Gaynor is surprised to find Eifion there . . .
Gaynor, in her dressing gown, comes downstairs to find Eifion drinking coffee;  he advises, “Izzy said it was OK for me to stay – there’s no problem, is there?
. . . and he has finished the milk
“It will have to be black coffee, sorry, I’ve finished the milk.”
This does nothing to improve Gaynor’s mood,
He thinks he had better go
then Izzy comes in, and Eifion thinks that he had better go, as he has a lot to do, and will see Izzy tonight.   As soon as he is out of the back door, Gaynor snarls, “Hasn’t he got his own home to go to?”
"Do you remember what having fun is like?"
Izzy points out that they are just having a bit of fun, and wonders if her mother still remembers what that is.
"He's not some serial killer, Mam!"
“Just be careful!” she warns, and Izzy reminds her that it is just Eifion, and not some serial killer;  she is now leaving for work, as they want to talk to her about something.
"I didn't say anything about the Kids' Club"
“I didn’t say anything about the Kids’ Club,” Gaynor reassures her, but is told that they sounded quite jolly on the phone.   Izzy will see her mother for lunch in the Deri.
Sara frantically searches for her keys
Sara is unable to find her keys, and is panicking;  she looks through the papers on the table, much to Jason’s annoyance, as he is making plans.
"They're for my new enterprise, Sara"
“They’re for the new enterprise, Sara,” he announces, “About organising holidays for young people – that’s what I think this should be – a company that organises adventure holidays for young people.
She locates her keys
She is taking very little notice, but has now found the keys in her coat pocket and is about to dash off to Tapas.
"I was hoping you could help me"
He had been hoping that she could help him with his project, but she has to sort out orders and other things;
"One of us has to go to work"
“One of us has to go out to work,” she points out.
"I thought you'd be pleased"
He is offended;  “Thanks very much – I thought you’d be pleased!”   She invites him to come over at lunchtime, and she will look through things with him.
"There's no reason why he won't make a full recovery"
As they come in the back door of Maes-y-Deri, Mark says, “You heard what the doctor said – with the right kind of rehab, there’s no reason why he won’t make a full recovery.”
"And what if he doesn't get better?"
Debbie is not so optimistic;  “And what if he doesn’t get better?   We have no idea how much damage this has done to Ricky, or how it will affect his life!”
"We have to be positive, Debs"
Mark urges her to be positive, but she snaps, “Stop saying that!”
"I've brought you a moussaka"
They are interrupted by Gaynor, who has come visiting, having brought them a moussaka, and Mark is very grateful to her.
"He's getting better slowly"
She asks about Ricky, and is told that he is getting better slowly;  Gaynor wonders if anyone knows exactly what happened,
"It's none of your business!"
and Debbie growls at her, “No – not that it’s any of your business!”
Gaynor reminds them that if there is anything she can do to help,
"I don't even like moussaka!"
but Debbie continues, “Are you an expert on head injuries?   Or do you know if my son is ever going to get his memory back?   I don’t even like moussaka!”
"Well, more for me, then!"
She walks out of the back door and Mark comments to Gaynor, “Well, more for me.”
Jaclyn is singing as she works . . .
As she polishes the desk in the Tapas office, Jaclyn is singing,
. . . and is overheard by Gerwyn . . .
and Gerwyn walks in unnoticed;
. . . who joins in with her
then he starts singing with her.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome Miss Jaclyn Parry!"
Sara comes in as he is introducing, “Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the Carole King of the valleys, Miss Jaclyn Parry!”
"I heard about the karaoke the other night"
Sara had heard about the karaoke the other night, and Gerwyn remarks, “She had a voice that brought tears to your eyes – or perhaps that was the free shots!”
"I stopped singing when the children came along"
Jaclyn says that she stopped singing when the children came along, and Sara would sing every night – if she could.   Jaclyn is becoming tired of Gerwyn’s sarcastic comments,
"I shall be home late tonight"
and he just warns that he will be back home from work late tonight, as he collecting some parts.
"Be grateful you're not married to him!"
When he leaves, Jaclyn tells Sara to be grateful she is not married to him.
Aaron's plans for today . . .
Aaron informs his mother that he had plans for today, but she wants him to help in the chippy;
. . . are overruled by his mother
“We haven’t spent any time together over the holidays,” she complains, “We can have a laugh now!”
“Working in here doesn’t sound much like a laugh to me,” Aaron answers, but she suggests that they could go surfing afterwards.   He is doubtful whether she can do that, but she points out she may be a natural.
Jason explains his new venture to them
Jason passes, and mentions that he was thinking about a new venture to start for young people in the village;  “Activities in the open air, that type of thing.”
"Awyr Iach, Bach"
Britt thinks that is what Aaron should be doing;  “Out in the fresh air, love!”   The Welsh translation of this is ‘Awyr Iach, Bach’
"That's great – thanks, Britt!"
and Jason considers it to be an ideal title.   Aaron says that he could help, as he is free now, but his mother objects to this;
"I can help, if you want"
he points out that Jason is in need of help, but Britt insists that he can help Jason tomorrow.
"No, Wednesday is too late!"
Sara is on the phone, complaining that an order has not arrived, and insisting that Wednesday is too late.   Jaclyn brings her a cup of tea
"Can you spare me a few minutes, Sara?"
and then Jason puts his head round the door, to see if Sara is ready to have a look at his proposals, but she is too busy, and wants him to wait for another hour.
"Don't bother – I'll do it myself!"
“Do you know what?   Don’t bother – I’ll do it myself!” he grumbles,
"All we do is get on each other's nerves"
and Sara says that all they do these days is get on each other’s nerves.   It does not help being stuck in Bryntirion,
"That's how every marriage is"
but Jaclyn reminds her that is how every marriage is;  falling out and then making up.
“When was the last time you did something nice together?” she asks, “That’s the problem – why don’t you have dinner here tonight?”
"Tapas is the reason we fall out half the time"
Sara replies that Tapas is the reason they fall out half the time,
"Cook him something nice at home"
so the next suggestion is for her to cook something nice at home for him, have a laugh and forget all about work.   Sara thinks that she may do that.
Pickled eggs for Mal
In the chippy, Britt asks Aaron to get a couple of pickled eggs for Mal;
"We might be surfing later, boys!"
meanwhile a gang of Aaron’s friends gather in the doorway, and Britt shouts to them, “We might be going surfing later, if you want to come!”
"Right, that's it, Mam – I'm going!"
Aaron has had enough, and decides that he is going to see Jason;  “I don’t want to stay here, stinking of chip fat and pickled eggs!”
Aaron goes off with his friends
He leaves with his friends.
"Cod and chips, please"
Debbie comes in and asks for cod and chips;  upon hearing that Ricky might be coming home soon,
"You'll be able to keep an eye on him"
Britt comments, “At least you’ll be able to keep an eye on him,” but this causes Debbie to become angry.
"What do you mean by that?"
“Are are you suggesting that this happened because we didn’t?” she demands, “That’s how it sounded!”   Britt protests that she was only trying to be nice, but Debbie rants, “Next time, don’t!   What’s wrong with everyone in this place?”
Debbie trips, and . . .
She marches out of the shop, trips on the doorstep
. . . deposits her food on the road . . .
and her food goes flying into the road,
. . . which seems to occasion some mirth
much to the amusement of passers-by.
"Enjoying yourselves?"
Debbie loses her temper and angrily shouts at them, “Enjoying yourselves?   Everyone having fun talking about us?   You must be loving this!   But there we are – what do you expect from the Joneses?”
Sara escorts her away to Tapas
Sara is nearby, and escorts Debbie back to Tapas, while Britt clears up the mess.
Geraint is behind the bar, chatting to John Post
In the Deri, Geraint is once again acting as barman, and Gaynor is eating her lunch;  when Izzy comes in,
"Was anything said about Eifion?"
her mother is anxious to hear whether anything was said about Eifion at the Kids’ Club.   Izzy informs her that she has merely been told to take some leave;  “Eifion will be thrilled!” she says.
"You're not going away with him?"
Gaynor does not share her enthusiasm;  “You’re not going away with him?   You said Eifion was just a bit of fun – don’t rush into things.”
"It's only a holiday, Mam"
Izzy emphasises that it is a holiday, they are not getting engaged,
"I don't think I'll have anything to eat"
and decides she will not to have lunch and, but instead catch up on paperwork.
She contacts Eifion with the good news
She immediately calls Eifion, to give him the good news.
"I know it's hard, Debs"
Sara brings Debbie a glass of water, and Mark has been summoned;  he commiserates with her, knowing that it is hard,
"It's my fault!"
but she insists, “It’s my fault!”   He stresses that the only important thing now is for Ricky to get better, but that will not happen unless they work together as a team.
She is disturbed to hear it is the police
His phone sounds and he finds it is the police;  “What do you mean?” he asks, “I gave you the number, so what’s complicated about that?
"Right, thanks for nothing!"
“I’m trying to help you – right, thanks for nothing!”
He advises Debbie that the police are not going to do anything with the number;
"If I get hold of them, I'll put them in hospital!"
“If I get hold of whoever did this, I’ll put them in hospital!”   Debbie says that will not help anyone,
"Come on, let's go home"
and he just wants to go home.
This has caught Izzy's eye . . .
Izzy is sitting in the Deri, looking online at a weekend break to Venice, priced at £300;
. . . but her bank balance is insufficient
when she looks at her bank account, the balance is only £97.43.
Eifion notices her there
Eifion comes over, wanting to know what the big news is,
"How would you like to leave the village with me?"
and is asked, “How would you like to leave the village with me?”
He thinks it is rather early days for that,
"No, for a holiday"
“but then she adds, “For a holiday – I’ve got days off, and I want to go away with you!   We’ll have to wait until next month, though – I don’t get paid until then.”
"I could pay for it"
He suggests that he could pay for it, but she will not hear of this;
"My idea – I should pay"
“It was my idea, so I should pay.   We’ll just have to wait, that’s all.”
"So I can see you in a bikini!"
“Just make sure it’s somewhere hot – so I can see you in a bikini!” he laughs.
Izzy looks at her business credit card
Izzy looks, first at the laptop screen, and then at her business credit card.
"You're always saying I should do something"
Aaron comes upstairs to the chippy flat, and his mother wonders whether he is going to apologise for earlier;  “Mam, you’re always saying I should do something instead of watching telly, and that’s exactly what I’ve done,” he replies, “And Jason said he was grateful for my help today.”
"We were supposed to be spending time together"
She protests that they were supposed to spend some time together today, but he points out that it was about having fun, not working.   “Mam, you haven’t taken any notice of me during the holidays, but all of a sudden it’s as if we’re best mates or something.
"I should be going out with the boys"
“I’m a teenager, Mam – I should be going out with the boys, not hanging out with my mother.   You are getting better, right, I know you are, and I’m so proud of you.
"You're getting your life back – and I want to do the same"
“You’re slowly getting your life back, and it’s fab – but I just want the same.”
Britt fetches her purse . . .
Britt fetches her purse and takes out some money;
. . . and hands Aaron £20
she hands two £10 notes to him, telling him to go to the cinema, to the beach or anywhere – but she does not want to see him around the village.
"It's the least I can do, Aaron"
She maintains it is the least she can do,
He hugs his Mam
and he gives her a hug.
"Can I ask you a favour, Mam?"
Izzy returns home to Llwyncelyn and asks her mother for a favour;  Gaynor knows what is coming, and replies, “No!”
"It's not a lot, only £300"
Izzy points out that it is not a lot, only £300, for a weekend in Venice, which she will repay when she gets paid.
The answer is still no
The answer is still in the negative;
"It's because I want to go with Eifion!"
“Why are you being like this?” Izzy demands, “Because I want to go with Eifion?   You’ve paid for other holidays.”
"You're old enough to pay for your own holiday"
Gaynor explains that was when she was a little girl, but now she is an adult with a job and responsibilities – and she is old enough to pay for her own holiday.
Izzy flounces off
Izzy walks off in a huff.
Jaclyn in her earlier, singing, days
Jaclyn returns home to find that Gerwyn has been looking through boxes and found photographs and CDs of Jaclyn from years ago.
"Don't forget who paid the bills while you were training"
“It’s all a big joke to you, isn’t it?” she moans, “Don’t forget who paid the bills while you were training to be a mechanic.
"I always hoped that I would try again"
“I always hoped that perhaps I would try again – but as you said, that ship has sailed.
They will listen to one of her CDs
He proposes that they open a bottle of wine, get a takeaway and listen to one of her old CDs;  “How does that sound?”
Sara has been cooking
Sara has prepared dinner, and Jason arrives just on time;
"It's Chicken Parmigiani . . ."
“I left work early to prepare something special for us,” she informs him, “It’s Chicken Parmigiani –
". . . they served it in the pubs in Australia
“they served it in the pubs in Australia.”
"Shouldn't it be a bit more spicy?"
Jason begins his meal, but comments, “Shouldn’t it be a bit more spicy?   I was talking to Aaron today – he had a lot of good ideas for this venture.”
"We don't want to talk about work, do we?"
Sara would prefer not to talk about work, just for a few hours, so he wants to know what she does want to talk about.
"What we need here is Chili sauce"
“You know what we need here now, don’t you?” he goes on, “Chili sauce – don’t move, I’ll get it.
"I've thought of a name, 'Awyr Iach Bach'!"
“I’ve thought of a name for the venture – ‘Awyr Iach Bach’ – what do you think of that?”
"Oh, that's much better now!"
Then he tucks into his food, which he says is now much better;
Sara is not impressed
Sara is looking very disappointed.
Izzy appears fascinated by that credit card . . .
At home, Izzy looks again at the business credit card,
. . . and there are only a few seats left . . .
and can see from the website that there are only a few seats left,
. . . so she confirms the booking
so she confirms the booking and looks very pleased with herself.
"Pack your Speedos, Eifion!"
She immediately phones Eifion, and informs him, “Pack your Speedos – we’re going on holiday!”
Debbie is off her food
Debbie is toying with her salad;  she worries, “He’s going to be all right, isn’t he?”
"We'll sort something out, Debs"
Mark assures her that he is, but even if he is not, they will sort something out together.   She looks very anxious, but then the phone rings, and he thinks that it may be important.
"Who's calling?   Jessie?"
It is a call for Debbie, from someone called Jessie;
Mark clears away the dishes
while Mark is otherwise occupied, clearing up the dishes, Debbie terminates the call,
Debbie pretends to be speaking to Jessie
but then says, “Hiya, how are you?   Do you mind if I give you a ring tomorrow – I’m a bit busy now.”
"I wasn't in the mood"
She tells Mark that it was an old friend of Dol, who she saw last week;  “She doesn’t stop talking, and I wasn’t in the mood.”   Mark is now going to bed, and Debbie says she will be up in a minute, wanting to do some tidying up first.
She unplugs the phone line . . .
As soon as he is out of the way, she removes the telephone plug from its socket,
. . . and looks very troubled
and continues to look haunted.
