Jake remarks that Guto does not look very happy; “Up all night, were you?” he enquires,

“I’m looking forward to hearing the details – come on, we’re all mates.”

| Tesni and Luned steer clear of the boys |
Tesni and Luned come in, and seeing the boys there, they decide to go upstairs; Luned smiles at Guto, which he finds reassuring.

| "It can't have been that bad" |
“She’s still smiling at you, so it can’t have been that bad,” Jake deduces,
 |
| Guto keeps silent |
but Guto says nothing.

| "Sara gave up on Awyr Iach too soon!" |
At Bryntirion, DJ tells Dai, “I think Sara gave up on Awyr Iach much too soon – I know I’m right!”

| "If Jason hadn't got himself into such a hole" |
His father replies that it is too late to cry over spilt milk, and maintains that if Jason had not got himself into such a hole, they would not be in this situation.
“If I don’t find something soon, I’ll have to move away,” DJ groans, but Dai is confident that something will turn up;

| Now Diane is on a red-covered novel |
he does not, however, get any backing from Diane, who is now engrossed in another of Cassandra Auburn’s books.
“DJ and I are just discussing his future,” Dai points out, “He’s worried sick – and what are you doing? Haven’t you finished that book yet?”

| "What's your problem, Dai?" |
She replies that she is now reading another one; “What’s your problem?” she demands,
 |
| "You're spending more time with René than with your family" |
and Dai explains that it is a fact that she is spending more time with René than with her family. “Perhaps you should ask yourself why,” is Diane’s reply, as she moves to the sofa to continue reading,

| Dai is handed his cup of tea |
DJ gives his father a cup of tea.

| "How many times do I have to tell you, Jase?" |
In the Deri, Sara is making it clear to Jason, “How many times do I have to tell you? I don’t want the job!” He is, however, of the opinion it would be perfect for her, reminds her how she enjoyed running the Duck and Olive in Melbourne, and how the customers loved her.

| "That was years ago!" |
“That was years ago, and the hours wouldn’t suit me with Ifan,” she stresses.
 |
| "I'll do my share, Sara" |
“Mam said that she will help us look after Ifan – and I’ll do my share,” insists Jason, “I know it isn’t easy, going to another interview.”
 |
| She doubts that she is capable of being a manager |
She reminds him that she has already had several, and argues that even if she was successful at this one, what if she does not have the capability to be a manager any more; he tells her to stop talking nonsense.

| "Dylan must think you can do the job" |
“Dylan wouldn’t even give you an interview if he didn’t think you could do the job – you’ve got nothing to lose!”
“Yes, I have – my self-respect!” she answers, but Jason maintains that Dylan would be a fool not to employ her, and she grudgingly agrees that she will go for the interview.

“But don’t blame me if I don’t get it!” she snaps.

| Siôn practises his French |
Anita has her head stuck in one of the books, while Siôn, wearing headphones, is practising his French; “Je voudrais une tasse de café, s’il vous plait,” he says, but it is completely lost on Anita. He repeats the sentence, but with the same result, so shouts, “Toute suite, monsieur!”

“Siôn – I’m trying to read here!” she grumbles,

| "I can't think of anything more boring!" |
and he explains that he is trying to practise his French, as the Tour de France is on. “I can’t think of anything more boring,” she groans, and returns to her book.

| "It would be better if you read a Welsh novel" |
He snatches it from her, and points out that it would be better if she read a Welsh novel.
 |
| "They don't write things like this in Welsh" |
“They don’t write things like this in Welsh,” she replies, but he says she would be surprised. “You don’t know what it’s about anyway,” she goes on, and he suggests that she needs to prepare for her meeting with Dylan.

| "It's simply a chat – nothing formal" |
She insists that it is not a meeting, but simply a chat – nothing formal.
 |
| He tries his French request for a a cup of coffee again |
He again says in French, “Ah, madame, je voudrais une tasse de café, s’il vous plait,” and she informs him she would like one sugar in hers, returning to reading the book.

| "If it's not too late, could I have an interview?" |
When Dylan comes into the Deri, Sara asks him, if it is not too late, could she have an interview for the job, “But only if you’re still looking for a manager for Tapas.”

| DJ expresses his disgust with this |
DJ, who is sitting at the bar, takes exception to this, and as Dylan replies that he will be seeing Anita at three, interrupts their conversation. “Hang on – it isn’t enough that you made local people redundant, but you’re going for the only job available here!”

| "It's not fair she's stealing opportunities from her staff" |
Jason tells him to calm down, but DJ refuses, continuing, “She’s just closed one business. It’s not fair that she’s stealing opportunities from her staff.”

| "I wouldn't let you down!" |
Then he turns to Dylan and asserts, “If you’re looking for the best person to run Tapas, you need to see as many people as possible – if you gave me a chance, I wouldn’t let you down!”
 |
| "Right then, four o'clock!" |
Dylan tells DJ to be at Tapas at four o’clock, and Sara at five.
 |
| "Seriously now, how did it go?" |
Guto and Jake are becoming very competitive at their computer game, then Guto is asked, “Seriously now, how did it go?” He says that it was fine,

| "You don't sound too excited" |
but Jake continues, “Is that all? You don’t sound too excited.”
 |
| Luned happens to be listening |
They are unaware that Luned is listening to them from the bottom of the stairs, as Guto demands what they want him to say.
“You know – did you make a good impression?” and Guto awkwardly replies that of course he did;

| "What about her – was she up to scratch?" |
“What about her – was she up to scratch?”
Guto inadvisedly answers, “Well, she wasn’t quite up to my standard, but she’ll learn.”

| Luned returns upstairs |
Very upset, Luned turns and goes quietly back upstairs.

| Dylan is eager to start the interview |
Anita arrives at Tapas to find Dylan already there; he is keen to start the interview,

| "That sounds rather formal" |
and she comments that he sounds rather formal.
 |
| "Why do you think there are fewer customers?" |
His first question is, “Why do you think that there are fewer customers coming here to eat?”
 |
| Anita had not noticed that there were fewer |
and she says she had not noticed that there were fewer.
He advises that his research has shown that customers are down 15%, and wonders if she has an explanation. She suggests, “People may be finding money a bit tight these days.”

| He has done an in-depth assessment |
“You don’t think I’d take on a business without completing a full assessment of the market, do you?” he asks, and goes on to point out, “The young local people to whom I have spoken, people in their 20s and 30s, think the place is old-fashioned – and sometimes unwelcoming.”
Anita cannot believe this assessment, and he emphasises that they are the type of customers he wants to attract.

Anita haughtily insists that she has never been unwelcoming to anybody, and informs him, “People can make things up these days – false news!

| "I known things haven't been easy for you lately" |
Dylan suggests that she has not given the business her full attention lately; he knows that things have not been easy for them as a family, and naturally that is what has taken her attention and energy.

“But the truth is, I can’t have a manager who can’t give 100%.”

| Then DJ arrives, slightly early |
DJ comes in and apologises for being slightly early, but Dylan advises that they are about finished, and he will be with DJ in five minutes. “What’s DJ doing here?” Anita demands,

| "DJ is the next person to be interviewed" |
and is told that he is the next candidate to be interviewed; she wears her customary ‘offended’ look.
 |
| "The estimate for your bathroom, Siôn" |
Dai visits Y Felin with his estimate for the bathroom. He asks if Siôn is on his own;

| "Has Anita been reading these Cassandra novels?" |
“Tell me, Siôn, has Anita been reading these Cassandra novels?” Siôn admits that he cannot get word out of her these days. “Diane’s exactly the same – have you had a look at them?”

| Siôn appears to be quite knowledgeable about the books |
and Siôn indicates that he has, calling them ‘quite descriptive’.
 |
| "It gives women ideas and expectations!" |
Dai insists, “It isn’t right – it gives women ideas and expectations – what’s all this with Frenchman?”

| "It's a combination of the sun and the language" |
Siôn considers that it is a combination of the sun and the language, and perhaps they have this ‘façon de vivre’, which he translates as ‘way of life’, and apologises as he is practising French.
“The Tour de France is on – that’s what I told Anita, anyway,” he says,

| "You mean 'Lycra Louts'!" |
but Dai prefers to call them ‘Lycra Louts!’
“There are other ways of creating a romantic mood,” Siôn suggests,

| "The bot where René cooks Rosemary a special meal" |
“Have you read the bit where René cooks Rosemary a special meal – then he takes her down to the beach?” Dai seems to recall that incident, as Siôn continues, “A bit of wine, a bit of haute cuisine – you’ve got nothing to lose, have you?”

| "Oui, oui, coes brwsh" – whatever that means! |
Dai is very grateful that Siôn has pointed him in this direction; “Oui, oui, coes brwsh, [which literally translates as ‘brush leg’] as they used to say,” he remarks as he leaves the house.

| DJ has strong views about the Tapas business |
DJ’s interview is in progress, and he is expounding, “I’ll tell you something about this Tapas business – it’s great if you live abroad and you don’t want much to eat – but people round here want a proper meal!”

Dylan points out to him that is not the point of Tapas, but DJ goes on, “If you want to attract customers, you have to offer classical French and Italian food –

“and I could cook that with my arm tied behind my back. I can show you!”
Dylan explains that he is looking for a manager, not a chef,

| Now Sara has arrived for her interview . . . |
and then he notices that Sara has arrived; “Thanks, DJ, I’ll be in touch,” he says.

When DJ has gone, Dylan suggests to Sara that they could have the interview in the Deri, as he could do with a change of scenery “We’ll find a quiet table.”

| "Don't want anyone to steal our business ideas!" |
Sara replies that they do not want anyone to steal their business ideas.

| The two boys have left number 10 |
Jake and Gareth are just leaving the house as Tesni and Luned come downstairs;

| "That film is coming to Carmarthen" |
Guto mentions that the film Luned wants to see is coming to Carmarthen.
 |
| "I can't believe you, Guto!" |
She looks at him and says she cannot believe him; “After what you just said to Jake about me! I heard you, Guto – I was on the stairs and I heard everything you said about last night.”

| "I didn't mean it, Luned" |
He insists that he did not mean it,
 |
| Tesni thinks she had better leave them to it |
and Tesni leaves them alone to talk; “It was horrible!” Luned says, and again Guto pleads that he did not mean it.

| "Why did you say it?" |
“So why did you say it?” she demands.
 |
| "I just wanted to shut Jake up" |
He just wanted to shut Jake up; “I was embarrassed,” he confesses, and she is angry that he put the blame on her. She really thought that he was different. “Luned, please – I know you were expecting better . . .”

| "Stop making excuses, Guto!" |
but she tells him to stop making excuses.
“I wanted last night to be special,” he begins, but she emphasises they are talking about what he said to Jake, not what happened last night.
 |
| "You didn't let me down last night – but you have now!" |
She confirms that he did not let her down last night – but he has now, and Guto begs her not to go, because he really likes her; “Just sit down, please,” he says, and she does so.

| Sara has some interesting ideas for Tapas |
The interview in the Deri is under way, with Sara suggesting a specials board, which, she emphasises, has to be local produce.

| "The cheek of the man!" |
Meanwhile, Anita is still burning with anger; “The cheek of the man – thinking that DJ could do a better job than me!”
 |
| "Do you want to go out tonight?" |
Siôn tries to change the subject, asking if she wants to go out tonight, just the two of them, but she would rather stay in;

| "I've reached an interesting bit in Cassie's book!" |
“I’ve reached an exciting bit in Cassie’s book! But I’ve got a surprise for you, too,” she goes on, “You know I’ve been reading that book, and you’ve been learning to speak French? It’s only fair that you have something exciting to read, too.”

| She has bought him a Tour de France book |
She presents him with a book about the Tour de France, as he is so enthusiastic; he thanks her, doing his best to look enthusiastic.

| DJ orders a pint at the bar |
When DJ comes to the bar and asks for a pint, Anita turns on him, calling him, “The traitor! You kept the interview very quiet!” He advises her that he only found out about the job today, and as Sara was also trying for it,

| "I thought I would give it a go" |
he thought he would give it a go.
Anita is now very troubled;

| "Is that what they're doing over there?" |
“Is that what they’re doing over there?” she wonders, and DJ is still under the impression that he has all the expertise.
“You’ve had your chance, Anita – the younger generation should have an opportunity now,” he continues,

| Anita does not like being called 'the older generation' |
and Anita walks away, furious.
 |
| "You obviously know your stuff" |
Dylan admits that it is something to think about, and admires Sara’s ambition; “You obviously know your stuff.” She has been doing some research into the market, but obviously would be more thorough if she got the job. He asks, “How do you feel about your first business failing?”
 |
| "The challenge is to know how to pick yourself up afterwards" |
She points out that many successful business people fail at some point in their career; “The challenge is to know how to pick yourself up afterwards.”

| "I'm offering you the job, Sara!" |
He can see that she has already done that, and is glad that she changed her mind about the job, because he is offering it to her, with his congratulations, and proposes that they celebrate with a bottle.

| "Jase – I've got the job!" |
He goes over to the bar, and meanwhile Sara acquaints Jason with the good news. Dylan asks for champagne,

| DJ is told the news |
and informs DJ that he was not successful, then goes across to Anita and tells her the same thing.

| "Sara will be the new manageress" |
“Sara will be the new manageress, but don’t worry, you can work your month’s notice on full pay.”
This does not go down well with Anita;

| "You sack me, then expect me to stay on?" |
she snarls, “You’ve got a cheek – you sack me and then expect me to stay on? I’m not going to work one minute longer for you –
 |
| "You can stuff your job!" |
“you can stuff your job!” Dylan walks away, apparently unconcerned about that.

| Dai has burned something in the oven |
Dai’s culinary efforts seem to be going awry, with something burning in the oven, and the smoke alarm sounding. Diane wonders what is going on,

| "I'm just making you a special meal" |
and he urges her not to panic; “The Melba Toast is a bit burned – I’m just making you a special meal – a bit of Cordon Bleu.”
 |
| "What have you done this time?" |
She immediately comes to the conclusion that something has happened; “What have you done this time?” she demands,
 |
| "I haven't done anything" |
and he denies that he has done anything. “You haven’t cooked for me for years, so what’s this?” Diane goes on.
 |
| "I'm not one of those men who can't be exciting" |
“I don’t want you to think I’m one of those men who can’t be exciting,” he says, but she wonders what he is on about; “Look, Diane, I’m a normal, simple man – I can’t compete with the men you read about in the books, but I’m willing to give it a go!”

| "Cassie's books are just fantasy!" |
Now she understands what all this is about, and laughs at him; “Cassie’s books are just fantasy – I don’t expect everyday life to be like that! There’s no harm in dreaming, though, is there? But sometimes it can put a bit of spice back into life – give you ideas.”
Diane takes his arm and urges him, “Come on, Tarzan!”

“I was just nervous – Jake showed me this website – you know – porn,” Guto admits,

and now Luned knows why he was acting so weirdly. “I just wanted it to be special,” he mumbles,

and she points out that they were only acting in those films; in any case he did not have to tell Jake everything.

| "I didn't know what I was doing" |
“I didn’t want Jake to know I didn’t know what I was doing,” confesses Guto.

| "I'm the one you should have been trying to impress" |
“I’m the one that you should have been trying to impress – not him,” she exclaims, but he remembers that she and Jake had been . . .
“Is that what all this is about?” she asks, “You don’t have to be jealous of him. If you want to make it up to me, tell him, and the others, the truth. What’s wrong? Are you scared? That’s the least you can do.”

Guto wonders if she can forgive him;

“For being an idiot?” Luned comments.

| "Are things all right?" |
Then Tesni joins them again, wanting to know if everything is all right; “You’re so lucky – I heard what you told the boys –

| "Jake was telling Heledd" |
“Jake was telling Heledd,” she says. Luned is very angry;
 |
| "Everyone will know now!" |
“Everyone will know now – it’s too late!” she rages.

| Luned rushes from the house |
She storms out of the house, despite Guto assuring her that he will tell everyone the truth.

| "Don't blame me – this is your fault, no-one else's!" |
Tesni warns her brother not to blame her; “This is your fault and nobody else’s!”
