There has apparently been an incident at school
Next morning, Gaynor goes to talk to Gwyneth about Gwern, who it appears has been misbehaving at school;
"Aaron's arm was a bit bruised"
“I wanted to have a word with you before going to see Britt – there was no real harm done, according to the school nurse.    Aaron’s arm was a little bruised.”
"They've always been physical with each other"
Gwyneth points out that Gwern and Aaron have always been physical with each other;  “They’re two cousins – what do you expect?” she asks.   Gaynor’s reply is that from what she has heard, Gwern was quite threatening.
"No, nothing's happened"
Gwyneth regards this as rather a joke, as she is asked if anything has happened recently – any arguments – but denies any knowledge of such a thing.
"He's been rather disruptive . . ."
Gaynor continues, “There is something else, which I should perhaps have raised earlier, but I’ve received complaints from members of staff who say that Gwern has been behaving bit disruptively.
". . . whereas he's usually quiet and conscientous"
“He’s been cheeky to a few of teachers, which is odd, because he’s always been a quiet and conscientious pupil.”
"You won't have any more trouble with him"
Gwyneth agrees to have a word with him, and promises that the school will not have any more trouble with him, but when Gaynor has left, she looks concerned.
"Mam didn't see the joke at all!"
As they are having a game of darts in the garage office, Mark says that his mother did not see the joke at all;  “To be honest, she was very angry with Diane and DJ for making a fool of her!”   Eifion cannot believe that she really thought they were making porn, and if she did, Gerwyn wonders what sort of mind Kath has.
"You'll be over this afternoon, will you?"
Eifion is now leaving, and Gerwyn will visit the farm this afternoon to look at the tractor;  he is told not to forget the darts tonight.
"Haven't you got a home to go to, Mark?"
Garry comes in and comments to Mark, “Haven’t you got a home to go to?”
"Debbie's asked him for a divorce"
Gerwyn rebukes him for being quite so nasty, and reveals that Debbie has asked him for a divorce.
“Divorce?   They’ve only just got married!” says Garry,
"All those rumours haven't helped"
and Gerwyn does not think that all the rumours about Debbie and Gwyneth have helped.
“Mark seems to be under the impression that they could sort the whole thing out – I just hope he doesn’t get hurt any more,” groans Gerwyn.
Now Gaynor is visiting Colin and Britt
Gaynor has now gone to see Britt and Colin, explaining to them that Gwyneth is going to have a word with Gwern about the incident.
"That's how they are, always messing about"
Britt remarks that is how they are, always messing around, but Colin agrees that sometimes things go too far.
"There is counselling available"
Gaynor points out that counselling is available, if either of the children need it,
"That won't be necessary, Gaynor"
but Britt does not consider that will be necessary;  “We’ll have a chat with Aaron,” she says.
"Get over here, Garry – now!"
Immediately Gaynor leaves, Britt makes a phone call;  “Get over here,  Garry – now!” she instructs.
Gwyneth wants to get shot of Debbie
At number 9, Gwyneth asks Debbie, “Are you willing to look for somewhere else to live?”   This comes as rather a surprise to Debbie, and she says that she needs a week or two to arrange something, but Gwyneth wants her to move quicker than that.
Gwern thinks this looks disturbing
She is holding a pair of scissors, in what might be construed as a threatening gesture, as she suggests that Debbie could start looking this afternoon, and Gwern who has silently returned from school, is watching.
"I'm worried about the effect it's having on Gwern"
Debbie wonders why the sudden rush to get rid of her, and is told, “People are saying we’re in a relationship – and I’m worried about the effect it’s having on Gwern.”
"Gwern knows that's not true!"
Debbie insists that Gwern knows very well there is no sort of relationship.
Gwyneth goes on, “But you live here – and I know he’s getting stick at school.   Something must have upset him this afternoon – why else would he have pushed Aaron?
"I have to put Gwern first"
“I’m worried about Gwern, and I have to put him first.   You’ll have to find somewhere else.”   Debbie will try her best.
"Did Gwern push you?"
In the chippy flat, Aaron is faced with an inquisition;  “Did Gwern push you?” demands Garry, but he explains that they were both running for the door, they crashed into each other, and then Gwern pushed him.
"It's no big deal!"
Mr Hughes had seen this and told Gwern off – Aaron says that it is no big deal.
"He saw Gwyneth and me arguing . . ."
Britt wants to know what is going on with Gwern;  Garry admits, “He saw Gwyneth and me arguing –
". . . he knows Gwyneth killed Brandon . . ."
“and he knows that Gwyneth killed Brandon.
". . . he may have seen Gwyneth threatening me with scissors"
“He may have seen Gwyneth threatening me with a pair of scissors.”
"It's about time you two sorted yourselves out, good boy!"
Britt snarls, “It’s about time you two sorted yourselves out, good boy – and started acting like parents!”
"Everything went wrong today!"
Izzy comes home to Llwyncelyn and asks her mother what sort of day she has had;  Gaynor groans, “Terrible – everything went wrong – cousins fighting!   I should have hidden in the storeroom all day, like Hywel suggested!”
"Has he been here, then?"
Izzy wonders whether he has been there, but is told that he only texted;  “I thought you weren’t going to go back there,” scolds Izzy,
"We're just friends – who text each other!"
but Gaynor makes it quite clear that they are just friends – who text each other.
"Remember how he treated you in the past"
Izzy will not leave it, but reminds her mother, “Just remember how he treated you in the past – and be careful!”
Gwern tries to creep in unnoticed . . .
Gwern slips quietly into the Deri, but Garry notices him heading towards the stairs and stops him;
. . . but is unsuccessful
“Have you talked to your mother?” he demands, “You’d better go and see her – she’s worried about you.
"Your Mam won't give you a hard time"
“I know something happened at school with Aaron, but she won’t give you a hard time.”
“How do you know?” Gwern asks, and Garry replies that he knows everything;
"I don't want to go there if she's angry, Dad"
“I don’t want to go there if she’s angry, Dad,” he says, and continues upstairs.
Colin stares vacantly into space
Britt brings in the washing, and find Colin standing in a state of  complete bemusement;
"What's wrong with you, Col?"
she wonders what on earth is wrong with him.
"I've just got off the phone with some art dealer"
“I’ve just got off the phone with some art dealer in London,” he gasps, “She’s got a client in Dubai who’s seen the mural on the wall – he’s made us an offer!   Half a million!”
"I'm serious – half a blinkin' million!"

Britt assumes that he is pulling her leg, but he exclaims, “I’m serious – half a blinkin’ million!”
Excited cries . . .
and they hug each other with triumphant shouts.
. . . greet Aaron on his arrival
Aaron come in, wanting to know what is going on,
"You're not going to believe this!"
and Britt shouts, “You’re not going to believe this!”
"I shall have to talk to Gwern"
Garry has gone to see Gwyneth, who says she will have to talk to Gwern;
"He's a bit worried about coming back here"
“Yeah, but he’s a bit worried about coming back here,” begins Garry, “He’s scared of facing you, although I told him you won’t give him any hassle.
"He doesn't feel comfortable in your company"
“He doesn’t feel comfortable in your company – after that business at the salon.”
"You wrecked the place!"
She angrily responds, “It wasn’t just me – you wrecked the place!” and he acknowledges they are both to blame,
"What am I going to do"
but it is his mother who Gwern is frightened of.   “What am I going to do?
"We shall have to spend some time together"
“I’ll have to take him away, so we can spend some time together,” she suggests, and he says that if Gwern is willing to do that, so is he.
"I heard you've been fighting"
As they walk along the street, Guto comments to Aaron, “I heard you’ve been fighting,” but Aaron points out it was not that bad – after all, Gwern is only 10 years old, and the teachers overreacted.
"I might not be in school much longer"
“Anyway, I might not be in school for much longer – I might be moving house – a much bigger place with a massive garden!   Abroad, probably.   Don’t tell anyone, right?
"A bloke in Dubai has offered half a million!"
“A bloke from Dubai has offered half a million for the mural!
"I won't breathe a word, mate"
“But don’t say a word to anyone, do you hear?”
"It's all my fault, Gwern"
Gwern has come home to number 9, but does not seem in talkative mood;  Gwyneth tells him how sorry she is, and admits that it is all her fault.
"It breaks my heart that you saw what you did"
“It breaks my heart that you saw and heard what you did,” she says,
Gwern says nothing
but he simply shakes his head.
“Your father and I are friends now – we’ve sorted everything, and it’s important to me that we’re all right,”
"Why don't we go away for the weekend?"
she goes on, “Listen, why don’t we go away for the weekend?   We can go to Cardiff, Oakwood, wherever you want.”
"No – I don't want to"
Gwern refuses this offer;  “No – I don’t want to!” he says, and goes upstairs.
"Can I put this up, Garry?"
Mark brings a leaflet advertising a darts game to the Deri, and Garry jokes that he has been a pest at the garage;  “Of course you can put it up, Mark,” he smiles,
"Gwyneth has asked Debbie to move out"
“Sorry to hear about you and Debbie – just so you know, Gwyneth has asked Debbie to move out – after all these rumours that they’re together.   Gwern was being bullied a bit.”
Brenda wants another vodka and orange
Brenda comes across to the bar for another vodka and orange, and tells Garry that Gerwyn has become rather obsessed with darts.
"What's this rumour, then?"
Then she asks, “What’s this rumour then?   That some bloke from abroad wants to pay a fortune for that bear thing – haven’t you heard anything?   Aaron told our Guto earlier – from what I understand, it’s a bloke from Dubai – for half a million.”
"Oh, very droll, Brenda!"
Garry thinks this is very amusing,
"I expect he would have to buy the whole building"
but Brenda assumes that he would have to buy the whole building, and believes that it is owned by Garry.
"That place in Llanarthur was so grubby!"
Debbie has had a fruitless visit to Tomos ac Ellis, and has looked at one place in Llanarthur, but it was very grubby and the rent was out of reach.
"I know it's difficult"
Gwyneth appreciates that it is hard for her, and then a message appears on Debbie’s phone;
"I said all I have to say last week"
Mark wants to meet her, but she maintains that she said everything she has to say last week.
"It's important that you still talk to each other"
Gwyneth recommends that is important they still talk to each other and have a good relationship.
"If only that Aaron had kept his mouth shut!"
Britt is now furious with Aaron, and Colin had instructed him to keep his mouth shut;  meanwhile, Garry is quite pleased about the fact, “I’m going to get half a million!”
"No, Garry – we're going to get half a million!"
Britt points out, “We, Garry – we’re going to get half a million, not just you!”
"I own that wall, mind!"
He reminds them that he owns the wall, and she stresses that Colin has been protecting that wall every night.
“All right – 90% for me, 10% for you!” Garry proposes, and Colin complains that he could have caught double pneumonia, protecting that wall.
"Come on – 50/50, Gar!"
Britt favours a 50/50 split, but he insists that his final offer to them is 25%.
"No-one else is to know about it, right?"
“And nobody else is to know about it – the last thing we want is someone wrecking that mural, right?”
They are now seething with anger
Now Britt is even more angry.
"Postman not here yet then?"
Gerwyn comes into the Deri, and sees Eifion and Izzy;  he wonders where the postman is,
"I don't want to embarrass Eifion"
and asks if Izzy is joining them for the darts, but she says she does not want to embarrass Eifion in front of his mates, and leaves, warning Gerwyn not to give him too much of a hiding.
Brenda finds someone to buy her a drink
Gerwyn goes to the bar to order, and his mother takes advantage, saying she will have another vodka and orange, as he is paying.
She asks if Garry has found out anything about that bear thing,
"Britt and Colin don't know anything about it"
and he replies that Britt and Colin do not know anything about a foreign buyer.   “Perhaps Guto is pulling your leg!” he suggests.
"Someone wants to pay half a million for that mural"
She tells Gerwyn about the foreign buyer for the mural, and Garry reckons it is a shame that the rumour is not true.
Mark waits out in the park
Out in the park, Mark is waiting for the arrival of Debbie;
"How's Ricky?"
he sees her approaching, and again she asks about Ricky.
"Have you told him we're getting divorcrd?"
“Have you told him we’re getting divorced?” she asks,
"I want him to get settled in first"
but Mark wants him to get settled in first, so that it does not affect his work, although he is not sure how much work he is doing.
They are pleased to see each other again
They agree that it is nice to see each other again, and sit down at a picnic table.
"I'll treat you to a curry tomorrow night . . ."
Izzy asks if she has time for shower before dinner, and promises that she will treat her mother to a curry tomorrow night;
". . . unless you've got plans with someone else!"
“Unless you’ve got plans with someone else?” she adds.
"There's nothing going on between us"
Gaynor is getting tired of this innuendo, and once again emphasises that there is nothing going on between her and Hywel.   “Go and have a shower – this will be ready in ten minutes,” Gaynor tells her, and then her phone sounds;
A text arrives from Hywel . . .
there is a message from Hywel, “Did you get hold of that Rioja?”
. . . and she takes a selfie . . .
In reply she sends him a photo of her drinking a glass of it,
. . . to send to him
with the message, “You’ll have to come over and share a bottle.”
"It was awful – it smelled like your feet!|
“It was awful, Mark – there was damp everywhere – it smelled like your feet!” she complains, “And they were charging £500 a month.”   He agrees that she cannot live somewhere like that, and she is not sure what she is going to do.
"Come back to Maes-y-Deri, Debs . . ."
“Come back to Maes-y-Deri,” he suggests,
". . . until you find somewhere else"
“Just temporarily – until you find somewhere else.”   Debbie knows that Kath would never agree to it,
"I think I could persuade Mam"
but he thinks that he could persuade her.
“No, Mark!” she tells him, and he wonders how they got to this point.   He demands if she is still sure this is what she wants, and
"This is the best way for us all to move on"
Debbie predicts, “You’ll thank me in the end – and you’ll realise that this was the best way for us all to move on.”
"I don't think I can move on!"
Mark is by no means sure that he can move on;
"I think, deep down, you feel the same way"
“And I think, deep down, you feel the same way.   I know this isn’t what you want.”
"I don't love you any more . . ."
She exclaims quite clearly, “I don’t love you any more – and the sooner you accept that, the better.
". . . just sign the papers!"
“Just sign the papers!”
Debbie walks away from him . . .
She walks away,
. . . and Mark is devastated
leaving Mark close to tears.
