The headteacher is waiting for Tyler
Tyler breezes nonchalantly into the headteacher’s office;  “You wanted to see me?” he says, and Gaynor tells him to sit down.
"We have received information . . ."
She notifies him that they have received information that he is possibly having a relationship with a pupil.
"Who told you that?"
Tyler demands who told her that, but she explains that she cannot discuss it until they have held an investigation.
He points so that it is not true, and that she has to believe him;
"I've never had a relationship with a pupil!"
“I’ve never had a relationship with a pupil!”   Gaynor promises that he will get a chance to give his side, but there are protocols to be followed;  she has no choice but to temporarily suspend him.
"Will you leave the building immediately?"
“Sorry, but will you clear your desk and leave the building immediately?” she continues.   He is absolutely distraught as he leaves the office.
Huwi appears quite placid . . .
Jim and baby Huwi are at number 10, being entertained by Brenda;
. . . as his father pours the Earl Grey
he pours out a cup of Earl Grey tea,
"Your Dadi is posh, isn't he?"
and Brenda tells Huwi, “Your Dadi is posh, isn’t he – bringing Auntie Brenda some Earl Grey tea?”   She goes on that this is like underage drinking;
"Life's too short not to eat doughnuts!"
“Stuffing ourselves with sugar on the sly!   Life’s too short not to eat doughnuts.”
Huwi wonders what on earth is wrong with Dadi
Suddenly, for no apparent reason, Jim starts sobbing uncontrollably, and both Brenda and the baby wonder what is the matter.
"I've phoned the Union"
At school, Tyler returns to Gaynor’s office to advise that he has phoned the Union, and will be meeting a rep tomorrow.   “I know you said you can’t talk . . .
"Is Aled Richards behind this nonsense?"
“but is Aled Richards behind this nonsense?”   She repeats that she cannot discuss it, and he should know better than to ask.   She suggests that it is time he left, and he admits, “This isn’t the start of term I was hoping for.”
"You'll receive an e-mail by the end of the day"
Gaynor will send him an e-mail by the end of the day, officially confirming the suspension.
Tyler has to leave the school
He walks despondently along the corridor.
Eileen cleans the kitchen floor
At Penrhewl, Eileen is mopping the kitchen floor, and warns Sioned, when she comes in, that it is wet.   “I’ve come over to discuss Cae Glas produce with you –
"I'm going to throw myself into the business"
“from now on, I’m going to throw myself into the business,” insists Sioned.   Eileen is very pleased to hear it.   She continues, “I’ve got a few ideas – I think we should open a café  here and sell our goods direct.   And do you know what else we should do?
"Have an exotic animal in one of the fields"
“Have an exotic animal in one of the fields, to attract children to the farm.”
Eileen wonders what has brought on this big change, and Sioned replies that it is time she grew up;
"What did you have in mind?"
“What kind of exotic animal did you have in mind,” Eileen asks,
"I've been doing research into Llamas"
and is told that Sioned has been doing some research into Llamas, which are quite easy to keep, and they could get money for the wool.
"That little head has been busy!"
“That little head has been busy!” Eileen exclaims, and Sioned thinks there is a ‘but’ coming;  her mother insists that there is not, and that she is very proud of her daughter.
"Sorry – I don't know what came over me!"
By now, Jim has composed himself and apologises for his outburst;  “I don’t know what came over me,” he confesses.
"Something must be worrying you"
Brenda thinks that something must be worrying him, but he does not think so,
"I have no idea why I cried!"
and is at a loss to know why he cried.
“You know what you said last week about you snapping and feeling lost sometimes – do you think it’s more than that?” Brenda enquires,
"Do you think you're suffering from depression?"
“Do you think you’re suffering from depression?   There’s no need to feel ashamed,”
"I'm not suffering from anything"
but Jim is adamant he is not suffering from anything.
“I know the symptoms of depression better than you think – I had a nasty attack of the blues when I lost Ned,” recalls Brenda, “I was exactly the same, feeling impatient with life – crying about the smallest things.”
"It's been three years since I lost Courtney"
Jim answers that it has been three years since he lost Courtney, but Brenda suggests, “Sometimes it takes time for these things to hit us.
"Would it help to have a little chat with the doctor?"
“Do you think it would help, if you had a little chat with the doctor?”   He is concerned that she thinks he is ill, but she points out that it might help.
Eifion looks pleased that Mathew has twisted his ankle
In the café, Eifion reports to Izzy that Mathew has twisted his ankle and is off work;  he looks rather amused by this news,
"Auntie Nel isn't giving him much peace, is she?"
and comments, “Auntie Nel isn’t giving him much peace, is she?”
“Did he tell you yesterday that his shoes turned red?” Izzy asks,
"Someone's playing tricks on him"
“Seriously, someone is playing tricks on Mathew, aren’t they?” but Eifion does not think so, wondering who would go to such trouble.   Izzy thinks that it might be DJ or possibly Tesni.
"Or perhaps the curse actually exists"
“Or perhaps the curse actually exists – have you considered that?” Eifion enquires,
"A lot of people said Auntie Nel was a witch"
“A lot of people said Auntie Nel was a witch.”   Then he thinks that he ought to call in and see his cousin, but is in a hurry to get to the market,
"I'll go and take him some lunch"
so Izzy volunteers to go and take Mathew some lunch.
She discovers he has dropped that beermat
When Eifion leaves, she sees that he has dropped something, and is concerned to find that it is the beer mat with the telephone number of the barman who fancied Mathew;  she looks disturbed.
"A boy in the sixth from has a crush on me"
Tyler has gone to see his sister, Dani, and she asks if he has any idea would do such a thing.   He replies that he has an idea;  “A boy in the sixth form has a crush on me, so I assume it’s him.”
"Children have always had crushes on teachers"
Dani insists that school children have always had crushes on teachers, and presumes that he has told Iolo about it;  “Don’t you think you should talk to him?
"Once this boy admits that it's all lies . . ."
“Once this boy admits that it’s all lies, everything will be fine.”   When Tyler does not reply, she looks at him,
"It's not all lies!"
and he ruefully admits, “It’s not all lies – things went overboard at the party.”
"Exactly how 'overboard'?"
Dani demands exactly how ‘overboard’,
"We kissed, but it was a mistake"
and is told that they kissed, but it was a mistake.   Under questioning, he admits that Aled is 17,
"Well, that's something, I suppose"
which Dani regards as something, at least.
Mathew has spilled his coffee
Izzy creeps into the shop flat with a coffee for Mathew and finds him sleeping in the chair;  she wakes him and he spills the cup of coffee he already had.   “Don’t worry, I’ve got another coffee for you, and a pasty,” she says.
"You-know-who was responsible!"
He groans, “It wasn’t an accident – you-know-who was responsible!” as he gets a cloth to mop up the coffee,
"The curse exists, Izzy!"
“I know nobody believes me about Auntie Nel, but the curse exists!   Are you two looking forward to your weekend in Venice?”
"This fell out of Eifion's pocket"
She replies that she was, but is not sure any more;  “This fell out of Eifion’s pocket!”
"Lyn was the barman who was flirting with me"
Mathew wonders why Eifion held on to it, and realises that Lyn was the barman who was flirting with him last week;  “I asked Eifion to give this back to him.”
"I'm sure there's a sensible explanation"
He then reassures Izzy that Eifion thinks the world of her, and is sure there is a sensible explanation, but Izzy has her doubts.
"I don't know what Aled's said to Gaynor"
“I don’t know what Aled’s said to Gaynor – he said he realised the kiss was a mistake,” Tyler tells Dani,
"He's probably upset you didn't want more"

and she imagineshe is upset that Tyler does not want anything more.   “But I’ve supported him so much!” he protests,
"You should see the bruises on his ribs"
“His father’s nasty to him – you should see the bruises on his ribs.   His father’s been hitting him.”
"How have you seen his ribs?"
Dani is outraged;  “How have you seen his ribs?” and when Tyler admits that he came to the house,
"Does Iolo know anything?"
she exclaims, “Does Iolo know anything?”   She is told that he only knows that Aled had a crush on him, but thinks he pushed him away twice, and has been supporting him.
"I can't live with all these lies!"
Tyler does not know if he can live with all these lies.
Dani reminds him about the school and the police;
"Stick to your story, and don't mention any kiss, OK?"
she instructs him, “You could lose your job, Tyler, and go to jail!   Is that what you want?   Stick to your story, and don’t mention any kiss, OK?”
"But what if it comes out?"
“But what if it comes out, and Iolo finds out?” he pleads,
"He definitely has not been in the house!"
but Dani is adamant that he insists he pushed Aled away every time – and he definitely has not been in the house.
Sioned promotes her Llamas idea
Sioned is showing her mother a website about Llamas,
"I didn't know they came from Peru"
and Eileen did not know that they came from Peru;  “The same place as Paddington Bear,” confirms Sioned.   Then they hear Jim and Huwi returning, and wonder why they have been so long.
"He's more like a bear with a sore head!"
“Why do you ask?” Jim snarls, and Sioned describes him as more like a bear with a sore head than Paddington.   “We went for a walk up the Wenallt for some fresh air, that’s all!”
"Buying Llamas?   It's a bit late for an April Fool trick!"
Then he sees the website;  “We’re buying Llamas now, are we?   It’s a bit late for an April Fool trick –
"This is a farm, not a circus!"
I’ve never heard of anything so stupid!   This is a farm, not a circus!”
"What is wrong with you today?"
Sioned wonders what is wrong with him today and is about to walk out.
"Throwing a strop, are you?"
“Throwing a strop, are you, because you’re not getting your own way?” Jim rages,
"Why do you have to be so nasty, Jim?"
and Eileen demands why he has to be so nasty.   “It’s a ridiculous idea!” he growls.
Izzy wants an explanation from Eifion
Izzy finds Eifion at the Deri, and puts down the beer mat in front of him;  “It fell on the floor in the café,” she says, “Are you going to tell me why you have that barman’s number?”
"I didn't know I still had it"
Eifion alleges that he did not know he still had it,
"Have you phoned the number, then?"
but Izzy wants to know if he has phoned the number, and if not, why he has kept it.   “I forgot I had it –
"Please don't make a meal of it"
“please don’t make a meal of it.   Mathew told me to give it to the barman, but he wasn’t at the bar.”
Izzy enquires why he did not put it in the bin,
He symbolically rips up the beermat
so he makes a show of ripping it up in front of her, and hopes that she is happy now.
"I hope you haven't got marking to do"
Tyler comes home, and Iolo hopes that he does not have marking to do on the first day back;  “Look, the truth is, I don’t think I’ll have marking to do for a while.
"I've been suspended from school"
“I’ve been suspended from school – accused of having a relationship with a pupil.”
"Aled's behind this, isn't he?"
Iolo is very shocked, and concludes that Aled is behind this;
"You told me to stay away"
“You were right – you told me to stay away – I’ve been so naïve,” groans Tyler.
Iolo wants to know why he has been suspended, as he is the innocent one here;
"She should support her staff!"
“She should support her staff – it’s not good enough!   I’m going over there to tell her!”
"It will only make things worse, Iol!"
Tyler stops him from doing that, as it will only make things worse, and says that it is enough that Iolo is supporting him,
Iolo gives him a hug
so Iolo gives him a hug.
Jim is now in an apologetic mood
When Jim comes in again, Eileen is folding the washing, and he says that he is sorry;  “You were right – I should have been more considerate of Sioned’s feelings.”   Eileen says that Sioned was trying her best today.
"I've tended to overreact lately"
“The thing is, I’ve tended to overreact lately,” Jim admits,
"You can say that again!"
with which Eileen agrees wholeheartedly;
"I didn't know there was a café up the Wenallt now"
she comments that she did not know there was a café up the Wenallt now, drawing attention to the jam on his shirt.
"We stopped for a cup of tea and a cake with Brenda"
He confesses that they stopped for a cup of tea and a cake with Brenda on the way,
"You're supposed to be on a diet, Jim"
and Eileen reminds him that he is supposed to be on a diet.   “One cake won’t make a lot of difference,” he protests,
"She knows you're not to eat sweet things"
but she goes on that Brenda knows he is not to eat sweet things, and can see why he is such a fan of hers.
"She's been a good friend to me lately"
“Brenda has been a good friend to me lately,” he begins, “The thing is, I haven’t been feeling myself – I feel low all the time.
"She thinks I might have depression"
“She thinks I might have depression – she knows the symptoms.   She thinks that perhaps Angela’s death has opened old wounds for me in relation to Courtney.”
"Why didn't you talk to me about it?"
Eileen asks why he did not talk to her about it, and he replies that she has a lot on her plate;
"Sometimes it's easier to talk to people who don't know you very well"
“And sometimes it’s easier to talk to people who don’t know you well.   I think I need help, so I can learn better ways of coping with losing Courtney.”
"The things some people will do for a free pint!"
In the Deri, Mathew comes hobbling in, and Eifion remarks, “The things some people will do for a free pint!”   He is hoping that the alcohol will act as an anaesthetic,
"Look, it's even more swollen now"
and shows Izzy that his ankle is now even more swollen.
Izzy says they are celebrating resolving her paranoia and starting the holiday early;
Eifion is tampering with one of the lagers
she goes to the bar to get another glass, so that Mathew can have some Prosecco, and catches Eifion adding salt to one of the glasses of lager.
"So you're the one who's been winding Mathew up!"
He tells her that it is just a bit of fun, and she realises he is the one who has been winding Mathew up about Auntie Nel.
"Cheers!"
Back at the table, Eifion hands Mathew the doctored glass, and Dani can be seen, keeping a critical eye on them.
"This is disgusting!"
After one sip, Mathew declares, “This is disgusting!” but Eifion finds that his tastes normal.
"This lager's off, Dani!"
Mathew complains to Dani that the lager is ‘off’, but she assures him that both glasses were exactly the same.
When Eifion tries Mathew’s lager, he maintains that it tastes fine to him,
"Perhaps Auntie Nel's cursed your tastebuds too!"
and suggests, “Perhaps Auntie Nel has cursed your taste buds, too!”
"I'm going home!"
Mathew declares that he is not safe, even in the Deri, and hurries home, as fast as his ankle will allow.
They seem to be enjoying Mathew's discomfiture
Eifion and Izzy seem very amused, but Dani does not.
"What are we going to tell people?"
Iolo asks, “What are we going to tell people?” but is told they are not allowed to discuss it,
"With a bit of luck, Aled will admit it's all lies"
and he does not know how long it is likely to go on.   “With a bit of luck, Aled will admit that it is all lies,” Iolo says, optimistically, but Tyler is not so sure.
"This says they've received evidence!"
Tyler is looking at the e-mail from the school;  “This says I’ve been suspended because they have received evidence!”   He cannot imagine what that evidence could be,
"This is getting worse and worse!"
and shouts, “This is getting worse and worse!   Why would Aled do this to me?”
"We'll deal with this together, Ty!"
Iolo urges him not to get worked up;  “Whatever lies or evidence this Aled has – we’ll deal with it together!”
