"All Anita talked about was you and the wedding"
Iolo is in the café and tells Kelly, “When I was at Y Felin, all Anita talked about was you and the wedding.”
"It looks as if the hen night is sorted, too"
Kelly appreciates that Auntie Anita  is excited about being Matron of Honour, but he goes on, “It looks as if the hen night is all sorted, too.”
"Oh, what has she done?"
Kelly sighs, “Oh, what has she done?   Organised a three course meal in a posh restaurant and taxi home by 11:00pm, probably.”   Iolo wonders what she would want,
"The works – a butler in the buff!"
and she tells him, “The works!   You know, L plates, veil, blow-up men, fancy dress!   Food, cocktails, a butler in the buff!”
Ed's phone sounds . . .
All this time Ed has been sitting nearby, and hears his phone, so looks at it and finds another message, this time inexplicably from a different number,
. . . this time, a message from a different number
advising him, “You can’t hide for ever.”
As Kelly squeals, “The hen night is my last night of freedom – anything goes!” Ed looks anxiously out of the window.   Iolo wants to know if Ed is happy with Kelly’s plan, but he of course is preoccupied and very confused.
"What kind of stag night do you want?"
“What kind of stag night do you want?” Iolo asks him,
Ed does not want a stag night
but he is quite clear he does not want one, and hurries out of the café, much to Kelly’s dismay.
"I've been looking for you all weekend!"
Outside he sees Gaynor approaching;  “I’ve been looking for you all weekend,” he snarls,
"Get a kick from sending texts, do you?"
“You get a kick from sending texts, do you?   Just tell me what you want, Gaynor!”
Gaynor does not know what he is talking about
She is at a loss to know what he is talking about, and tells him she just wants to be left alone to go to work.
"You haven't seen any sunshine all weekend"
Jaclyn and Guto come out of number 10, and she scolds him from being in his room all weekend;  he protests that he has been working on an essay.
"You should have gone to see Ricky"
His mother says he ought to have been to see Ricky, but he replies, “He won’t want to see me – he’s embarrassed – not like you after throwing Gran out!”   Jaclyn goes into the shop.
Ricky intends to have another day off work . . .
Ricky is looking at his phone when his grandmother instructs him,
. . . but his grandmother has other ideas
“Come on, Ricky, your shift starts before long – get a move on!”
"You ring Kelly – you're a better liar than me!"
He asks her to phone Kelly and say he is still ill, but she is having none of that;  pleading with her makes no difference.
"After I charmed that Tesni"
“I can’t believe you did that, after I charmed that Tesni!” she complains, but he reminds her that she is the one who made him drink vodka.   “I thought you were one of the Joneses, and you could hold your beer!” she tells him, “Well, you’ve learned your lesson there, haven’t you?   I hope the Parrys find it funny – that girl’s lovely!”
"I'm going back to bed!"
Ricky decides he is going back to bed, but is overruled by Kath;
"The only place you're going is work"
“The only place you’re going is work!   I’ll come with you to make sure you get there safe and sound.
"Come on!"
“Come on!”
Eileen is excited, because . . .
At Penrhewl, Eileen is putting up a ‘welcome home’ message
. . . Sioned is back home
as Jim brings Sioned home in a wheelchair;  she insists that she can walk.   Her mother is overjoyed to see, but Sioned tells her not to fuss.   “I’m just glad you’re home,” says Eileen;
"I'm only staying until I can go back to the flat"
Sioned points out it is only until she can go back to the shop flat.
"I just want to be left alone!"
The traumatic injury has not made Sioned any more sociable, and she still insists that she wants to be left alone.
Ricky is delivered to the café
Ricky comes into the café, supervised by his Gran:  “Ricky!” Kelly exclaims, “Feeling better?
"Nothing worse than a hangover from hell!"
“There’s nothing worse than a hangover from hell that lasts for a day, is there?”
"It was flu, Kelly"
He is adamant that it was flu, but Kelly warns him, “Any antics like that again, and you’ll be out of that door quicker than you can neck a pint of cider!
Kelly does not mince her words
“You’ve been telling a pack of lies for days!”
Ed wants a word with Kelly, so Ricky is left in charge
Ed comes in, wanting a word with Kelly, so she will take her break now, and leave the café in Ricky’s capable hands.   Kath points out that it went all right, then Jaclyn hurries in;  Kath apologises for Ricky the other night,
"Ricky, are you busy tonight?"
but Jaclyn replies, “Don’t worry – we’ve all been there,   Gerwyn threw up in a lot when we were dating.   Ricky, are you busy tonight?
"Come to us for a meal"
“You can come to us for a meal, then.”
Ricky likes the sound of this
He is quite pleased about that.
"Sorry I snapped earlier, Mam"
Jim is giving Huwi his bottle and Eileen is busy cooking;  Sioned apologises for snapping at her earlier, and Jim comments that leaving hospital is hard work.
"I'm scared of what will happen if I get sick again"
“I’m scared of what will happen if I get sick again,” Sioned frets, “And there’s no doctor or nurse here.”
Sioned is cheered by the arrival of DJ
Then DJ arrives with some flowers for Sioned, and she is very pleased to see him. Eileen invites him to stay for lunch,
"You have to stay, DJ"
and Sioned is all in favour of that.
"I'm stressed with all this planning"
Up in the café flat, Ed explains, “I’m just feeling stressed with all this planning,” but Kelly reminds him that he has not been doing any planning, like she has.   “I’m serious, Kel,” he goes on,
"You're thinking of 'the first time around'"
and she realises that if he is anything like her, he will be thinking a lot about ‘the first time around’.
“Comparing – trying to do things differently – recalling where things went wrong,” she says, “So I’m sorry for being so insensitive, but you don’t need to worry.   I’ve spoken to Iolo, and we’re meeting in the Deri to organise the perfect celebration for you.”
"Why does me having a stag night mean so much to you?"
Once more, Ed emphasises that he does not want a stag night, but she wonders when he will be honest about what is going on.   “Why does me having a stag night matter so much to you?” he demands,
"I want you to be happy, with no regrets"
and she answers that when he marries her she wants him to be happy, with no regrets.
"I don't want you to feel as if you're missing out"
“I don’t want you to feel as if you’re missing out,” she tells him,
"It doesn't matter, Kel"
and he says that it does not matter.
"Weird – that's what Dafydd said"
“Weird, because that’s what Dafydd said when he decided he didn’t want a stag night,” she continues, “Then eighteen months later, he ran away with his secretary – so I’m sorry, but I’m scared.
"I'm scared it will jinx it for us"
“I’m scared that you doing the same will jinx it for us.”
They have been wallpapering during the weekend
Jaclyn is preparing the meal by the time Gerwyn comes home,
"Someone is coming for dinner"
and she tells him to go and get changed, as someone is coming for dinner, but will not divulge who it is.
It is Ricky, with a bottle
There is a knock on the door and are they discover that it is Ricky, who has brought a bottle of wine.
"I'm surprised you can even look at alcohol!"
“I’m surprised you can even look at alcohol!” comments Gerwyn, but Jaclyn reminds him what he was like at that age, and tells Tes to get Ricky a drink.
Ed is at the Deri – very reluctantly
Kelly and Ed are at the Deri for this stag night planning meeting;  “I’m still not keen, but I don’t want you worrying, either,” Ed tells her.
Iolo assures him it will be a low-key affair
Iolo points out that it will not be wild, only a couple of lads, Cwm Delhi, followed by a pint or two in the Deri.
"There will be photos of your thingy all over the place!"
Kath is listening and warns Ed, “Watch out – there will be photos of your thingy all over the place!   If you want strippers, Iori has all the contacts.”   Kelly goes home, warning Kath that they need some peace and quiet,
Gaynor has arrived, looking pleased with herself . . .
but she comes and sits with the boys, just as Gaynor enters the pub.
Of course, Ed cannot resist keeping a close eye on her, as Iolo wants to compile a list of people to invite, and Kath starts with Mark and Ricky, who needs some drinking practice.
. . . and Ed's attention is fixed upon her
All Ed’s attention is focussed on Gaynor’s movements, and Iolo notices that he is preoccupied.
"I've had a lovely afternoon, but I have to go"
DJ thinks that it is time he left the farm, but has had a lovely afternoon;  he tells Sioned to ring if she needs anything.   Eileen suggests that he may be meeting someone,
"Is Gwyneth still on the go?"
and Jim rather inadvisedly asks, “Have you got someone new, or is Gwyneth still on the go?”
"Gwyneth?"
Sioned is astonished;  “Gwyneth?”   Eileen is going to check on Huwi, and advises Jim to come with her.
"It was the biggest mistake of my life!"
DJ explains that it was a mistake – the biggest mistake of his life.   “Have you slept with her?” Sioned demands, and by his shamefaced expression, can work out the answer.
"After everything she's done?"
“How could you – after everything she’s done?” she roars.
Conversation over the kitchen sink
At number 10, the washing-up is in progress, while Jaclyn remarks that Guto has missed Ricky’s company;
"Ricky may be a bad influence on Tes"
Gerwyn has come to the conclusion that after his antics the other night, Ricky may be a bad influence on Tesni.
She is listening to all this
She is listening to this conversation, as Jaclyn maintains that Tesni could do a lot worse.
She asks if Guto will help with the clearing up, but Tesni volunteers to do it, as the boys are talking about games.
"You didn't get all those A-level playing games"
“I don’t think you got all those ‘As’ at A-level by playing games,” her mother tells Ricky,
"Who told you that?"
and he wonders who told her that.
“Your grandmother – she also said you were offered a place at Oxford, but you were worried Oxford would be too expensive,” Jaclyn continues,
"I wish these two cared about the cost of things"
“I wish these two cared about the cost of things sometimes.”
"I know you feel upset and let down"
DJ knows she feels upset and let down, but Sioned replies that it is more than that;
"The woman who almost landed you in prison?"
“How could you turn to her, of all people?   The woman who almost landed you in prison?   She said you attacked me, she took photos and took advantage!”
"A moment of madness – like you had with Garry"
He remarks that it was a moment of madness;  “Like you had with Garry,” but she argues that there is no comparison.   “No, because Gwyneth and I were drunk – drunk and single!” he points out.    He assures her that he is not going to see her again, and she makes it clear that if he does, they cannot be friends.
"I want you to leave, DJ"
He emphasises that he is not interested in Gwyneth, but she says she is tired and he should leave.   He protests that there is a lot more he wants to explain, but she informs him, “If you’re not going to see her again, it doesn’t matter.   Good night, DJ.”
DJ takes his leave
Eileen comes in as he is leaving,
"I don't want to talk, Mam"
but Sioned does not want to talk to her and goes to bed.
Ricky and Guto are deep in conversation
Ricky and Guto are discussing computer games;
"Why did you try to set me up with Ricky?"
Tesni remarks to her father, “I don’t know why you let Mam try to set me up with Ricky,” and does not believe that it was just to give Guto some company.   She is under the impression that all Ricky is interested in is games.
"His last girlfriend was pregnant!"
“His last girlfriend was pregnant!” Tesni announces, “Everybody at school knows – her name was Courtney.”
Gerwyn flies off the handle, as he so often does
Gerwyn immediately flies into a rage and demands that Ricky leaves the house;  “Don’t go near my daughter!   Go, before I do something I regret!”
"Don't go near my daughter ever again!"
Ricky cannot understand it, but is again ordered, “Don’t go near my daughter or this house ever again!”
"Why did you do that, Dad?"
Guto wonders why he did that, and his father snarls, “Unlike you, Tesni told me about him and Courtney!”   Jaclyn scathingly remarks that they are a happy family once more.
"I really want you to come, Mam"
Kelly, on her way to have a bath, is trying to contact her mother;  “This is the third time I’ve phoned you – I really want you to come to the hen night and the wedding.   I promise you can do whatever you want and I won’t judge you.
"You can't cop off with the best man, because he's gay!"
“You can’t cop off with the best man, because he’s gay.   Just phone me back, yeah?”
"You look miserable, DJ!"
Kath urges DJ, who is sitting at the bar, to cheer up;  then she takes the tray of drinks back to the table,
Gaynor is pontificating about Pwll Bach
where Gaynor has joined them, and is in full flow about the Pwll Bach proposals.
"Jim and Eileen have no idea what's going on"
“Jim and Eileen have no idea what’s going on under their noses at Pwll Bach!” she stresses, “They’ll see there is no point reopening the shafts.”
Kath is heartily fed up with Pwll Bach and Hywel Llywelyn, and Gaynor insists that she needs a clear head to canvas the planning committee tomorrow morning;
"You'll thank me in the end, when the truth comes out!"
“You’ll thank me in the end when the truth comes out about that place!” she says as she leaves.
Ed detects that it was aimed at him . . .
Ed seems to take that as a personal threat,
. . . and also walks out
finishes his pint and leaves,
"We're trying to organise your stag night here!"
despite Iolo’s protests that they are trying to organise his stag night.   Kath demands what they are going to do with all these drinks;
They will just have to drink it all up
she and Iolo get stuck into the first of them.
Gaynor comes out of the Deri . . .
Outside the Deri, Gaynor puts on her gloves and walks up the High Street;
. . . and is followed by Ed . . .
Ed follows her out of the pub door, but stays at a discreet distance.
. . . who keeps a discreet distance . . .
She senses that someone is following her,
. . . and hides round the corner
but he quickly hides round the corner, by the chippy.
"Are you all right?"
Then she walks through the alley, and is startled by Ricky, who asks if she is all right;
"Sorry, you gave me a fright!"
“Sorry, you gave me a fright – it must have been a cat or something,” she answers.
Ricky escorts her home to Llwyncelyn
He gallantly volunteers to escort her home, for which she is very grateful.
Ed's plan is thwarted, so he returns to the café . . .
Ed realises that his plan, whatever it was, has been thwarted, and goes back to the café,
. . . where he finds an envelope bearing his name
finding inside the door an anonymous letter, consisting of letters cut out of magazines;
A chilling message in typical anonymous letter mode
it reads, “I’m still watching.”
"I had enough of the Deri"
Then Kelly comes downstairs, and he hides the letter;  “I had enough in the Deri,” he tells her, and she explains she was running a bath.
"No luck with my Mam"
She also tried to phone her mother again, without any success.   She hopes, without much conviction that she may ring back.
“Go and have your bath – you’re getting cold here!” he urges her,
"Come and scrub my back" — what an invitation!
and she invites him to come and join her, to scrub her back.
However, it appears to be the last thing on Ed's mind
He looks haunted as he stands at the foot of the stairs, wondering what he can do.
