"It's your turn to pay for lunch"
Walking along the street, Jason tells Mathew that he has to pay for lunch, but Mathew protests that the sandwiches Jason bought on Friday were past their sell-by date.
Gwen also appears to be enjoying the sunshine
Outside the Deri, in the sunshine, they see that Sioned is drinking with yet another man.
Then they go into the chip shop, where DJ is behind the counter;
"You didn't mention your new job!"
“It’s odd you didn’t  mention your new job,” Mathew comments, and DJ replies that it is nothing to boast about.
"Serving chips after managing a company"
“I’m serving chips after managing a company,” he groans;  they draw his attention to the guy with Sioned,
"That's another of those dating apps"
and he assumes it is another one from those dating apps.
"That's her fifth guy this week!"
Jason estimates that is the fifth guy this week, and DJ regrets that there is no reasoning with her.
“People are talking about her – all she does is drink and jump from one bed to the next!” says Jason, and Mathew thinks that they should have a word with her.
"I won't do any good"
 DJ does not think it will have any effect, but Mathew heads across towards her.
"Another one, or shall we go straight to town?"
“Another one, or shall we go straight into town?” Sioned asks her latest ‘date’, in English, and decides that they will have one more.   She introduces Mathew to him, then sends him into the Deri for another drink.
"He's Pete . . . I think"
She tells Mathew that she thinks his name is Pete.
"You have no idea who these guys are!"
“You think?   You have no idea who these guys are!” Mathew emphasises, “Sioned, you need to be more careful,”
"I can handle myself, Mathew!"
but she assures him that she can handle herself.   “I don’t think you can!” he insists, but she tells him to chill out, as she is just enjoying herself.
“I’m not leaving you on your own – he could be anyone!” Mathew goes on;
"You're being ridiculous – I'm going home!"
Sioned says he is being ridiculous, and is going home,
"I was getting bored with him, anyway"
maintaining that she was getting bored with him anyway.
"I didn't realise I needed your permission"
As she passes DJ and Jason, she remarks, “I didn’t realise I needed your permission to go on a date!”
Eileen is certainly proficient at making impressive cakes
At Penrhewl, Eileen is putting the finishing touches to an elaborate cake for Jim’s 50th birthday;  Eifion is very impressed, and helps himself to one of the chocolate buttons.
"There are fifty, exactly!"
She objects, explaining, “There are fifty, exactly!” but Eifion is quite sure that Jim will not count them.
"It's a shame the boys can't be here"
He recalls, “The last party I had here was Bobi’s sixth birthday – it’s a shame they can’t be here to celebrate tomorrow.”   Eileen points out that there is not much room at the moment –
"I only agreed for Izzy to stay for a week"
and that she agreed to let Izzy stay for only a week.
Eifion insists that she is doing her best to find somewhere else, but it is not easy;
There are plenty of Airbnbs"
“There are plenty of Airbnbs!” says Eileen, but is reminded that they cost a fortune.   “This situation suits you, doesn’t it?” she goes on, and he stresses that nothing would please him more than if she had her own place.
"We might get some privacy then!"
“We might get some privacy then!” he adds, as Jim walks in, and Eileen has to cover up the cake;
"Eifion's birthday, is it?"
Jim is under the impression that it is Eifion’s birthday, but she reminds him that it is his 50th tomorrow, and cannot believe that he has forgotten his birthday.
"I don't know what day it is, let alone if it's my birthday"
“I got so little sleep last night because of Huwi, I don’t know what day it is, let alone if it’s my birthday,” he says,
He cleans out the bowl of icing
as he scrapes icing out of the mixing bowl.
"We should be building bridges"
At Llwyncelyn, Gaynor is in gardening mood, but Colin has come to see her;  “I’m fed up with this business with Izzy – we, as adults, should be building bridges.”
"Izzy is supposed to be a sensible, responsible adult"
She replies that Izzy is supposed to be a sensible, responsible adult, too.
“But she is our little girl,” Colin sighs,
"We can't choose our children's partners"
“We can’t choose our children’s partners.”   She cannot believe that he thinks Eifion is the perfect partner for Izzy.   “Of course not,” he says, “But she needs to make her own decisions – we can’t control her.   Look, Gaynor, we can’t carry on like this!”
"You should be supporting me, Colin!"
Gaynor insists that she is trying to protect Izzy, and he should be supporting her.   He suggests, “Could we talk about this properly – over dinner tonight, perhaps?
"Come over to Tapas around seven"
“Come over to Tapas, around seven o’clock.”   She is not very enthusiastic, but does agree, describing it as a nice way to start the holiday.
Mathew and Jason eat their chips in the salon
Mathew and Jason, who are working on eliminating the damp in the salon, are sitting there, eating chips, and are reprimanded by Debbie, who says the place smells of fat.
"Sorry about the mess, Britt"
Britt comes in, and Debbie apologises, “Sorry about the mess – these two should be sorting out the damp!”
"Can you sort my hair out?"
Britt says that her hair needs sorting out, and as she sits down,
"These chips are horrible, Britt!"
Mathew jokes, “These chips are horrible – they’re dripping in fat, and haven’t been cooked through!”   This causes Britt some concern, but Jason confirms that they are lovely.
“Britt has come here for some peace!” Debbie tells then,
"I enjoy a bit of builders' banter"
but Britt says she enjoys a bit of builders’ banter.
Eifion is watching the Royal Welsh on the television
Eileen has prepared Huwi’s swimming things, while Eifion is watching the Royal Welsh Show on television and wishing that he could be there.
"Are you ready to come swimming with me and Huwi?"
“Are you ready to come swimming with me and Huwi?” Jim asks, “You can watch the highlights later – you know I’m not confident taking Huwi into the water by myself.”   Eifion agrees to accompany him and hold his hand.
Colin wants to speak to Izzy
Just then Colin arrives, looking for Izzy;  he is told that she is at a conference.   “Oh, so that’s why her phone is turned off –
"Gaynor has upset her, not you, Colin"
“I thought she didn’t want to talk to me,” says Colin, but is reminded by Eifion that Gaynor has upset her, not him.
"I can't let things stew like this"
“Look, we’re all upset, and I can’t let things stew like this!” Colin insists.
"It's worse if people are stubborn"
Eileen knows that a family rift can worsen if people are stubborn, and he explains that he has organised for Gaynor to meet him at Tapas at seven o’clock;
"I want you and Izzy to join us"
“I want you and Izzy to join us, so we can have a proper discussion and end this nonsense once and for all!”
Eifion is not hopeful of any improvement
Eifion will do so, but is not optimistic.
"Don't tell Izzy her mother is going to be there!"
“One more thing – don’t tell Izzy that her mother is going to be there!” warns Colin.
Sioned looks at her phone
Sioned is sitting on the sofa, looking at her phone, when DJ announces he is going to the Deri;  “To celebrate your first shift serving chips, is it?” she laughs.
"Why are you acting like this, Sioned?"
He cannot understand why she is acting like this, and points out that he and Mathew are trying to look after her – they would not be good friends if they did not try to do that.   He asks if something is wrong, as they are worried about her
"I'm fine, DJ!"
She makes it quite clear that she is fine, and as he leaves,
She rejects a call from her mother . . .
she receives a phone call from her mother, which she rejects.   Then, after some thought,
. . . then sends a text message . . .
she picks up the phone again and sends a text message;
. . . wanting some more 'stuff'
“Have you got more stuff for me?”
There is some slight apprehension . . .
She looks rather uncertain, but within a few seconds receives a reply;
. . . but within seconds the request has been answered
“No probs – a delivery within the hour,” and she appears somewhat happier.
Britt's hair looks much improved
Britt’s hair now looks much better, and the APD workers inform Debbie that the job is going slowly –
"Should be finished by the end of the week"
they hope to finish by the end of the week.   “Gwyneth won’t be happy – she thought you’d be finished by Thursday,” is her reply, “She’s got loads of Reiki appointments.”
"If she thinks that, she's off her head!"
“If she thinks that, she’s off her head!” exclaims Jason, but is warned not to say that in front of Britt.
"It's all right – don't worry"
“It’s all right – don’t worry,” Britt assures them,
"No need to treat me like I'm damaged goods"
and tells Debbie, “There’s no need to treat me like I’m damaged goods – thanks for doing my hair.”
She dial's Colin's number
Outside the salon, she rings Colin;  “Hey, I’ll be home after I’ve run out of money!”
"Where are you, Britt?   When will you be home?""
Worried, he asks where she is, and she continues the deception, “Cardiff – and it’s heaving here!”   He wants to know what she is doing there, and asks when she will be home.
"Can you cook dinner?   I'm starving!"
As she rounds the corner by the chippy, she continues, “I’m not sure, love – can you cook dinner?   I’m starving!”
Colin is all ready to drive to Cardiff to collect her . . .
Colin urges her to stay where she is, and he will come to pick her up;  “There’s no need, really!” she insists, but he is now in a full-scale panic.   He suddenly realises that her voice is coming from downstairs.
. . . when he realises she is behind hin
“I can look after myself,” she says as he sees her appear, and he admits he fell for that, hook, line and sinker.
Britt maintains that it is important to laugh,
"You're supposed to say I look nice"
and points out, “You’re supposed to say I look nice,” which he does, and is very impressed.
"Oh, I have enjoyed myself, Col!"
She is now tired, and will go to bed for a nap, but she has enjoyed herself.
"Jim even went to the deep end!"
Eifion is back from the swimming pool, and reports that Jim even went to the deep end a couple of times;
"That must have been a pantomime!"
Eileen imagines that it was quite a pantomime.   “Huwi was kicking full pelt – he won’t want his arm bands before long.”   Jim has put Huwi to bed and is instructed to make him a bottle for when he wakes.
Jim loses count of the number of scoops of powder
As he puts the scoops of powder into the bottle, he loses count of how many,
"Better get ready for the summit meeting!"
and Eifion is going to get ready for the summit meeting in Tapas.   Eileen is crossing her fingers that Gaynor and Izzy will make up.
"I don't think I ought to be there"
Eifion does not consider it a good idea that he should be there, as he is not Gaynor’s favourite person.
"Izzy can't stay here any longer"
“Izzy can’t stay here any longer – it isn’t fair on Eileen,” declares Jim, “So pull out all the stops!”
A hooded stranger is waiting in the back street
Out in the back street, an anonymous hooded figure is leaning on the wall;
"Sioned?"
Sioned emerges from the back door of the shop, and the figure,  who apparently is Jamie, asks, “Sioned?”
Money and drugs change hands
A small bag of tablets and some money are exchanged,
"Get in touch if you want some more"
and Sioned is told, “Get in touch if you want some more.”
Sioned is satisfied that no-one saw them
She looks rather uneasy about this, and checks to ensure that no-one saw them.
Who is this behind the counter at Tapas?
Colin arrives at Tapas, where Gaynor is waiting for him;
"People will start to talk!"
“I can’t remember the last time we went out for a meal together,” she says, “People will start to talk!”
Colin seems to be looking for something . . .
He appears to be looking over her shoulder for something, and asks if she finished the gardening, but she replies she only did some weeding today.
. . . namely, the arrival of Izzy and Eifion
When she turns round, she discovers what he was looking at;  Izzy and Eifion have just arrived.   “I should know you would do something stupid like this!” she snarls, but he is not going to apologise.
"Was this your idea, Mam?"
“Was this your idea?” demands Izzy, “To get Dad to do your dirty work?” but Colin informs her it was his idea, and that she should sit down.
Colin uncharacteristically raises his voice
Gaynor decides that she will leave, but Colin raises his voice, attracting the attention of the other customers;  “Stop it, you two!   I’ve spent a lot of time recently in hospital, with people who are very ill!   Life’s too short to fall out like this!”   Then he continues, at a lower volume, “Right, sit down, please, so we can talk.”   Gaynor wonders if anyone else has been invited,
"I was only following orders"
and Eifion tells Izzy that he was only following orders.
"How many chips did you eat, then?"
In the Deri, Jason is making fun of DJ;  “How many chips did you eat in work today?” and cannot believe that he did not have a single one.
"Where is everyone?"
Sioned comes in, demanding, in a loud voice, “Where is everyone?   Are you the only ones here?
"It's boring here!"
“It’s boring here!”   Mathew suspects that she is drunk, but then she goes behind the bar to try and turn up the volume of the music,
Dan escorts her out from behind the bar
but Dan the barman shepherds her out again.
Then she wants to dance with Jason
Next she wants Jason to dance with her, and he calls for help from DJ and Mathew;  she resists their efforts to take her home,
"Come on, you're going home, Sioned!"
but DJ leads her out of the pub.
"That girl needs help!"
Jason comments, “That girl needs help!” but Mathew judges that she is struggling a bit.
A far from cordial atmosphere prevails
Around the table at Tapas the atmosphere is rather strained;
"The food is very nice"
Colin remarks that the food is very nice, but Izzy says, “This is stupid – no-one talking!”
"I don't know what I am supposed to say"
Gaynor does not know what to say,
"You can start by apologising!"
so Izzy suggests, “You can start by apologising and admitting you didn’t deal with things well!   You haven’t given Eifion a chance.”
"I know from experience what Eifion' s like!"
“I know from experience what Eifion’s like,” her mother points out;
"We all have a past – but everyone can change!"
Colin stresses that they all have a past, but cannot let it colour their opinions – everyone can change.   Izzy tells Gaynor that she is not perfect.
"Give me a chance to prove I'm not a low-life"
There is a silence, and then Eifion emphasises, “I adore Izzy – give me a chance to prove I’m not the low-life you think I am.”   Colin wonders if she will give him that chance, and Izzy does not want to argue any more.
"It's obvious my opinion isn't important"
Gaynor admits, “It’s your life – it’s obvious my opinion isn’t important,” and, without much conviction, says that she is happy for Izzy;
"I'd like it if you came back home to live"
“Now that’s all sorted, I’d like it if you came back home to live.”
Eifion looks pleased with this outcome
Izzy and Eifion regard this as very good news.
Sioned cannot stand unsupported . . .
DJ has supported Sioned back to the shop flat, and she is hardly able to stand,
. . . and collapses on to the sofa
collapsing on the sofa, with DJ on top of her.
"Right, madam, I'm making you a coffee"
He says he will make her a coffee, but she has other ideas;
"You only want one thing – like every other man!"
“Take me to bed – do what you want with me!   You say you’re a friend, but you only want one thing – just like every other man!”
"You know I'm better than that, Sioned!"
DJ tells her, “You know I’m better than that – I’d do anything for you, and this is how you thank me.   Don’t you care that you’re hurting me?”
"You've just rejected me!"
“You’ve just rejected me!” she exclaims, and he realises there is no point in talking to her when she is like this.
"You wouldn't know what to do – that's why Non dumped you!"
“You wouldn’t know what to do, anyway!” she shouts, “That’s why Non dumped you!”
She gets up and informs DJ that she is going out,
"You're in no fit state to go anywhere"
but he stresses that she is in no fit state to go anywhere, and will make her a coffee.   She rages that she does not want coffee, but he replies, “It will do you good – and we need to sort things out.”
"If you don't want me, I'll find someone else!"
Sioned snarls, “You’ve just rejected me – if you don’t want me, I’ll find someone else!”
What can he do now?
DJ does not know what else he can do.
