Debbie comes into the café
Debbie comes into the café and asks Guto why there is a van outside their house, taking away furniture;  he replies, “They’re taking out Anita’s stuff – we’re staying in Cwmderi – apart from Gran – but she might stay too.”
"How long will you be staying?"
In answer to Ricky’s question, he says they will be there at least until after the A-levels.
Mark has also come in, and wants a couple of cakes to have after his shift;  “One good thing has come from that fire – a new family in the village,” he says, but Ricky comments that Siôn should not have bought a holiday home, as there are not enough homes as it is, without people like Siôn buying them up.
"He doesn't deserve for it to burn down!"
“But he doesn’t deserve for it to burn down,” his father protests.
"That's exactly what he deserved!"
Ricky emphatically states, “That’s exactly what he deserved – and anyone else who buys them!”
Mark is troubled
This troubles Mark, and he goes over to Ed,
"Do you know anything else about the fire?"
to enquire if he knows anything about what happened with the fire,
"I've got other things on my mind"
but Ed has no more information.
He has a message from Sioned . . .
Then Ed receives a text message from Sioned, asking him to come and see her, explaining that it is about Angela;
. . . about which he is not very pleased
he does not look very pleased about this.
Number 9 is undergoing a makeover
In number 9, Jaclyn is painting patches of various blues on the wall, with the current shade being Nautical Blue, which she considers to be nice, but her mother-in-law says it is too cold for her liking.
"I'm going to the salon for a manicure"
Tesni, who is supposed to be helping them, is going to the salon for a manicure.
"Is there any news about the boiler?"
Jaclyn asks if there is any news about the boiler in Brenda’s flat, but is told that councils move very slowly.   Jaclyn suggests that Ger should phone them,
"I'll speak to Irene and ask her"
but Brenda maintains she will contact Irene first, to see if there is any news.
She pretends to speak to Irene;  “It’s Brenda, oh, having trouble with your lumbago, are you?   Is there any news about the boiler?   Right – good!”
"It was mended this morning"
She reports that it has been mended this morning, and Jaclyn welcomes the fact that Gerwyn can take her back home later.   She has to call at APD for some wallpaper samples,
"I'll help you with the packing!"
and then will help with her mother-in-law’s packing.
"It will be nice for you to see Llandysul again"
“It will be nice for you to see Llandysul again,” Gerwyn says,
"I can't go, Ger!'
but his mother insists that she cannot go;  initially she will not go into details, simply saying he has to trust her.   However, he continues to question her, and she reminds him it is Valentines Day next week,
Apparently their anniversary is on Valentine's Day
a fact which he has completely forgotten.
“I’ve organised a surprise party – the entire village is coming!” Brenda improvises, “But don’t mention it to anyone!”
His mother has deceived him – again
Gullible Gerwyn thanks his mother profusely, but she has not yet finished sorting it out – and cannot do that in Llandysul.
"You have to persuade Jac to let me stay!"
“You’ll have to persuade Jac to let me stay,” she insists, and of course, as intended, he agrees.
"Our stuff is on the way"
In the salon, as Debbie carries out the manicure, she asks how the move is going, and Tesni replies that there is another van on the way, containing their stuff.
Mark comes in, wanting to talk to Debbie;
Mark asks about Ricky's movements . . .
he asks, “Do you know where Ricky was at the end of last week?” and she says he was probably with his mates.   “Was he late at all?” is the next question, “I’m just checking he’s getting enough sleep,”
. . . and Debbie wonders what that was all about
and he leaves again.
Ed visits Sioned in hospital
Ed has arrived in Sioned’s hospital room;
She thanks him for saving her life
“I wanted to thank you for saving my life,” she says, “I could have been killed!”
"I was simply in the right place at the right time"
He replies that he was simply in the right place at the right time.   She is frustrated;  “Why did Angela want to hurt me?”
"Angela always wanted what you had"
Ed thinks that it is obvious;  “She was a very jealous person, you know that – always wanted what you had.”   She remarks that included him;  “That’s how her mind worked,” he sighs.
"She's still out there – and I'm going to make her pay!"
“You talk about her as if she’s dead, but she’s still out there, Ed,” Sioned tells him, “I’m going to find her and make her pay!”
"Can't I go back to the flat?"
In the Deri, Aaron has been instructed to wait for his mother, but tells Garry he just wants to go home;
"You have to stay here – your mother's orders!"
“You have to stay here – your mother’s orders!” Garry informs him, “If you do something wrong, you have to expect to be punished,”
"I get plenty of lectures at home!"
but Aaron does not want a lecture, as he gets plenty of those at home.
"You can have it if you behave yourself"
Garry produces Aaron’s phone, telling him that he can have it if he behaves himself;
He asks Ben why he did not turn up
he immediately sends a message to Ben, asking where he was yesterday.
Mathew is about to leave for a holiday in Cyprus;  Iolo and Tyler are brought their rather parsimonious meals by Dani,
Hardly up to Wetherspoon's standards!
and Iolo demands, “Does that look like sausage, beans and chips to you?”   The portions do indeed seem to be very diminutive, and Tyler wonders if there is more on the way.
Dani is keeping an eye on them
From behind the bar, Dani is looking to gauge their reactions.
"You've suffered as much as anyone because of her!"
“You’ve suffered as much as anyone because of her,” Sioned tells Ed, but he is adamant that he does not want revenge, and is not anybody’s victim.   “But Huwi-John and Mam are,” she goes on, reaching for a glass of water, which he fetches for her, pointing out that Angela is long gone.
"I'm not scared of Angela!"
When Sioned comments that people do not just disappear, he replies, “I did,” but she says he turned up again;  she emphasises that she is not scared of Angela, and does not know why Ed is worried.
"You should forget about her"
“I just think you should forget about her,” he advises,
"No, I'm going to find her!"
but she is determined to find Angela.
"It's only one more week, Jac"
As they unpack the removals van, which includes at least one Amazon box, Gerwyn is insisting, “Mam is part of the family – and it’s only one more week.”
Jaclyn is becoming very stressed, so he reveals his mother’s plan;  “Don’t tell her I said anything, but she’s organised a party for us next week – anniversary – 15 years!”
"I intended to take you out – but Mam has organised this"
Jaclyn has been so busy she totally forgot, and he says he had intended to take her out, but her mother has organised this surprise, and has invited everyone in the village.   “But why does she have to stay?” Jaclyn demands, and he explains that not everything is arranged.   “Oh, how convenient!” she snorts.
"Even if I have to tie her to the blinkin' roof rack!"
“I’ll take her home after the party – even if I have to tie her to the blinkin’ roof rack!” he assures her.   Then Tesni approaches from the direction of the salon,
Tesni does not want to damage her nails
but cannot assist with unpacking the van, for fear of damaging her nails;  s
She attracts Mathew's attention
he sees Mathew coming out of the shop and goes to talk to him.
"We're moving in permanently"
“Are you off then?” she asks, “We’re moving in permanently.”   Gerwyn is, as usual, keeping a careful eye on her, as Mathew says he is sure that she will be happy in the village.   She tells him to enjoy himself, then he realises he has forgotten his passport, and rushes back into the shop to fetch it.
"Hi, Tesni – need a hand with anything?"
Ricky shouts to her across the road, “Do you need a hand with anything?” but she says they are all right.   Mathew emerges, now with his passport,
"Look after yourself – and your passport"
and is told to look after himself;
Ricky is envious . . .
Ricky watches, enviously,
. . . and Gerwyn is giving his full attention
and Tesni’s father is still keeping tabs on her.
"Kelly will be wondering where you are"
In the hospital, Sioned has dropped off to sleep for a few minutes, then apologises to Ed;  “You don’t have to stay – Kelly will be wondering where you are,” she says,
"She's too busy"
but he replies that she is too busy.
“We’re getting married in three weeks’ time,” he tells Sioned, and she congratulates him;  he adds,
"All that matters now is the future"
“All that matters now is the future – and for you – unless you waste your time being obsessed about Angela!   She used to get . . . does get a kick out of controlling people, playing with them.   The worst thing that can happen to her is that she gets ignored.”
"What will happen if she comes back?"
Sioned wonders what will happen if she comes back,
"I'm sure she won't!"
but Ed is sure that she will not.   “You’ve changed – you’re stronger,” she remarks, and he agrees that he has;
"Kelly's lucky to have you"
“Kelly’s lucky to have you,” she says,
"No, I'm the lucky one"
but he is quite clear that he is the lucky one, and should be going now, as he has a wedding reception to organise.   Sioned smiles and wishes him good luck.
"I want a party here on Valentine's Day"
Brenda walks into the Deri, advising Garry that she wants to hold a party there on Valentine’s Day, for Ger and Jac;  “I’ve tried Cwm Delhi and Tapas, but they’re both booked.”
"We can do a buffet for £250"
Garry is offended at being third choice, but is told there will be lots of people;  “We can do a buffet for £250,” he advises her, pointing out that they make a profit anyway on Valentine’s Day.
"It's either that – or find a fourth choice"
“It’s either that or find a fourth choice!” he explains, “And I shall need a deposit of £100.”
Brenda says that she will bring it in tomorrow, but Garry wants it today;
"Does your family know anything about the fire?"
she is on her way to the ‘Ladies’ when Mark stops her and asks, “Does your family know anything about the fire?”   She demands whether he is calling them arsonists, but he says he wondered if the police knew how it started.
“Why do you want to know?” she demands,
"You're a funny little fellow, aren't you?"
and she describes him as, “A funny little fellow!”
Mark is not impressed by this portion of chilli
Then Dani brings Mark’s chilli to the bar, and he asks where the rest of it is;
"I ordered a main, not a starter!"
he points out that he ordered a main, not a starter.
"There's too much food waste here"
Dani explains, “I’ve cut down the portions because there’s too much food waste here.”   Mark argues that if they are cutting the portions, they cannot charge full prices.   Dani continues that people only leave half of it, and Mark advises her that people will go elsewhere.   She insists, “Food waste means wasted money – people in the world are starving!”
"Dani – over there for a minute!"
Garry comments that it is not their fault, and takes her to one side;
"Customers pay for a full-size portion!"
“Customers pay for a main meal – a full-size portion!”   She argues that it does not make it right, and she will not back down over this.
"Go and wait for your mother!"
Then Aaron demands when he can go home, and is told by Garry to wait for his mother.
"We can't tell people how much they should eat!"
Garry resumes, “We can’t tell customers how much they should eat!” but she is adamant that they need to re-educate people.”
"Not now, Ed – go away!"
Ed comes to the bar, but Garry angrily snaps at him, “Not now, Ed – we’re in the middle of a private conversation – go away!”
"We'll go somewhere where the staff are more polite!"
Ed replies, “All right – I wanted to discuss having mine and Kelly’s wedding reception here, but we’ll go somewhere where the staff are more polite!”
Dani and Garry blame each other
Then Garry and Dani argue about who was responsible for that;
"No more messing about with portions, Dani!"
“No more messing about with the portions, Dani!” he snarls.
"I want a chance to taste the goods"
Brenda returns to the bar and tells Dani, “I’ve booked a buffet here next week – if I’m paying for a buffet, I want a chance to taste the goods.”
"Don't you know what a sausage roll tastes like?"
Dani wonders if she is unaware of what sausage rolls taste like.   “I don’t know what the Deri’s sausage rolls taste like – all the big hotels have taster sessions.”
"Brenda, you're a genius!"
Dani appears to have been inspired;  “Do you know what?   Brenda, you’re a genius!”   Brenda says she already knows that, but still wants the tasters, and is told to come over tomorrow.
Mark expresses his displeasure
Mark is still unsatisfied with the diminutive size of his meal.
Ricky takes cakes and comics to number 9
Ricky pays a visit to number 9, where there are piles of boxes everywhere;  he has brought some cakes from the café to welcome them.   He also went home to pick up a few old comics for Guto to borrow.   “How are you settling in?   I saw Tesni earlier,” he says, and Gerwyn calls her downstairs.
Gerwyn prefers Ricky to 'that Mathew'
In the kitchen, Gerwyn whispers to Jaclyn, “He likes Tesni – and he is much closer to her age than that Mathew.”
"Go and talk to Ricky – he's a nice lad"
Then he urges Tesni to go and talk to Ricky, commenting that he is a nice lad, and she says that they are already friends,
Tesni is more interested in the weather for Cyprus
but she is at present checking her phone for the weather in Cyprus.
When Brenda returns, Gerwyn tells her that they think she should stay for longer, until the flat has warmed up;
"Unless you want to try it out for a few nights"
“Unless you want to try it out for a few nights, and then come back here if necessary,” interrupts Jaclyn.
“No, I’ll stay here, so Ger doesn’t have to drive me back and forth,” Brenda tells her, and grabs a doughnut from the box Jaclyn is holding.
"Is there something wrong with your father?"
She informs Ricky, “I saw your father in the Deri – is there something wrong with him?”   Ricky is puzzled.
Dani and Garry are not speaking to each other
Garry removes Mark’s empty plate, and exchanges frosty glances with Dani, on his way to the kitchen;
"I think Ricky burned down Siôn's house!"
when Debbie comes in, Mark announces, “I’ve got something to tell you – I think Ricky burned down Siôn White’s house!”
"Don't be stupid, Mark"
As she laughs incredulously at him, he goes on, “He’s got very strong feelings about holiday homes.”
Debbie insists that Ricky would never do such a thing,
"Why would Brenda Parry think you're an arsonist?"
and very conveniently, at that moment he comes in and enquires of his father, “Why would Brenda Parry think you’re an arsonist?”
"Me?   You set fire to Morawel!"
Mark is astonished;  “Me?   You’re the arsonist – you set fire to Morawel!”   Ricky demands why he thinks that, and Mark reminds him, “You said people like Siôn deserve to lose their houses!”
"I'm not a terrorist, Dad!"
“That doesn’t mean I burn them down!” rages Ricky, “I’m not a terrorist, Dad!”   Mark confesses that he was worried and went a bit OTT;  “Yes, you can say that again – the Parrys think you’re either an arsonist or an idiot,” Ricky laughs.
"Yes, he's an idiot!"
Debbie confirms that, without doubt, he is an idiot.
'Ben' maintains that his Gran was ill
In answer to Aaron’s text, asking where he was yesterday, the reply says, “Sorry for yesterday – my Grandma was ill,” then asks him, “Are you out now?”
Aaron will sneak out next week
Aaron informs him, “No chance,” but he proposes to sneak out next week.
This 'Ben' is obviously not what he seems
At the other end of this conversation, we see the hands of this so-called ‘Ben’, holding the phone, alongside a glass of beer and an ashtray, containing four cigarette butts.
