident while skiing!   Someone from the chalet phoned – he didn’t have much English.
"A head injury, I think!"
“It sounded worse than a broken leg – a head injury, I think.   Eileen’s not answering her phone either.”   The two of them leave the café,
Angela looks stunned
and Angela looks stunned.
Despairing Dani
Dani is in despair as Garry hands her an envelope containing money;
Garry has provided the money
“You found it – where’s the box?” she says, but he reveals it is his own money.
"You're not bailing me out!"
“You’re not bailing me out!” she insists;  he explains he does not want her getting into trouble, which is what will happen if this comes out.
"They'll want to know why their cheques haven't cleared"
She argues that Siôn and the others will ask why their cheques have not cleared,
Garry has thought of everything
and Garry advises, “Just say you lost them and paid out of your pocket – give it to one of the other charities you support – tell them it was a better use of the money.”
"But there is one condition"
She realises she does not have much choice, but he adds one condition;  that she give up the charity idea, and she has to agree.
"I'm not responsible enough"
“I’m obviously not responsible enough to run one anyway,” she admits.
Still no reply from Eileen
Back at Penrhewl, Jim is trying to contact Eileen, but with no success;  he leaves a message for her to contact him urgently.
"I understood enough to know it's serious!"
“I understood enough to know it’s serious!” Eifion says.
Angela does not receive a warm welcome
Angela arrives, demanding if they have heard any more, but Jim points out it is none of her business.
"Jim, I speak some French"
“Jim, I speak some French,” she tells him, and Eifion points out that if they want more information, they do not have much choice.
She prepares to ring back the number
He finds the number on redial, and hands the phone to Angela.
Two wins – this cannot last!
In the betting shop, it appears that Jason has, against all the odds, bet on another winner;  he and Sandra are in high spirits.   “You see?   I told you to hold your nerve,” he says, “You should listen to me more often –
"There is almost £8,000 here!"
“there is almost £8,000 here!”
"Just bank it, Jase!"
When she advises him to bank it, he reminds her that would still leave a big hole;  “So why don’t we . . . just one more?
"We're on a roll – we can't lose!"
“We’re on a roll – we can’t lose!”
When she realises that he intends to bet it all, she regards it as too big a gamble,
"You know I'm right!"
but he accuses her of talking nonsense;  “You know I’m right!”
Angela converses in French
Angela appears to be getting through to the Frenchman on the phone, but asks him to repeat what he said.
"I found Eileen's phone in the bedroom"
Jim has found Eileen’s phone in the bedroom, which explains why she is not answering.   She was expecting to spend the day shopping, so he has no idea when she will be back.
"Sioned went over a steep cliff"
Angela ends the call, and tells them what she has learned;  “She went out on a black run, it started to snow heavily and visibility was poor.   She had been missing for a while, after going over a steep cliff.
"The air ambulance took her to hospital"
“She suffered a head injury and the air ambulance took her to the nearest hospital.   I couldn’t understand everything, but I have a number for the hospital.”
Angela intends to phone the hospital now for more information,
"Why don't we go and try to find Eileen?"
and Eifion proposes that he and Jim go to Carmarthen to try and find Eileen.
"I'll contact you if I hear anything"
Angela will contact them if she hears anything;  “It’s better than sitting here,” says Eifion.
Siôn is easily taken in by Dani's explanation
Siôn appreciates Dani’s explanation, and offers to write another cheque, but she says she has paid it all in now,
She tells him to donate to this website instead
and he can check another website.   She tells Garry that there is almost £100 extra now, thanks to Gift Aid.
Anita talks about her CwmFM programme
Anita is having a chat with Hywel, and suggests discussing the matter on her programme next week, instead of the folk session, as it is such a hot topic.   He is under the impression that she supports the project,
"The audience can make up their own mind"
but she contests that claim, pointing out that there are advantages and disadvantages;  “I think I’ll let the audience make their own mind up.”
Rhys wants to leave some flyers at the Deri . . .
Rhys comes in with flyers for a new offer at the gym,
. . . but Dani has other ideas
but Dani is not interested;  “I don’t want the Deri linked with Hywel’s dirty plans!”   Rhys points out that he is nothing to do with his father’s business;
"You're opposed to it, are you?"
“So you’re opposed to it, are you?” Dani demands.
Rhys replies that it is not black and white, and takes his flyers away with him, on the way refusing a drink from his father.
"I haven't stopped being green!"
“I might have given the charity up, but I haven’t stopped being green!” Dani informs Garry.
"You must be busy, Jason"
Sara is leaving a message for Jason;  “I’ve tried to phone numerous times, but you must be busy.   Listen, Siôn has asked me to help him choose a kitchen, so I’d like to discuss a few options with you.”
They do not look too hopeful this time
The race has reached its final stages, as Jason and Sandra avidly watch the screen;  the result is as might have been expected – a total loss –
Just how is everything 'going to be all right'?
but Sandra is still under the impression that everything will be all right.
Jason is distraught . . .
Jason obviously thinks otherwise, as he shouts and kicks the table
. . . and thumps the fruit machine
and hits the fruit machine;  he is told to behave by the girl behind the counter.
"What has happened to me, Sand?"
He demands, “What has happened to me, Sand?   I’ve lost all my savings – mine and Sara’s savings!   What have we done?”
She can think of no consoling words
Sandra has no answer, and he storms out of the betting shop.
All the shopping has exhausted Huwi
Eileen is back home, and wonders where Huwi’s Dadi is, wanting to show him what they have bought;
Angela fails to get another welcome
Angela comes into the room, and Eileen demands what she is doing there.
"Sioned has been in a skiing accident!"
Jim arrives home and explains, “Don’t get upset, but Sioned has been in a skiing accident!”
"She's critical – in a coma!"
Angela has just been talking to one of the nurses;  “She got a bad skull injury – she’s had an emergency operation and is in a coma.   She is in a critical condition.
"She needs her mother!"
“The hospital isn’t far from the airport, and flights go from Bristol.”
Eileen is furious when Angela suggests she could look after Huwi while her mother goes to Sioned’s bedside;
"Leave you on your own with my son?"
“Leave you on your own with my son – after what you did?” she roars.
"She's young and strong – she will be fine"
Eifion and Angela leave them alone, but Angela hangs around just by the door;  Jim assures Eileen that Sioned is young and strong;  “She will be fine, I swear.”
