Aaron reads the Western Post . . .
Aaron is reading the Western Post, where the front page headline is about the missing girl;
. . . where there has been no more news about Jamie
Colin asks if there is any more news about her, but apparently there is not.   “The police are appealing for information,” says Aaron,
"I've got to go to school"
and he leaves for school.
"I must hurry or I'll miss the bus"
Britt must go or she will miss the bus,
Colin works out what they need from the Cash and Carry
and Colin is thinking about what they need from the Cash and Carry;
Oh, no – he is phoning 'Melissa' again!
as soon as she has gone, he phones ‘Melissa’ once again.   “It’s me here again – Colin – would it be possible for me to pop over to see you some time today?
"Yes, midday would be great!"
“Yes, midday would be great!”
Anita does not want to share resources with Eifion
In the café, Anita and Megan are talking to Eifion and Izzy;  “It would make sense to share resources,” Eifion suggests, but Anita does not think it is a very good idea.   Then she and Megan have to go and catch the bus.
"She's only jealous of your ideas!"
Izzy tells him not to worry, because Anita is only jealous of his ideas;
"Good morning, respectable electotal candidate!"
Mathew comes and says, sarcastically, “Good morning, respectable electoral candidate!” pointing out that he is wearing the same shirt as yesterday;
"Dirty stop-out, eh?"
“Where did you stay last night – Llwyncelyn?   Dirty stop-out, eh?”
Izzy confirms that he did, but then wants to know where Eifion really was last night;  he replies that he went to Swansea.   “On your own?” she enquires further, and he admits that, to start with, he was.
Eifion resents all Izzy's questions
“What is this?   I feel like I’m being interrogated!” he protests, and she assumes that he met someone.   He insists that he did not intend anything to happen, and reminds her, “An open relationship – that’s what we agreed, wasn’t it?”
She answers that he said he did not want to see anyone, but he stresses he is not ‘seeing anyone’;
"How about I take you out tomorrow night?"
“The whole thing felt forced, to be honest.”   She pretends that she does not mind, and he proposes taking her out somewhere tomorrow night.
"I've got a meeting of Antur Iaith, sorry"
She lies that there is a meeting of Antur Iaith, which will prevent her from so doing, and thinks that she ought to leave.
Cassie arrives at the hospital . . .
Cassie arrives at the hospital for her appointment
. . . and peers nervously into the breast clinic
and stands outside the Breast Clinic, looking rather apprehensive;  she hears people approaching,
A deputation appears along the corridor
and finds that it is a deputation of seven supporters from Cwmderi.
Cassie is dumbfounded, and Diane tells her that they could not let her do this on her own.
"I'm not doing a bungee jump!"
Cassie growls, “This is a biopsy – not a bungee jump!”
She is given a pink brooch
and Diane affixes a pink brooch to her coat.   They will wait outside until she returns.
Izzy is not in a good humour
Izzy returns to Llwyncelyn in a furious mood;
She consults her phone . . .
after some thought, she takes her phone
. . . and goes to the Tinder app
and searches for nearby friends on Tinder.
"What if they have to keep her in for some reason?"
The seven well-wishers wait in the corridor, and Anita wonders, “What if they have to keep her in for some reason?”   Diane has been reading some literature, which says that 80% of lumps are benign, but Gwyneth points out that means 20% are not.
Then Cassie comes out again
As they are deliberating, Cassie comes out again, feeling a bit sore and rather lightheaded, but fine, apart from that.
Dani will give her a lift home . . .
Dani will give her a lift home,
. . . and she is given Bloom Strawberry Gin Liqueur
and Diane produces a bottle of Bloom Strawberry Gin Liqueur from her bag;  “When you’re feeling better, we’ll all come over and help you drink this!” she says.
Colin visits the brothel yet again
Colin arrives at ‘Melissa’s’ premises, apologising for the misunderstanding yesterday.
Who would pay a prostitute £50 to say he is not using her any more?
She says she is still going to have to charge him, and he, despite his penurious state, hands over another £50.   She comments that his partner seems nice, and he agrees wholeheartedly.
"We should bring the arrangement to an end"
“That’s why I think we should bring this . . . arrangement to an end, after today,” he informs ‘Melissa’;  “You’ve been a great help to me,
"I should put more time into my relationship with Britt"
“but I feel I should put more time into my relationship with Britt.   Do you understand?”   She nods her head, but will obviously miss the easy money.
"We went out together yesterday"
He sits down and continues, “For the first time in ages we went out together yesterday – and we enjoyed ourselves.”   It is suggested that perhaps he should do that more often.
"It reminded me of how things used to be"
“It reminded me of how things used to be between us,” he recalls.
'Melissa' hopes that things work out for them
‘Melissa’ hopes that things work out between them, and then suddenly there is the sound of a siren, followed by a loud knocking at the door, and the shout of, “Police!”
At the sound of the word 'Police', she grabs her things . . .

‘Melissa’ quickly gathers up her belongings,

. . . and makes a very rapid exit
and very hastily escapes from the room, leaving Colin very confused;
Colin notices a police presence outside . . .
he picks up his jacket and looks out of the window, where it sounds as if there are several police cars.
. . . and is alarmed to see . . .
When he turns round he is alarmed to see
. . . the same inside as well
he is confronted by two police officers.
Females are being escorted into a room
Elsewhere various females are being put into a room by a female officer,
"I'm not a customer – well, not exactly!"
and Colin complains, “Hold the fort!   I'm not here as a customer – well, not exactly, anyway!”
Then he hears a familiar voice, shouting, “I haven’t touched any one here – I’m not even going to tell you my name until I see my solicitor!”
"Dai?"
He comes face to face with Colin, who exclaims, “Dai?”
"Good grief!   Colin – what are you doing here?"
and they both want to know what the other is doing there.
"I could ask you the same thing!"
Colin is in a state of extreme panic.
"There's still no sign of that girl"
In the Deri, Hywel reports to Siôn that there is still no sign of the girl who disappeared the other day, then he comes across another news story;
"The police have raided a brothel in Carmarthen"
“It says here that the police have raided a brothel in Carmarthen.   Several women and a couple of local blokes have been arrested – they don’t name anyone.”
From behind the bar, Garry maintains that it is about time the police did something about the problem,
"That's Colin!"
then Siôn sees Colin in one of the accompanying pictures.   “Well, well, who would have thought it?” comments Gwyneth,
"Anyone who gets involved with the Monks . . ."
“But anyone who gets involved with the Monks ends up in trouble with the police, don’t they?”
Britt wants to know what is happening
Britt has gone to the police station and would like to know what has happened, but the officer behind the desk does not say a word.
Colin emerges and see her
Then she sees Colin emerging from a room, and looking very sheepish.
He is very sorry
He says that he is very sorry,
"This is not what it looks like"
and promises her, “This is not what it looks like – I can explain everything.”
Then Britt hears another, easily recognisable voice
Dai’s raised voice can be heard, ranting, “I’m innocent – and I can prove it!   I’m going to phone my solicitor to clear my name right now!”
"How was I supposed to know it was full of 'ladies of the night'?"
When he sees Britt, he rages, “Don’t look at me like that, good girl!   I was there in good faith, pricing a job for APD!   Sodom and Gomorrah!   How was I supposed to know the place was full of ‘ladies of the night’?   And on Boncath Street as well!”
"It didn't look like a brothel!"
Colin tries to explain to Britt that it did not look like a brothel;  “Not that I would know!” he quickly adds.
"Home deliveries?   Passion fruit and condoms?"
Dai interrupts that he does know now, and demands what he was doing there;  “Do you do home deliveries from the shop now?   What were you delivering – passionfruit and condoms?”   Britt snarls that Colin can find his own way home.
"I'm not the one who needs luck!"
Dai divulges that Diane is on her way to pick him up now, and Colin wishes him good luck;  “I’m not the one who needs luck!” Dai assures him.
Someone wants to meet Izzy
At Llwyncelyn, Izzy receives a text message;  she is asked by a Howard if she would like to meet up, and suggests tomorrow night at the Deri at six.
They arrange a rendezvous at the Deri
She replies, “Great!” and looks quite pleased with herself.
"It's going to wreck your reputation – and APD's good name!"
Colin sits quietly, as Diane is berating Dai, “I’m ashamed that you were there at all!   It’s going to wreck your reputation – and APD’s good name.   And it will disgrace me as a councillor!”
Dai protests that he had no idea;
"There weren't any red lights in the windows!"
“I wasn’t on the Reeperbahn [the nightlife district of Hamburg], was I?   There weren’t red lights in the windows!”

"What about all the naked women around the place?"
She wonders if he did not suspect something with naked women around the place, but he points out that they were not naked;  “In any case, my mind was on other things – bidets, tiles and shower heads!”   She insists that neither he or APD should have been anywhere near the place,
"We've lost out on a pound or two, I can tell you!"
and he realises that now;  “Good grief – there were at least six bedrooms, and we’ve lost out on a pound or two, I can tell you!”
As she marches out of the police station, Dai tells Colin, “Come on, then – and zip it!”
Cassie did not want to miss the 'hustings'
Much to Garry’s surprise, Cassie comes into the Deri, as she did not want to miss the hustings;  she tells Siôn that she will get her results at the end of the week,
"Will you be able to lead the next Writing Club?"
and asks if he will be able to lead the next Writing Club.   He replies that it will be a pleasure;
"With 'Scandi Noir' as the theme"
“On the condition that I can choose ‘Scandi Noir’ as the theme.”   She thinks that things are ‘noir’ enough as it is.
"No-one has been charged, OK?"
Dai walks in and announces, “Before anyone says anything, I just want you to know that Colin and I has been released and no-one has been charged, OK?   Does everyone understand?   Garry, get me a pint, please!”
"What were you two doing in a brothel?"
Hywel cannot let this opportunity pass, but comments, “It’s true then – what were you two doing in a brothel?”
"Look here, Casanova, I went there to work!"
Dai angrily turns on him and snarls, “Look here, Casanova, I went there to work!”
"A sideline as a masseur, is it?"
Eifion wonders if he has a sideline as a masseur, and is told, “En-suite toilets, Eifion!”
"And Colin was measuring your pipes!"
Gwyneth is also enjoying this, remarking, “Don’t tell me, Colin was measuring your pipes!”
"Watch what you say, Gwyneth!"
but is warned by Garry to watch what she says.
"Why didn't you answer my messages?"
When Izzy comes in, she protests that she has been so busy she has not had a chance to look at her phone, where Eifion has left several messages.
"Lisa's been so supportive of my campaign"
Anita informs Hywel that Lisa will soon be arriving;  “She’s been so supportive of my campaign,” she says, and Hywel smiles.
"How could you?   After everything Mam's been through?"
At the chip shop flat, Colin walks in very quietly, and Aaron demands, “How could you?   After everything Mam’s been through?   It’s all over the Internet!”
"It's not what it looks like, Aaron!"
Colin explains that it is not what it looks like,
"I'm sure that's what Dad used to say – and he murdered them!"
but is told, “I’m sure that’s what Dad used to say when he went to see prostitutes – and killed them!”
As Colin tries to persuade him this is not like his father,
"You're supposed to be supporting her, Colin!"
Garry comes up the stairs, wanting to know where Britt is.   Aaron says she has locked herself in her room.   “Do you have any idea what you’ve done?” Garry rages, “You’re supposed to be supporting her and . . .”
"This is between Colin and me!"
At this point, Britt comes in and orders Garry to go home, insisting that this is a matter between her and Colin;
"And you as well, Aaron!"
she also tells Aaron to go to his room.
"Nothing happened – all I was doing was . . ."
Colin pleads, “With my hand on my heart, Britt, nothing happened – nothing – all I was doing was . . .”
"You were in a bedroom with another woman!"
She stops him there and does not care what he was doing;  “You were there – in a bedroom with another woman!”
Again he emphasises that nothing sexual was going on – nothing physical, even;
"I would never be unfaithful to you!"
“I would never be unfaithful to you!”   She repeats that he was there,
"I don't think I can ever forgive you!"
and she does not think she can ever forgive him.
Hywel explains why he is the best candidate . . .
In the Deri, Hywel is addressing the listeners, “That’s why I don’t have a manifesto, as it were,
. . . he is ready to listen to what they want
“but I’m ready to listen to what you want.”
Lisa has joined the audience
He notices that Lisa has joined his audience, and he assures them, “What you want is very important to me.”
"That's what every politician says"
Eifion remarks to Izzy, “That’s what every politician says,” and she replies that is what people want to hear.   Eifion thinks his speech went down quite well, but Izzy is not convinced.
"With your help, we'll sort out the problems"
Hywel continues, “I’m not perfect, but Cwmderi is not a perfect place – with your help, we’ll sort out the problems in this place.   I’m ready to listen – I’m ready for change – and I look forward to serving you on the county council.”   He thinks his performance went quite well.
"You spoke very well earlier, Anita"
At the bar, Dai remarks that Anita spoke very well earlier;
"I thought Diane would have been here"
she thought that Diane would be there, as she is a parish councillor.   Siôn suggest that perhaps she does not want to face people tonight – under the circumstances.
"Lisa has been behind my campaign 100%"
“Lisa was late arriving as well – but she has been behind my campaign 100%,” Anita continues.   Dai says that it looks as if they have got their campaign going, looking across to where Hywel and Lisa are talking.   Megan suggests that it is easy to light an old flame,
"More like a bonfire – they were the Posh and Becks of Cwmderi!"
Dai prefers to describe it as, “A bonfire – they were like the ‘Posh and Becks’ of Cwmderi – but those sparks were flying ages ago!”
This is news to Anita
Anita had no idea about this, and goes to confront them.
"You're after him, aren't you?"
She rages, “No wonder you’ve been asking me so many questions about Hywel – you’re after him, aren’t you?”   Hywel thanks her for passing on the information, and Siôn considers it a fitting time for them to go home, but Anita has other ideas.   “I want an explanation,” she snarls, “You told me you were going to support my campaign!”
"Everyone has a right to change their mind"
Lisa replies that everyone has the right to change their mind;
"You're both so two-faced, you deserve each other!"
“You know what?   You’re both so two-faced, you deserve each other!” Anita emphatically tells them, and walks out, leaving the two of them laughing.
"Dani's hiding upstairs, is she?"
Gwyneth goes to the bar and asks Garry where Dani is, suspecting that she is hiding upstairs;  “I can’t wait until you leave Cwmderi,” he replies,
"I'm not going anywhere until the money's in my account"
but she makes it clear she is not going anywhere until the money is in her account.
“I shall make the final payment tomorrow,” she says,
"I want to know the second you pay it in!"
and he wants to know the second she pays it in.
Gwern is listening from the foot of the stairs
Gwern has just crept downstairs, and hears Garry as he continues,
"Then you'll have 24 hours to pack up and leave!"
“After that, you’ll have 24 hours to pack up your stuff and leave!”
"You go back up – I'll be there in a minute"
As soon as he sees Gwern, he forbids Gwyneth to touch him, and and tells the boy to go back upstairs.
"You can't stop me seeing my son!"
“You can’t stop me seeing my son!” Gwyneth rages, but he points out that as the Deri’s landlord, he can do whatever he wants here.   “You can’t do this – they call it parental alienation, its against the law!” she protests,
"You should be careful about involving the law!"
but Garry advises that she should be very wary about involving the law.
"You have every right to be angry, Britt"
Britt and Colin sit at the table, and he confesses that she has every right to be angry with him;  “What – scream at the top of my voice and throw you out in the street?” she suggests.
"I was bringing the arrangement to an end"
“I went to see her today to bring the arrangement to an end,” he says,
"What exactly was 'the arrangement'?"
but Britt wants to know exactly what this arrangement was, and considers she has a right to know, just demanding that he is honest with her.
"I talked to her, when I needed someone to listen"
“I talked to her – when I needed someone to listen, I paid her for her time – and we talked.”
"About how difficult it is to live with me"
Britt realises that it must have been about how difficult it is to live with her and her condition.   He agrees that was part of the conversation, and she wonders why Colin could not talk to her.
"Sometimes it's easier to talk to someone you don't know"
“Sometimes it’s easier to talk to someone you don’t know,” he says, and Britt points out that he does not know her any more.
“I wish I could say that things will change – that I’m going to change –
"Perhaps I'll be like this for ever"
“but perhaps I’ll be like this for ever,” she groans, and does not want Colin to touch her.
"Do you want me to move out?"
He asks if she wants him to move out, but she does not know what she wants.
"I'm sorry for being the way I am"
Again he apologises, and she is also sorry for being the way she is.
"I'm sorry you had to see us falling out"
Garry brings a drink for Gwern, and says, “I’m sorry you had to see us falling out like that.”
"You're always falling out!"
Gwern has noticed that they are always falling out, and asks why he cannot see his mother any more.
"Mam wants what's best for you – but she has to go away"
Garry answers, “The thing is, Mam loves you – you know that, don’t you?   And she wants what’s best for you – but she has to go away, and you’re staying here.”
"Why is she going away?"
Gwern wants to know why she is going, and is told a tale about one of his mother’s close friends being unwell –
"She didn't want you to know, because she's upset"
but she did not want him to know because she is upset, so he is not to say a word to her.
"You're going to be safe, I promise!"
“She might be away for a long time, but you’re going to be safe here with me, I promise you that!” Garry reassures him.
