Siôn is studying Cassie's latest book

Siôn is studying Cassandra Auburn’s latest book and making notes about it;  

He finds one part very amusing

he seems to be finding it quite amusing, but quickly hides the book when Anita comes in.   

"What's so funny, Siôn?"

She wonders why he is chuckling, and he says he was thinking about something that happened in the council chamber, when a chap was doing simultaneous translation for the first time, but maintains that she would not find it funny.

"You haven't seen my copy of Cassie's novel, have you?"

“You haven’t seen my copy of Cassie’s novel, have you?” she enquires, and of course he pleads ignorance;  “I want to take it with me to finish reading it,” she goes on, 

"I expect it will turn up"

and he is sure that it will turn up.

He resumes his perusal of the book

As soon as she leaves the house, he gets out the book and continues with what he was doing.

It is tea and doughnuts time at number 10

Jaclyn and Gerwyn are enjoying a cup of tea and a doughnut, but Guto says he is not interested in doughnuts;  as Tesni comes in, Gerwyn remarks, “Losing your first love is something most teenagers have to go through,” but Jaclyn is concerned about Guto, and points out that Gerwyn has only had one girlfriend.

"And she was stupid enough to stay with you!"

Tesni comments, “And she was stupid enough to stay with you!   “It’s up to Guto to patch things up with Luned – he needs to pull his socks up!”   

Jaclyn gives Guto an ultimatum

His mother takes a doughnut to Guto, and removes his earphones;  “You’re having doughnuts with us, or you’re going to sort things out with Luned,” she informs him, “I’m not having you sitting here feeling sorry for yourself all day.   

He is immune to the charms of a doughnut

“Listen, if you have upset her, just say sorry.”   His father suggests buying her some flowers, as that always worked with his mother.

"Too late, she's with Jake in the park . . ."

As Jaclyn continues her entreaties, Tesni thinks that it is too late;  “Luned has just put up a ‘My Story’ of her and Jake in the park together – 

". . . and she's put a heart round the photo!"

“and she’s put a heart around the photo,” she sneers.

Guto is galvanised into action

Guto demands to see what she is talking about, then rushes from the house;  

"Go after him, Tes!"

Jaclyn considers that Tesni ought to go after him.

Gwen is on duty in the café today

In the café, Gwen serves Sara with her coffee, 

Anita does her best to ignore Sara

then Anita comes in and ignores her.   Anita sits down as far away from Sara as possible, but Sara then comes to join her;  

"I don't know why you're sulking with me"

“I don’t know why you’re sulking with me – I had to try for that job – as a young family, we can’t rely on one wage – we don’t even have a home.”

"You said I'm too old to be a manager!"

“Well, you played your card very well – saying I’m too old to be a manager!” snarls Anita, but Sara points out that she concentrated on her own strengths.   

"Yr Antur has been left in a mess!"

Then Anita wants her to clear up Yr Antur, insisting it has been left in a mess, 

"I cleared everything up before I left"

but Sara contests this claim, regarding Anita as childish.

“Can you go and clear the place before APD go in to renovate it?” demands Anita, 

"Oh – you haven't heard – Rhys is going to open a gym there"

“Oh – you haven’t heard – Rhys is going to open a gym there, and I think he’ll be very successful!”

Luned and Jake in an idyllic woodland bower

Out in the park, Guto espies Luned and Jake sitting on a bench, talking;  

"If you want her back, you have to talk to her"

he sadly turns to leave, but is confronted by his sister.   “If you want her back, you have to talk to her,” Tesni tells him, but he replies that there is no point.   “There’s no way she likes Jake – the boy’s an idiot – 

"She's just using him to make you jealous"

“she’s just using him to make you jealous,” Tesni says.

Guto strides purposefully toward them . . .

This changes Guto’s mind and he walks towards them;  

. . . and Luned deliberately moves toward Jake

when Luned sees him, she moves closer to Jake.   

"What are you doing with this idiot?"

“What are you doing with this idiot?” Guto demands, “Can we please just have a chat – without him!”   

"I'm not interested, Guto"

She maintains that she is not interested, and when he begs her, she gets up to go.

Guto continues pleading, and Jake turns to taunt him, 

"She's a bit – you know – smelly!'

“I can understand why you gave her such a low score – she is a bit smelly.”

"Don't speak about Luned like that!"

Guto loses his temper, warning Jake not to speak about  Luned like that, 

Jake is pinned against a tree . . .

and pinning him against a tree;  

. . . and Tesni has to break it up

Tesni has to come and break up the altercation, insisting that Jake is not worth it.   “Did you hear what he said?   He said that you smell!” Guto rages, “I’m telling the truth, Luned!”

"If you believe Jake, you're as much of an idiot as he is!"

Tesni points out to Luned, “If you believe Jake, rather than Guto, you’re as much of an idiot as he is!”   

Luned is stunned by this outburst

Luned wears a stunned look 

Guto is led, unwillingly, away

as Tesni leads Guto away, and Jake calls him a freak.

An upmarket car arrives at the garage

Dylan’s Jaguar pulls up outside the garage, and he tells Garry that a light has appeared on the dash;  

"You gazumped my old mate, Hywel!"

Garry points out that he is not welcome, after gazumping his old mate, Hywel.   Dylan says, “Business is business – I heard that those words are tattooed on your arm – can I have it back ASAP?”   

"All right – leave it with us!"

Garry and Ger agree to do their best, 

"Jackson?   Is he one of the Jackson Brothers?"

and as Gerwyn gets into the driver’s seat, Dylan’s phone rings, showing that a Jackson is calling.   

Dylan grabs the phone, telling him to mind his own business, 

Garry suspects something dodgy – well, he does have experience of that

and Garry suspects something underhand may be going on.

Siôn begins reading from his papers . . .

In the Deri, Siôn takes drinks for himself and Brenda;  “I’ll sit here in case someone hears us,” he says, and he reads what he was writing earlier.   “I want to go back to that Airbnb by the sea.”   

. . . and Dani is shocked by what she hears

Dani is collecting glasses nearby, and hears Siôn as he continues, “Walk the harbour in the early hours, you undressing me, and me undressing you.   

"I know what we're doing isn't right – but I can't stop myself!"

“I just want to spend every second in your company!   I know what we’re doing isn’t right – but I can’t stop myself!”

Dani is seriously affronted

Dani is absolutely outraged, and when Garry comes in, she demands what is going on between Siôn and Brenda;  

"They're flirting and talking dirty!"

“They’re flirting and talking dirty!   I heard them!”   He thinks that she is talking rubbish.

Guto is home again

Guto gets home, and his mother is eager to know how it went;  

"It nearly turned into a fight!"

“It nearly turned into a fight between him and Jake,” Tesni reports, “It’s lucky I was there.”   Guto describes it as merely a scuffle, 

"I can't believe he would fight!"

and his mother cannot believe that he would fight;  she is surprised that Luned has moved on already.   

He escapes upstairs

Guto retires upstairs to his room, and Jaclyn predicts that he will not come out for hours;  “I can’t understand what happened between him and Luned,” she frets, but at that moment, there is a knock the door.

Jaclyn is not too pleased to see Luned

It is Luned, who receives a frosty welcome;  she is told that Guto is upstairs and is upset;  Tesni goes to fetch him.   Jaclyn and Luned look at each other, 

"Guto hasn't been the same since you finished"

then Jaclyn asks, “I don’t know what happen between you two, but Guto hasn’t been the same since you finished.”   

Luned says nothing

Luned does not reply.

There is an awkward silence . . .

When he comes downstairs, 

. . . until Tesni takes her mother out of the way

Tesni prompts her mother leave them alone, 

"Mam can be a bit embarrassing"

and they look at each other;  “Sorry, Mam can be a bit embarrassing,” he mutters, 

"I only went out with him because you would hate it"

and she admits that she has finished with Jake, confessing that she only went out with him because Guto would hate it.   

"To make me jealous?   Well, that worked perfectly!"

“To make me jealous?   Well, that worked perfectly!” he declares, “I’ve never started a fight with anyone before – I was shaking.”

"It was really sweet, having someone stand up for me"

Luned tells him, “It was really sweet, having somebody stand up for me like that – thanks.”

"We'll stick to the original plans"

In Tapas, Dylan is telling someone on the phone, “We’ll stick to the original plans – I can’t change my arrangements at such short notice.”   Then he is aware of Sara coming up the stairs, and ends the call.   

He maintains he has nothing to hide

She assures him that she was not listening to his call, but he says he has nothing to hide, and that was a supplier.   

"I can deal with the suppliers for you"

She volunteers to deal with suppliers, but he rather abruptly replies, “I’d prefer it if you stuck to the job you’ve got!   You know, attracting more customers.”   

"We could invite the Gin Club to meet here"

Her latest idea is inviting the Gin Club to meet at Tapas, 

"Only middle-aged women go to the Gin Club"

but he insists, “I want to make the place trendier – only middle-aged women go to the Gin Club.”   Sara maintains that in the short-term he just needs to get people through the door.

"New alarms are being put in tomorrow"

He advises that Tapas will not be open tomorrow as they have builders putting new alarms in;  she is rather put out, supposedly being the manager and having not been told about this.   “Sorry, I haven’t had time to tell you – I’ve got a lot on my plate!” he growls.

"Obviously it isn't Tapas that's on your mind!"

“And it’s obvious it isn’t Tapas that’s on your mind!” snaps Sara

Luned has told Jake where he can go

Luned has received a phone call;  “All right – do what you want – I don’t care!” she tells Jake, determined not to change her mind.   Guto expects to get a lot of hassle from him now, 

"He does not have to know – for a while, anyway"

but she says that Jake does not have to know that they are friends again – not for a while, anyway.

"I was hoping that you had forgiven me"

“Friends?” says Guto, “I was hoping perhaps you had forgiven me.”   She is unsure, although she wants to.   “Look, I'll never do anything like that again,” he assures her, 

"I'm so ashamed of myself"

“I’m so ashamed of myself.”

She warns him that one more step out of place, and she will not give him another chance.   

It appears they are reconciled . . .

He kisses her, and she remember is that there is one more thing;  

. . . on one condition

“Promise me you won’t watch any more porn – I haven’t got much more experience than you, so don’t feel under any pressure.”

There is an interruption to their 'tête-a-tête'

Their conversation is cut short by the arrival of Tesni, who asks if they are back together;  

"I should have been home an hour ago"

Luned now has to go, as she was supposed to be home an hour ago, and will text Guto later.   

"I hope you've learned you lesson"

“I hope you’ve learned your lesson,” Tesni tells him, “Just don’t do the same again, you idiot!”

Gerwyn exaggerates Dylan's car problems

At the Deri, Gerwyn is stringing Dylan along, with a story that the problem on his car is more serious than anticipated;  “I’ve had a busy day – I can finish it tomorrow,” he alleges, 

"But I need to get away tonight"

but Dylan needs to get away tonight.   

"You won't have any brake lights!"

“You can take it if you like, but you won’t have any brake lights,” Gerwyn warns him.

“Can I please have the car in an hour?” Dylan begs him, 

"Your face is a picture, Dylan!"

and Gerwyn bursts out laughing, confirming that of course it is ready, and he hands over the keys.   

Dylan cannot see the joke and walks out

Obviously, Dylan does not appreciate the joke.

"I'm all hot and bothered, Siôn!"

Brenda asks Siôn if they can have a rest;  “I’m all hot and bothered!”   

Dani is still hovering

Dani is lurking nearby, eavesdropping again, 

"Same again, please, Dani"

and is asked by Siôn for the same again, as what they are doing is thirsty work.   

"I just wanted to know how it sounded"

“You’ve done a great job with the translation,” Brenda tells him, and he points out that it is only the first chapter, but he just wanted to know how it sounded.   

"I didn't know there were so many sexy Welsh words!"

“I didn’t know there were so many sexy Welsh words,” she exclaims, and he maintains that their language is not as boring as people think.

Dani looks extremely disapproving

As Brenda says that she has learnt a lot from him, Dani brings their drinks, 

"We'd better leave it for now – Anita will soon be here"

and he considers that they ought to leave it for now, as Anita will be there shortly.

"Garry, throw them out or something!"

This is the final straw, and Dani rushes across to Garry, insisting that he must throw them out or something;  “It’s disgusting – and wrong!”   He does not seem to share her conviction.

Dylan has a mystery package

In Tapas, Dylan hides a package under the counter when Jaclyn comes in, 

"Why are you leaving so soon?"

wanting to know what he has to leave so soon.   

"That's what it's like in business"

“That’s what it’s like in business – problems arise and they need to be sorted out quickly,” he answers.   

"The place will be in good hands with us"

She assures him that the place will be in good hands in his absence with her and Sara.

He apologises to Sara for being rather sharp with her earlier, and she replies, “If you’ve changed your mind about giving me the job, just say.”   

"He's just missing Zöe!"

Jaclyn explains that he is missing Zöe, and that he is a big softie;  she assumes that he is going to be with her, and this so-called ‘business’ is just an excuse.

Jaclyn returns to the kitchen, 

"Thanks for not saying anything"

and Dylan thanks Sara for not saying anything;  “You’re a saint in your sister’s eyes,” she says, adding that his personal life is none of her business.   He makes it clear that it will not happen again, and there is no need for anyone else to know;  

"I want to be left alone to do my job"

she emphasises that she just wants to be left alone to do her job.

"The Gin Club is welcome to meet here"

“You will be – the Gin Club is welcome to meet here in the future,” he informs her, and she is glad that they have come to an understanding.   

He hides the package under his jacket

He retrieves the package from under the counter, hides it in his jacket and leaves Tapas.

"They've made me feel ill, talking like that!"

Dani is moaning to Anita, “They’ve made me feel ill, talking like that!” but Anita thinks she must have misheard.   “I know what I heard – they were flirting!” Dani insists, 

"Well, let's go and find out"

so Anita decides that they will have to be confronted.   
By this time, Garry has joined Siôn and Brenda, 

"Watch yourself with Siôn – he's very randy!"

who warns, “Watch yourself with Siôn tonight, Anita – he’s very randy!”

"You're getting a cheap thrill, aren't you?"

Garry accuses them of having a cheap thrill with this, and Anita finds her missing book;  

Anita discovers the whereabouts of her book

“I’ve been looking everywhere for this!” she squeals, but Siôn replies that he has been translating it.

"It was supposed to be a surprise"

“It was supposed to be a surprise – I know how much you enjoy the novels,” he informs her, 

"Are you having an affair or not?"

and by this time, Dani is very confused, wondering whether they are having an affair or not.   Siôn explains, “I have been reading out the Welsh version to Brenda – I didn’t want it to sound old-fashioned.”

"Perhaps Dani would like a copy!"

Garry suggests, “Perhaps, Siôn, when you’ve finished translating it, Dani would like a copy!” but she goes off in a huff.

Dylan is in his Jaguar

Dylan is sitting in his Jaguar, just outside the garage, and speaking to Jackson on the phone;  “I’m just leaving now – 

"Yes, I've got it"

“yes, I’ve got it, and I’ll see you later.”   

He carefully reverses his expensive Jaguar

He reverses into the High Street, and drives out of the village
