"We can still be civil to each other"
As Dylan comes out of number 10, Hywel is passing and makes a point of ignoring him;  “Business is business – we can still be civil to each other,” Dylan says, and then Hywel stumbles.
Rhys goes to his aid when he stumbles
Rhys is approaching, and runs to help him, but Hywel insists that he is all right.
"The other night was all right –until SHE turned up!"
“Do you want to meet tonight?” Rhys asks, but his father does not, commenting that the other night was all right, until Ffion turned up.   “It’s not Ffion’s fault – I want us all to be friends again,” Rhys insists, but Hywel makes it very clear that he has no desire to be friends with her, and tells his son that he has made his choice.
"I quite like the pink ones"
Eifion is looking at flowers outside the shop when Izzy sees him and points out she quite likes the pink ones;  “It was supposed to be a surprise,” he tells her,
"I enjoyed our afternoon tea"
and she says that she enjoyed their afternoon tea, as did he.   She agrees that it is nice to take things slowly, and they have plenty of time.
She wonders if he wants to come over for lunch,
"It doesn't matter about the food if the company's good!"
and he is quick to accept the invitation, saying, “It doesn’t matter about the food if the company’s good!”
He presents her with the flowers . . .
He hands her the flowers,
. . . and someone is watching them kiss
kisses her and goes into the shop to pay.
It just so happens that Colin is at the other end of the alley, and witnesses the kiss;
Izzy realises the fact, but her father walks away
when Izzy turns and realises he is looking, he simply walks away, and she looks anxious.
"These dresses are too expensive!"
Inside number 10, Tesni is looking online, but finds that prom dresses are too expensive;  her mother suggests she wear the green dress, but she protests, “It’s not long enough – and I’ve worn it twice before!”   Gerwyn wonders what all the fuss is about,
"Something else from America to make people spend money!"
remembering that they did not have proms when he was at school, and decries it as something else that has come over from America to make people spend money.
"It's OK for boys – shirt, trousers, job done!"
“It’s OK for the boys – shirt, trousers, job done – isn’t it, Guto?” she continues, “Do you know what Luned’s wearing?   You need to match.”
Guto does not know what Luned is wearing
He has no idea, and tells her to mind her own business.
"I shall have to borrow from one of the girls – again"
Tesni concludes that she will have to borrow something from one of the girls, again, and goes upstairs, muttering that it is not fair.
"We've been seeing each other – not for long"
Izzy finds her father in the Deri, and after some small talk about Britt being back in the chip shop, she gets to the point;  “Eifion and me – we’ve been seeing each other, not for long.”
"Are you sure you're doing the right thing?"
Colin asks, “Are you sure you’re doing the right thing?”   She replies that she enjoys his company,
"With his history!"
but her father goes on, “But with his history!”
Izzy did not think that her father would be like that;
"Britt 's bisexual"
“Britt’s bisexual and you don’t seem to mind that!”
"It's all the other stuff – Sioned, Angela . . ."
He maintains that he did not mean that, but rather all the other stuff – Sioned, Angela – and wonders if her mother knows.
“Izzy, there’s something you should know –
". . . and your mother!"
“your mother and Eifion had a relationship,” Colin begins, and she answers that he has already told her;  it was not a big deal, can they were not together very long.
He is adamant that she should tell her mother what is going on;  “You don’t want her to think you’re going behind her back.
"No good comes from hiding things"
“No good comes from hiding things.”   She leaves the Deri, and Colin looks concerned.
Hywel is alerted by text to look at his laptop
Hywel receives a text message, and goes to look on the laptop,
He is looking online for another woman . . .
where he finds that the website ‘Connect Direct’ with which he has registered has found him a date.   He is listed as an entrepreneur, aged 52,
. . . and Sian Williams would like to meet him
and discovers that he has a message from Sian Williams who wants to meet him.
"The old Hywel Llywelyn charisma never fails!"
He looks very pleased with himself
He suggests the Deri at seven
and replies, “The Deri Arms at seven?”
"Make sure you don't hurt Izzy!"
Eifion goes to the Deri for a bottle of Prosecco to take out, and is accosted by Colin;  “I don’t know what your intentions are, but whatever they are, make sure you don’t hurt Izzy!” he warns.
"You have nothing to worry about, Colin"
Eifion assures him he has nothing to worry about,
"You don't have a very good track record"
but Colin stresses that he does not have a very good track record.
"I would never hurt Izzy"
“I’ve learned from my mistakes,” Eifion admits, “Izzy’s a lovely girl, and I’d never hurt her – anyway, we’re going to take things slowly – neither of us want to rush into anything.”
“Glad to hear it,” Colin growls, menacingly,
"I'll be keeping my beady eye on you, good boy!"
“But I’ll be keeping my beady eye on you, good boy!   You remember that.”
This seems to have dampened his ardour
When Eifion is handed his bottle of Prosecco, he looks rather less self-confident.
"I had to come and collect this"
At Llwyncelyn, Izzy is working on cooking the meal, which includes cumin, when she is disturbed to hear her mother’s voice.   She had left a file at home, and has come to pick it up.
"I'm trying out a new recipé"
Izzy says that she is trying out a new recipe, and Gaynor hopes that some is left for her.
When invited to go shopping with her mother, Izzy says that she has plans,
"Not that bloke who let you down last week?"
and Gaynor wonders if it is any one she knows;  “Not that bloke who let you down last week?   I haven’t had much success in that area, have I?
"There are a few men I'd like to forget!"
“And there are a few men I’d like to forget!”
Guto's parents are going out shopping
Jaclyn and Gerwyn are also going shopping;  as they leave, two of Guto’s mates come round;
"That depends on whether you and Luned are . . . you know!"
“Ready for the prom, then?” asks Jake, “That depends on whether you and Luned . . . you know!   If you want a couple of ideas,
Gareth looks at the 'Naughty Vidz' website
Gareth’s found an interesting website.”
Very blurred, and with a soundtrack of groaning
As they look once more at the ‘Naughty Vidz’ website on Gareth’s phone,
Tesni condemns their misogyny
Tesni comes downstairs and snarls at them, “Grow up – all that stuff is fake, never mind misogynistic!” and Guto feels very embarrassed.
"Mam almost gave me a heart attack!"
“She almost gave me a heart attack – I wasn’t expecting her at all,” Izzy tells Eifion when he arrives at Llwyncelyn.
"Your father had a word with me, about us"
He explains, “Your father had a word with me, about us – why did you tell him?   I thought we’d agreed to keep things quiet.”
"He saw us kiss this morning"
She points out that Colin saw them kiss this morning, but Eifion says that a warning would have been nice.
She replies, “I didn’t know he was going to talk to you – and anyway, what’s the problem?   I know we weren’t going to tell everyone,
"You haven't changed your mind, have you?"
“but have you changed your mind about everything?”
"Of course I haven't"
Eifion confirms that he has not changed his mind, but did find it a shock;  “Colin was not too happy – he’s worried I’m going to hurt you, but I told him I would never do that – it’s true!   I told him we’re going to take things slowly and not rush in –
"I'm not sure I want to 'take things slowly'!"
“but I’m not sure but I want to any more – take things slowly!”
The 'taking it slowly' has been abandoned
He takes Izzy’s hand, and they disappear upstairs.
"I shall have to wear that green dress!"
Tesni is still mournfully looking at the laptop when her parents return;  “I shall have to wear the green dress,” she groans,
They think they have solved her problems . . .
but they have bought her a dress, which her mother says had to be the one.
. . . but Tesni thinks otherwise
However, when she looks at it, Tesni is of a very different opinion.   “It’s pretty – I appreciate it, Mam, but I don’t like it,” she says, apologetically;
"Is this all the thanks we get?"
Gerwyn grumbles that they have been out for hours, and this is the thanks they get,
"Look – you've upset your mother now!"
adding that now she has upset her mother.
"She doesn't like the dress – that's all!"
Guto comes to Tesni’s support;  “She doesn’t like the dress, that’s all – you don’t understand, do you?
"The pressure that's on us!"
“The pressure that’s on us – if you don’t look right at the prom, everyone judges you!”
"I hope you don't hold a grudge"
In the Deri, Dylan orders a pint, and tells Rhys, “I hope you don’t hold a grudge because of this Tapas business.”   Rhys replies that he has no problems with it,
"It's just your father, then"
so Dylan continues, “It’s just your father, then – is he one to hold grudges for a long time?”
"Mr Llywelyn?"
A stranger comes to the bar, asking for Mr Llywelyn, and is pointed towards Rhys, but when she adds the name Hywel,
"I'm his son – speak of the devil, here he is now"
he explains that it is his father, and she looks somewhat disappointed.   “Speak of the devil, here he is now,” says Rhys,
She sees the decrepit old man . . .
and Hywel staggers in, somehow managing without his two crutches.
The girl, Sian, takes one look at him,
. . . and cannot get out quickly enough
and makes a hasty exit from the pub;
"That backfired, didn't it?"
Dylan laughs, “That backfired, didn’t it?”   Hywel demands what they are looking at,
"Now you're making fun of me!"
and accuses Rhys of making fun of him, on top of everything else.
"Oh, there you are, Gaynor – let me buy you a drink!"
Then when Gaynor walks in, he tries to give the impression that he had arranged to meet her, and will buy her a drink.
Dylan is not fooled for a minute
Dylan immediately sees through this subterfuge and smiles.
"I'm sure Guto is worried about something"
As they fold the duvet cover at number 10, Jaclyn is sure that Guto is worried about something;
"You'll have to have another chat with him"
“You’ll have to have one of those chats with him again – he might be worried about ‘man things’ – the night of the prom, him and Luned.   Perhaps you should make sure he’s ready – but don’t mention cars this time!”
"Everything all right, then?"
She quickly leaves, and Gerwyn haltingly asks if everything is all right with Guto;  “Looking forward to the prom, then?
"Luned seems like a nice girl"
“Luned seems like a nice girl – are you serious about her – not that you have to be, mind you – you’re young, aren’t you?
"You've got plenty of time before you . . ."
“You’ve got plenty of time to get to know each other before you . . .
"If you want advice or anything"
“Look, erm, if you want advice or anything, I’m here for you – and if things get serious,
"I could always get, erm, condoms for you"
“I could always get, erm, condoms for you.”
"I've got some from Uncle Dyl"
Guto announces, “I’ve got some – I got them from Uncle Dyl.”
"Oh, right – Dylan!"
Gerwyn feels deflated.
"There's another man in her life again"
In the Deri, Gaynor tells Hywel that she was supposed to go out with Izzy tonight, “But there’s another man in her life again – it makes you feel old when your child is in a relationship.”
"Things are no better with Rhys, then?"
From Hywel’s expression, she can see that things are no better between him and Rhys;  “I would have trouble dealing with that, too,” she confesses, “If Izzy was in a relationship with one of my former partners.”
Hywel is confident that Izzy would have more sense;
"Ffion – of all people!"
“But Ffion, of all people!”
"You can't choose who you fall in love with"
Gaynor reminds him that you cannot choose who you fall in love with.   “I know, but principles come into it, don’t they?’ Hywel rages.
"He is his father's son, after all!"
She adds, “Rhys is young, and when your feelings take over, you don’t always behave like you should – he is his father’s son, after all!   He’s been a great support to you during this last year, after losing Sheryl.   And he fought hard to keep Esther, didn’t he?
What Gaynor says is making sense
“If it wasn’t for Rhys, perhaps you would have lost Esther for ever.”
"Yes, OK, Colin, I'll see you shortly"
This causes Hywel to think, and then Gaynor receives a phone call from Colin, who wants to speak to her;  they arrange to meet at Llwyncelyn, as Gaynor believes Izzy has gone out.
"Don't let Ffion come between you!"
As she leaves the Deri, she reminds Hywel that Rhys is the only family he has;  “Don’t let Ffion come between you!”
Tesni is now in apologetic mood
Jaclyn is ironing, and Tesni comes to apologise to her, lamenting the fact that they do not like the same sort of dresses;
"Ah – sweet!"
as they have a hug, Dylan walks in, and they explain the situation to him.
"Everyone else's dresses cost a fortune!"
“Everybody else’s dresses cost a fortune,” Tesni says.
Dylan donates generously to the cause
Once more, Dylan get out his wallet and gives her a large amount of money towards a new dress;  she is overjoyed, gives him a hug, and will order one online, for next day delivery.
"What's your game, Dylan?"
Her father is angry about this, and demands, “What’s your game, Dylan?   First you give Guto condoms, and now you’re throwing money at Tesni.   We don’t need your help!” and he marches out of the back door.
"It's important that they're safe"
Dylan points out to Jaclyn that it is important the young ones are safe.
"I still don't understand Gerwyn sometimes"
She says that she has been married to Gerwyn for twenty years, and still does not understand him sometimes.
Geraint admits defeat
Rhys has just beaten Geraint in a game of darts
"I've got an appointment tomorrow . . ."
when his father asks him, “I’ve got a doctors appointment tomorrow –
". . . could you look after Esther"
I was wondering if you could look after Esther, please.   Sorry it’s short notice.”
Rhys will help with pleasure
Rhys is only too willing to help, and will see him about four o’clock.
Izzy's activities are interrupted to turn off the oven
Izzy is unhappy about having to leave the bed to turn off the oven,
Then her mother walks in
and is extremely disturbed when her mother comes in through the back door.   “I thought you were going out,” Gaynor says,
"I've got a sore throat"
but is told that Izzy was not feeling too well, with a sore throat.
Then there is a knock at the front door, and Colin arrives,
Izzy alerts Eifion
while Izzy fires off a quick text to Eifion upstairs;  “Mam and Dad!”
Eifion is not surreptitious enough
As Gaynor gets some wine, Colin catches sight of Eifion, trying to leave the house,
"Let's drink it out in the garden, Gaynor"
and proposes that they drink the wine out in the garden;  “I’ll be with you in a moment,” he says,
"Please don't say anything to Mam!"
and Izzy begs her father not to say anything to her mother.
“It’s not fair that she doesn’t know what is going on in her own house,” Colin tells them.   After both Izzy and Eifion plead with him,
"She has to be told, before she finds out another way"
he agrees not to tell Gaynor right now, but insists, “She has to be told, before she finds out another way.”
They find the episode quite amusing
He goes out into the garden, as Izzy and Eifion burst out laughing;  “Just go, before she comes back!” Izzy urges, and gives him a kiss.
