The preparations for the grand unveiling
On the wall bearing the mural, opposite the Deri, Eifion is putting up the fixings for the defibrillator;  “If the thing had arrived before today, there would be no problem!” he grumbles.
Ffion's arms are aching
Ffion is having problems holding up her end of the batten, and he suggests that Rhys lend a hand, instead of just standing there like a statue.
"Is Gwyneth going to turn up today?"
“Is Gwyneth going to turn up today?” Eifion wonders.
By the looks of her . . .
She is in fact sitting inside her house, looking very apprehensive,
. . . it seems unlikely
and glancing towards the door.
"It suits you, Col!"
At the prison, Garry is waiting for the arrival of Colin;  he comments that the orange tabard suits him, but Colin is not so sure of the colour.   He thanks Garry for coming, and says that he has not had any trouble;
Colin has been given a good reception
“Everybody’s been quite welcoming, to be honest with you, and helped me settle in, because I gave a paedo a thrashing.”
"I was worried when I got your message"
Garry is glad to hear this, and admits that he was a bit worried when he received the message from Colin;
"You should be worrying about Britt!"
“You shouldn’t be worrying about me – but about Britt!” Colin insists, “I’ve tried phoning her several times, but she won’t answer.   She’s ill, Garry.”
"Don't start that nonsense again"
Garry cannot accept this fact, referring to it as ‘nonsense’, but Colin pleads, “She wouldn’t listen to me, perhaps she’ll listen to you.”   Garry reminds him that things are difficult for her as well, and anyone would struggle.
"There's more to it than that"
“I agree with you, but there’s more to it than that,” replies Colin, “And I think you know that too, deep down.
Britt arrives with her quiche
Britt has brought one of her quiches to celebrate the occasion, as preparations are made for the unveiling, and enquires as to the whereabouts of Gwyneth.
A taxi arrives . . .
Eifion is panicking, because the curtains are stuck, and will not open.  Then Ffion sees that Lisa Gwilym (FFIT Cymru presenter) has arrived;
. . . and they greet Lisa Gwilym
she apologises for being rather early,
DJ will go and find Gwyneth
and Ffion asks DJ to inform Gwyneth that Lisa is now there.   They show her where the defibrillator is located;
The curtain is still proving unco-operative
Eifion and Rhys are still struggling with the recalcitrant curtain.
"Gwyneth, I know you're in there!"
DJ knocks on the door of number 9 and shouts, “Gwyneth, I know you’re home!”   She sits in her chair and ignores him for a moment, but eventually opens the door.
"Lisa Gwilym's arrived"
“What are you doing in here?” he demands, “Lisa Gwilym’s arrived, and everyone is asking where you are.”
"I'm not coming!"
She replies that she is not coming, and that all the others are only afraid of looking like fools in front of a celeb.   “Since when do you care what other people think?” DJ asks her, “Without you, today would not be happening – you deserve the praise.”   She tells him he may think that, but no-one else does.
"How about Gwern?"
“You’re being silly – what about Gwern?   He deserves to be part of this – he made the poster, after all!” he continues;  she looks suitably contrite and agrees to fetch him now.
"He'll be glad you're there – just like me"
“He’ll be glad you’re there – just like me,” DJ comments.
Britt embarks on a long diatribe . . .
Britt is explaining to Lisa about Garry, her brother, and the father of Gwyneth’s child, being so supportive;  “Gwyneth’s done a good job of getting everyone together, but she can be testing at times, I can tell you that!   And I should know, because we were in a relationship years ago.”
. . . until Lisa is rescued by Ffion
Ffion comes to rescue Lisa from Britt’s clutches, and will go through the unveiling procedure with her.
Gwen is joining the festivities
Tyler joins Dani outside the Deri, and asks her, “How’s Princess Dani today?   From the research I’ve done with the ancestry pack, we’re related to Queen Anne.”
"Related to Prince Charles' sister?"
“What – we’re related to Prince Charles’ sister?” gasps Dani, but he points out that he did not say Princess Anne, but Queen Anne, the last of the Stuarts.
"But Iol is less happy"
“But Iol is less happy with his ancestors, as he is related to William Williams, the man who basically accused the Welsh of being useless.”   Dani is quite unmoved by this news,
"You mean Siôn is related to him, too"
but then realises that Siôn is related to him as well.
Gwern is presented to Lisa
DJ brings Gwern to meet Lisa, and hopes that his mother will be along in a moment;
DJ has something to give to Lisa
he asks for a private word with Lisa.
"She was not aware of what she was doing"
In the prison, Colin explains, “I thought Britt was going through a mid-life crisis, and that’s why she brought Neville into our lives.   But thinking about it, I don’t believe she was aware of what she was doing.”
"We both know she can be impulsive"
Garry says that his sister can be impulsive, as they both know.
"But there's no happy medium, is there?"
“But there’s no happy medium, is there?” Colin sighs, “She’s either up in the clouds, or flat out depressed.   I’m begging you, Garry, take her to the doctor.”
“You know what happened the last time I mentioned the doctor to her – I don’t want to risk upsetting her!” Garry replies, “Not with you in here.”
"On condition you don't talk to her about a doctor"
Colin asks him at least to try and persuade her to answer his calls.   “On condition that you don’t talk to her about a doctor,” Garry stipulates.
"I just want to hear her voice!"
Colin says he just wants to hear her voice, and Garry leaves.
"Where's Garry, then?"
A crowd has gathered for the grand unveiling, but Britt wants to know where Garry is, and is told that he is with Colin;  “Didn’t he say?” asks Dani, and Britt pretends that she thought it was tomorrow.
"I'm not here to support Gwyneth Jones!"
Dai arrives, but makes it quite clear he is here to support the defibrillator, not Gwyneth Jones;  “It’s a good cause, Gwyneth or not,” he says, and Dani remarks that it may save his life one day.   Then he asks how Colin is;
"Colin should get a medal!"
“I hate thinking of him in jail – he should get a medal, not be locked up in the clink!   Send him my regards, anyway.   Right, is this shindig going to start?”
"That's what she's like – erratic!"
Rhys does not think they can wait any longer, but will have to start without Gwyneth;  Dai comments, “That is what she’s like – erratic!”
But then Gwyneth does arrive . . .
However, then she does actually turn up and is introduced to Lisa Gwilym.
. . . and thanks the assembled multitude
Gwyneth thanks them all for coming today, those who took part in the race and all who gave time and money which enabled them to buy this machine.
"I just hope we never need to use it"
“I just hope we never need to use it.   Please give a welcome to Lisa Gwilym.”
"Behave yourself!"
Rhys ‘accidentally’ bumps into Ffion, and she tells him to behave himself;
"It's a pleasure to be here today"
Lisa tells the assembled crowd that it is a pleasure to be here today, and thanks Gwyneth on behalf of Cwmderi.
She speaks in glowing terms about Gwyneth
“Gwyneth has faced several serious illnesses and showed it’s possible to carry on after that.   And through her work with alternative therapies, she has offered support and comfort to others.   It is no wonder she was eager to buy this machine.    “Right, if everyone is ready, here we go!”
The machine is unveiled . . .
The curtain is slowly pulled aside, and Cwmderi’s defibrillator is unveiled,
. . . to a round of applause
to a round of applause.   As Gwyneth invites Lisa to speak to a local reporter, Lisa’s piece of paper, from which she was reading, falls to the ground,
Gwyneth picks up something Lisa dropped . . .
and Gwyneth retrieves it.
. . . and recognises the handwriting
She recognises the writing on the paper and smiles.
"You're proud of your Mam, aren't you?"
DJ says to Gwern, “You’re proud of your Mam, aren’t you?”
"The first drink in the Deri is free!"
Dani announces that the first drink in the Deri is free, and there is a buffet;
Ffion feigns reluctance . . .
Ffion, with apparent reluctance, goes into the Deri with Rhys,
. . . but someone else fancies Rhys
but he receives a text message at that moment, from Luned, asking if he is doing anything tonight.
"Have you seen Britt?"
Garry has returned from the prison, and is anxious to speak to Britt;  Dani says that she just went home, so he hurries across to the chip shop flat and presses the buzzer.
Garry unlocks the door
When there is no reply, he unlocks the door and goes upstairs.
Rather uninspiring wall decoration . . .
He finds Britt, staring vacantly at the wall, and asks if she is all right;
. . . but Britt seems to like it
“I love those colours – they make me feel safe, you know,” she replies.   He advises that he has been to see Colin, and enquires whether she wants to know how he is.
"Colin would be better if you answered his calls"
“He’s OK, but he would be better if you answered his calls,” he tells her, “Look at me, Britt!   He’s worried about you.”
Britt continues to look detached from reality . . .
As she continues staring at the wall, she assures him that she is fine.   “He is going to phone you later today – do yourself, and Colin, a favour and answer the phone.”
. . . and smiles naïvely at Garry
She smiles naïvely at him.
A photograph is taken
In the Deri, a photo is taken of Gwyneth and Lisa,
"Keep watching FFIT Cymru!"
who reminds Gwyneth to keep watching FFIT Cymru, and then leaves.
"You might as well go – the show's over!"
Dai comes over, with his plate piled high with food, and mutters in Gwyneth’s ear, “Perhaps you can deceive Lisa Gwilym, but you can’t deceive all of us!   Now that your friend Lisa’s gone, you might as well go too – the show’s over!    Nobody here is going to miss you.”
"I want to show this to Dad!"
Gwyneth tells Gwern that it is time to go home, but he wants to show his poster to Dad;  she says he can do that tomorrow.
"That's good, Gwern!"
However they meet Garry as they go out, and Gwern shows him his autograph from Lisa Gwilym.
"Good riddance to bad rubbish!"
As Gwyneth goes, Dai comments, “Good riddance to bad rubbish, as they used to say.”
Tyler asks Rhys, “How’s the new girlfriend, then?” but he replies they have only been on one date;
"I think you're perfect for each other"
Ffion says that they appeared to be getting on very well, and are perfect for each other,
"Her ears must have been burning!"
Then Rhys has a phone call, and Ffion comments that Luned’s ears must have been burning.
"Britt was a bit weird earlier"
Dani asks Garry how Britt is getting on;  “She was a bit weird earlier.”   He points out that she would be the same if he were in jail.
Colin is about to make a phone call . . .
Colin is taking his turn to make a phone call,
. . . which Britt initially ignores
but initially Britt does not answer;  at last she picks up the phone and very timidly says, “Hello.”
"I'm so glad you answered the phone"
He is overjoyed to hear her;  “I’m so glad you answered the phone – did Garry come over to see you?”
"I'm sorry I let you down, Col"
She tells him she is really sorry that she let him down, and he is anxious that she does not upset herself.
"I just want to make sure you're OK"
“Listen, Britt, I understand – really I do.   I’m not angry with you, honest, I just want to make sure you’re OK.”
"You're too good for me – I don't deserve you!"
She responds that he is too good for her, and she does not deserve him, but he says that no-one is perfect, not even him.
"I'm not sure when I'll be strong enough"
“I think about you all the time, but I’m not sure when I’ll be strong enough to come and visit you,” Britt tells him,
"Just promise you won't ignore my calls"
but he just asks that she does not ignore his calls, and she promises she will not.
"I hope you didn't leave because of Dad"
DJ goes to visit Gwyneth, hoping that she did not leave because of his father;  she lies that Gwern wanted to come home, and he maintains he just wanted to check that she was OK.
"This is one of the nicest things anyone's ever done"
“You’re the only one who cares about me in this place,” she says, as she takes out the piece of paper, “This is one of the nicest things anyone’s ever done for me!”
"You weren't supposed to see that!"
He replies that she was not supposed to see it, but she insists that makes it even more special.
"Whoa, now, Gwyneth!"
As she moves forward to kiss him, he tells her to stop;  “Whoa, now!   You’ve misunderstood – I was only trying to be kind!” he informs her,
He is in somewhat of a hurry to go
and promptly makes a hasty exit;
Gwyneth's euphoria has evaporated
she is once more downhearted.
The buzzer at Cysgod y Glyn sounds, and as might have been expected, it is Rhys;  after a brief pause, Ffion lets him in.
"Perhaps Luned is perfect for me . . ."
“As you were in such a rush, I didn’t finish what I wanted to say,” he tells her, “You’re right – perhaps Luned is perfect for me –
". . . but she's not the one I want!"
“but she’s not the one I want!”
"We've been through this, Rhys"
Ffion reminds him that they have been through this, but he insists that no-one has to find out.
"Stop thinking about other people – do what you want"
As he puts his arms around, he advises, “Stop thinking about other people, and do what you want.”
It is bound to end in tears
This time, when he kisses her, she puts up no resistance whatsoever.
