Jason makes sure everything is ready
Jason is becoming very excited, which is more than can be said for Sara;  “Right – passports, check!   Euros, check!   Wife, check!”   Diane hopes that he has practised his French,
"I love Paris"
and reminisces that she loves Paris, with the Seine and the Eiffel Tower.   She is surprised that Sara has packed so little for the trip.
Sara is downhearted
“A few tops, a pair of jeans and a dress is enough,” Sara replies, unenthusiastically,
"I always pack enough for a month"
and Diane says she always packs as if she is going for a month, and then she leaves for APD, promising that she will be back before they depart.
"The sooner we're out of this madhouse, the better"
Jason sighs, “The sooner we’re out of this madhouse, the better – it will be just us!”   Sara points out that there will be thousands of other tourists;  he assures her, “But only one that matters to me!”
Jaclyn is thinking about the twins' 18th birthday . . .
Jaclyn is confiding to Dylan, “The thing is, I always give the kids money on their birthday, but 18 is different, isn’t it?   I was thinking of getting them something special – a watch, perhaps – what do you think?”
. . . but Dylan is otherwise occupied
Dylan appears to be engrossed with his phone,
"Don't text her – she's made her decision"
and she scolds him, “Don’t text her – Sara’s made her decision!”
"She doesn't want to go to Paris with Jason"
He is adamant that Sara does not want to go to Paris with Jason, but she points out that he is her husband;
"Let her go, Dyl!"
“Let her go, Dyl – it will be easier for everyone!   Are you going to help me pick a present?   You’ve got good taste.”
Diane is arriving at APD
As they go into number 10, Diane arrives at APD,
Jim's expression is enough to put off the customers
where she finds Jim standing, looking very solemn, behind the counter.   “I’ve been talking to Garry,” she begins, “Thanks to your performance in the Deri, he won’t give us the contract for the salon.   You have to apologise to him!”
"How would Garry like someone to report him?"
Jim demands, “How would Garry like it if someone reported him for drink-driving?   I’m the one who should be getting an apology.”   Diane explains to him that losing this contract could cost APD thousands,
"I'm not apologising to anyone
but he snarls, “You can’t put a price on self-respect!   I’m not apologising to anyone!”
Jim marches out of the shop
and he marches out of the shop.   She shouts after him that she has to go home and look after Ifan, but he takes no notice.
Coffee – with whipped cream
In the café, Gwen is making Kath’s coffee, and is asked for some whipped cream on the top.
"That sounds like a line from one of Ffion's dirty movies!"
Eifion is sitting nearby, and remarks, “That sounds like a line from one of Ffion’s dirty movies!”   She tells him to stick to farming, as he is not funny.
"If you want me to strip, I'd rather go out the back!'
Then Ffion comes in, and he offers, “If you want me to strip, I’d rather go out the back!”   She brusquely tells him to grow up, and he adds, “You didn’t really think Ffion was making dodgy films, did you, Kath?”
"Diane and DJ were the ones with the wooden spoon"
Ffion makes it quite clear that Diane and DJ were the ones with the wooden spoon, and Eifion laughs, “Diane and DJ and a wooden spoon?   Blimey, your films are very niche!”
"Can't we put it all behind us?"
Ffion is very sorry about what happened and would like to put it all behind them;  she even offers to pay for Kath’s coffee, but this is refused.   Ffion continues that Arwen was ill last night, Rhys has a meeting and she has loads to do, so wonders if Kath could do some babysitting.
"Oh – that's why you're apologising"
“Oh – that’s why you’re apologising,” answers Kath, “If you’ve got a lot to do, you’d better go and get on with it!”
Jim has another go at Ffion
Ffion walks disconsolately out of the café, and in the road is confronted by Jim again;
"I still think you did it!"
“I still think you did it!” he growls, “I don’t drink and drive!”
Ffion spells it out to him that she did not phone the police – and what he said to her in the Deri was disgusting;
"I was only in the Deri when you came back and shouted at everyone!"
“Jim, I was not in the Deri – only when you came back and shouted at everyone!   Get your facts straight before you start accusing people in public again!”
"What do you know about the police, then?"
Dylan happens to be passing, and so Jim demands if he knows something about the police,
"Oh, I see – you two are in cahoots!"
for some reason concluding, “Oh, I see – you two are in cahoots – I wasn’t born yesterday!”
"We do some vigilante work in our spare time!"
Dylan sarcastically replies, “Oh yeah, you’re right – we do some vigilante work in our spare time!”   Jim warns him not to poke fun at him;  “Why?   What are you going to do about it?” Dylan demands.
"Im not afraid of you!"
Jim insists that he is not afraid of Dylan, and Diane tries to defuse the situation.
"Go and cool down, Jim"
“This is my business when you’re wearing an APD shirt!” she informs him, “Go and cool down.   I’ve had to close the shop, and I’m late going home – we’re losing customers because of you!”
"I'm not leaving until I get the truth!"
She instructs Eifion to take him home, but Jim is determined he is not leaving until he gets the truth.
"You won't get that by shouting at everyone"
Eifion points out that he will not get that by shouting at everyone;  “You’re embarrassing yourself,” he says,
"Come on, Jim"
and escorts Jim to the waiting 4x4.
"We're going to miss our flight!'
At Bryntirion, Jason is becoming anxious as his mother has not returned yet;  “Where is she, Sara?   We’re going to miss our flight!”   At that moment she returns, and tells them to blame Jim, not her.
"Look, we've got to leave, Mam!"
She explains that they could lose the contract for the salon, but Jason is not interested, eager to leave immediately.
A rugby ball for Ifan
Diane gives Ifan a rugby ball, which his Grandad has bought for him, and Jason urges Sara to get a move on;
"Be a good boy for Gran"
he says goodbye to his son and his mother.
"It will be like a second honeymoon, Sara"
She tells Sara to enjoy herself, predicting that it will be like a second honeymoon, then they leave the house.
"Arwen, have you seen my laptop?"
Arwen is on her iPad as Ffion asks if she has seen the laptop;
Then she finds a picture by Arwen
during her search for it she finds a picture which Arwen has drawn,
"That's you and Mam, is it?"
and assumes that it depicts her daughter and her.
"That's not you . . ."
“It’s not you,” Arwen replies,
". . . it's Auntie Kath!"
“It’s Auntie Kath!”
There is some problem with the taxi
John Post is delving into the engine compartment of the taxi, much to Jason’s displeasure;
"Gerwyn is just round the corner!"
“If you can’t fix it, John, go to the garage – Gerwyn is just round the corner.”    Sara warns him not to shout at her, as it is not her fault,
"Sorry, Sara"
and he apologises.
"When we get to Paris, we'll be all right"
He predicts that as soon as they are in Paris they will be all right;
The 'spanner in the works' appears in the doorway
then across the road, we see the door of number 10 open, and Dylan watches them.
"I love you, Sara"
“Sara, look, I love you – and that’s never going to change,” Jason says, as she looks across at Dylan.
"Come on, John – the airport, please!"
The bonnet slams shut, and at last Jason wants to get going;  “Come on, John – the airport, please!” he says, “I can taste the champagne already!”
"I can't think of anything worse!"
However, Sara has other ideas;  “John, stop!” she shouts, and opens the car door. “There was a time when I would have been excited to go away with you, but I can’t think of anything worse!” she groans.
Sara disappears into number 10 . . .
Releasing her seatbelt, she gets out of the car and walks towards the door of number 10.   Dylan opens it and she goes inside;
. . . while Madge and Geraint watch what is going on
Madge and Geraint witness Jason’s devastation.
"I'm sorry, Dylan"
In the house, Sara is in tears, and apologises to Dylan, but he assures her that it is OK.
"He's still over there"
The taxi has driven away by now,
Jason looks a pathetic figure
and Jason is left, alone and desolate, on the pavement.
"You're safe here with me"
Again Dylan comforts Sara that she is safe with him – he is here for her.
"That was a performance, was it not?"
When they get back to the farmhouse, Eifion complains that Jim made a real performance, but Jim is unrepentant;
"That Ffion can't fool me!"
“If Ffion had just admitted it, I wouldn’t have been angry!   She denied that she was there – she can’t fool me!”
Eifion tells him to sit down;  “I’ll make you a cup of tea and a bacon sandwich,”
"I want justice, not a sandwich!"
but Jim rants on about wanting justice, not a sandwich.   “Does it matter who reported you?” asks Eifion, and Jim is quite adamant that it matters to him – he could have lost his licence.   “But you didn’t,” Eifion reminds him.
Jim tries to re-enact the scene in the Deri
Jim sits at the table and mutters, “If we say that Ffion is the salt and I’m the pepper – who else was there?”
Afternoon tea for Dai on the patio
Outside Bryntirion, on the patio, Diane brings Dai, who is sweeping up, a cup of tea, and reports that Ifan is having a nap;  “You can play with the ball with him later, Grandad,” she says.
Jason returns alone
Then they see a grim-faced Jason walking towards them;
"What have you forgotten now?"
Dai demands, “What on earth are you doing here?   What have you forgotten now?   The flight won’t wait for you!”
"Where's Sara?"
Diane asks where Sara is.
"Sara has left me – she's with Dylan now!"
“Sara has left me!” Jason announces, and his mother is astounded;  “She’s with Dylan now!” he goes on.
"You're going to find her and take her to Paris!"
Diane instructs him that he is to go down to the village, find his wife, and take her to Paris, but he shakes his head.   “You can’t give up just like that!” she urges him;
"All right – I'll go then!"
“All right – I’ll go then!   No-one treats my son like this!”
"I have a present from Arwen"
Ffion visits Maes-y-Deri, and tells Kath she has a present from Arwen;  “As I said, she misses Auntie Kath.”
"She hasn't got the hair right"
Kath replies that she has not got the hair right;  “You and Arwen have clicked – she doesn’t stop asking about you,” Ffion goes on,
"There's something special between you"
“There’s something special between you – I don’t want some misunderstanding to spoil things.
"Would you be available for an hour or two?"
“So are you available for an hour or two this afternoon?”
Kath will give it some thought
Kath says that she might consider it, which is enough for Ffion, who looks forward to seeing her shortly.
"I don't regret it"
Sara tells Dylan, “You should have seen his face when I left him in the taxi – but I don’t regret it.   We couldn’t carry on, not the way we were –
"There's so much to sort out now"
“there’s so much to sort out now, with Ifan and a divorce.”
He tell her to take one step at a time, and she will be fine;
"Don't forget, I'm here for you"
he repeats that he is here for her.
"You've been moping over Sara all day?"
Then the door opens and Jaclyn rushes in, commenting, “Don’t tell me – you’ve been moping over Sara all day.”
"Sara has left Jason"
She turns round and is surprised to see Sara, who, Dylan explains, has left Jason, and he wants her to stay there tonight.   Jaclyn is not very pleased about this, so Sara will go up to the bathroom, to give them a chance to talk.
"What do you think you're doing?"
“What do you think you’re doing?” Jaclyn demands, “Can’t she go anywhere else? He replies that he wants to look after her, but she points out, “Sara has a little boy!”
"Well, I'll look after both of them, then"
and he stresses that he will look after both of them.
"I don't want to cause a fuss"
Sara reappears, apologetically saying that she does not want to cause a fuss,
"You're going to stay here – isn't she, Jacs?""
but Dylan is quite adamant that she is going to stay with them.
Now an angry Diane arrives . . .
There is a knock at the door, and Diane walks in;
. . . and her hand is a blur as she administers a hefty slap
she immediately gives Sara a good slap across the face.    “That’s for breaking Jason’s heart!” she snarls,
"I didn't want to hurt him"
but Sara pleads that she did not want to hurt him.
"If anything happens to him, it will be your fault!"
“You know how fragile he is – if anything happens to him, it will be your fault – remember that!   All right – I’m leaving –
"I've said what I had to say"
“I’ve said what I had to say.”   She marches out of the house again,
Dylan hugs Sara . . .
and Dylan hugs Sara,
. . . while Jaclyn looks disapproving
much to Jaclyn’s disapproval.
"I've got to deal with that delivery of pellets"
Jim is still toying with the condiments on the table, and mutters, “There was someone else at the bar.”   Eifion has work to do, as there is a delivery of pellets to be put away in the big shed.
"I'm trying to concentrate here!"
Jim tells him to be quiet;  “I’m trying to concentrate!” but Eifion points out that he has a farm to run.
"That's what I'm paying you for!"
“That’s what I’m paying you for!” is Jim’s response, “Someone is trying to ruin me, and I won’t stop until I find out who!   And then I’ll get revenge!”
Aldi brown sauce has joined Jim's cast list
Jim resumes moving around the salt and pepper, Aldi brown sauce and ketchup, and he mumbles, “Me, Ffion, Iolo, Rhys – so who is this, then?” as he looks in puzzlement at the mustard pot.
Jason looks at the rugby ball
Jason is still standing outside Bryntirion, looking at the rugby ball, when Dai brings him a cup of tea, and informs him that Ifan is flat out.
"Been a bit of a day, hasn't it?"
He comments that it has been a bit of a day, and Jason agrees, “It’s not in the top ten – put it that way.
"If we could get to Paris, everything would be all right"
“I just kept telling myself, if we could get to Paris, everything would be all right.   But there we are, now I'm here on my own.”
"You're not on your own, Jason"
Dai emphasises that he is not one to make a fuss, but Jason is not on his own;  “You’ve got your Mam – and I’m here as well, if it comes to that.”
Diane returns from her errand in the village
Then he sees Diane, returning from the village, and remarks that he was getting worried about her;  “I was thinking about sending out a search party.”
"You didn't hit her, did you, Mam?"
Diane enlightens them that she had a chat with ‘madam’;  “You didn’t hit her, did you?” wonders Jason, and is told that she deserved it.
"I don't blame Sara for leaving"
He insists, “Mam, I deserve it if anyone does – I ruined our marriage – I don’t blame Sara for leaving.”
"I knew it was over, the minute I saw them"
“After all these years of marriage, you’re just going to give up?” Diane demands.   He answers that he has tried, but cannot compete with what Dylan’s got – he knew it was over from the moment he saw them.
"Are you telling me you knew something was going on?"
“Hang on – are you telling me you knew something was going on?” his mother rages, “And you didn’t say anything?”   Jason did tell him to stay away, but he obviously was not listening.
"Where's your backbone?"
“Where’s your backbone?” Diane growls, “We’ve tiptoed around this for months – what sort of man lets his wife have an affair right under his nose?”
Dai protests that Jason is suffering enough, without her sticking the knife in,
"It's my life, Mam!"
and Jason himself stresses, “It’s  my life, Mam, and it’s up to me how I deal with it.”
"You're supposed to set an example for Ifan!"
She reminds him about Ifan, and that he is supposed to set an example;
"He deserves so much better than you!"
“He deserves so much better than you!” she snaps.
