"I hope you're as excited about these cooking lessons as me!" |
"I didn't know they were starting today" |
"There is one small snag" |
"No, I'm much too busy, Sioned" |
“But they’re part of the business – and you said you would help,” Sioned whines. Her mother points out that a bit of notice would have been nice, and is told, “Great things never came from comfort zones, Mam!”
Eileen reluctantly agrees, on condition that DJ takes over next week, and wonders where it is to be held. She is far from happy to learn that it will take place at Penrhewl; “Where better than the heart of the business?” Sioned demands.
"But DJ takes over next week, all right?" |
The peace of breakfast-time is shattered . . . |
. . . by the arrival of Jessie |
"The extra money comes in handy" |
“Not if they have a Lego obsession!” groans Gwyneth,
and Jessie refers to them as ‘the devils bricks’, having found one in the fridge the other day; and she is sure that they walk in the night.
Gwyneth will make her a coffee, but Jessie stipulates fresh coffee if possible.
"Oh – the devil's bricks!" |
"I'll make you a coffee" |
"I haven't agreed to it yet" |
"Some of us get old very elegantly!" |
"I've eaten them" |
"Jac's going to do a gig in the Deri" |
Jaclyn points out that Garry has asked her but she has not made a decision yet. “The thought of standing there on my own – urgh!” she grimaces,
but Brenda insists that she has to do it.
Gerwyn, on the other hand, considers that Jac should do what suits her, and no-one should put pressure on her.
"You have to do it, Jac!" |
"She should do what suits her" |
Jaclyn reminds him that he has a cooking lesson this afternoon, but he protests that he does not need lessons;
“Perhaps not, but I don’t trust your mother to go on her own,” is the reply, “And I want her to start pulling her weight.”
"I don't trust her to go on her own!" |
"Why don't you want her to do this gig?" |
"It can be slightly intimidating" |
"You should be proud of her, not jealous" |
"She'll realise she can do better than me" |
"Leather trousers are too difficult to get off!" |
"You have the voice of an angel!" |
Tyler is looking at that laptop again |
"You haven't moved all morning!" |
"What am I supposed to do – handstands?" |
"You can have some peace – I've had enough!" |
His fixation with Aled has not abated |
"Gwern can have them if he wants" |
"If you've got any Power Rangers or Ninjas" |
Then Jessie's mood turns serious |
"I wouldn't know where to start" |
"Good – because it's not worth it!" |
"I know that coffee was instant!" |
"Do you really think I good enough?" |
Eileen wants to get started with the lesson, as she is a nervous wreck;
Sioned informs her that they are still waiting for one more, called Kirsty, who saw the ad on Instagram.
They decide to start without her, and Eileen announces that they are making a crumble,
while Sioned takes pictures with her phone.
"There should be one more, called Kirsty" |
"Today we're making a crumble" |
Sioned captures pictures for the Cae Glas website . . . |
“Most of the ingredients come from Penrhewl,” says Eileen,
and Brenda wants to vet the photos before they go online, to see if she approves of them.
Then the missing person arrives, and we see that it is Jessie, who is masquerading as Kirsty.
. . . and Brenda wants to vet them first |
Now she has changed her name to Kirsty |
At least, Tyler has got off the sofa |
He cannot resist contacting Aled |
Another group, on which he finds his picture |
Tyler is concerned |
"It's this knife's fault!" |
"A bad cook blames her tools" |
Brenda is more of the opinion that the reason is a bad teacher,
and Kirsty/Jessie asks Sioned not to take photos of her, as her situation is a bit complicated.
Now Eileen informs them that they need to weigh 200g of oats.
"Don't take photos of me" |
"Now we weigh 200g of oats" |
"Our Jac is going to start gigging!" |
"Great things never came from comfort zones" |
"You, Me and Self-Esteem?" |
She and Sioned have a lot in common |
Tyler adopts the pseudonym 'David Gwyn' . . . |
. . . and requests to join the group |
He waits impatiently |
"My crumble looks nothing like Gerwyn's" |
"What's going on here?" |
"It's just a cooking lesson, Jim" |
"Right, I want everybody out! Now!" |
"Jim, what's wrong with you?" |
"You must stop reacting like this, Jim!" |
"I don't have to listen to this – you can go too!" |
"Right, I'm going!" |
"Jim had a meltdown!" |
"The one I want is Garry Monk" |
Then she encourages him to tell Jaclyn,
but he protests that he has not made up his mind;
his mother informs her, “Ger is going to join you on stage when you’re gigging – as a duo!”
"I haven't made up my mind, Mam!" |
"He's going to join you on stage" |
He is at pains to emphasise that it is only an idea;
“Now that the kids have grown up, I thought it was a chance to enjoy ourselves again – you know, do something together.”
She replies, without very much conviction, that it is a lovely idea, and his mother wants him to sing something now.
"A chance to enjoy ourselves again" |
She looks rather askance at the idea |
He sings 'Sosban Fach' . . . |
. . . and Jaclyn is not exactly appreciative |
"You made a fool of Sioned and me!" |
"Are you still going on about that?" |
“How many times have I asked you to stop with these ideas?” he shouts, “I want a quiet life!”
She tells him that a holiday is what he wants, because he has not been himself for a long time; he needs to apologise, to her, to Sioned, and everyone else was there.
"You need to apologise to everyone" |
"No!" |
Sioned cannot contact Dylan |
"I don't mean that angry man who kicked us out!" |
Sioned says that she was about to text her to apologise, but instead will buy her a drink.
She explains that the man giving her hassle is Dylan; “He’s never available when I need him.”
"Dylan's never available when I need him" |
"It only lasted a week and a half" |
"Worse than that, he wore socks and sandals!" |
Gwyneth's bags of white powder |
"Slept in his dressing gown and nothing else!" |
"I wanted to apologise to you" |
Geraint has not seen Brenda's allegedly lost purse |
"He got some stick from a few pupils" |
"He'll be all right, Guto – thanks for checking" |
"That boy, off his head on drugs" |
"That was a stupid thing to do, Sioned!" |
Sioned is becoming worried |
"Your Mam's a lovely woman – you don't want to lose her . . ." |
". . . like your brother, father and your sister, Angela!" |
"I won't say a word" |
"I thought I could stay with you for a while" |
"I had a flight for next week in mind" |
"That's great, thank you!" |
At last the word 'ACCEPTED' appears on the screen |
The various captions allude to him . . . |
. . . and his alleged preference for sixth form boys |
"Look, I'm sorry, Ty" |
Then Iolo comes into the house, wanting to apologise, but Tyler, in tears, closes the laptop and walks into the kitchen.
Iolo asks if he is all right, and Tyler replies, “No!”
Iolo hugs him, and assures him that everything will be all right; Tyler, of course, knows this is far from being the case.
"Are you all right?" |
"Everything will be all right" |
