At number 7, Iolo is asking Greta what they should leave out for Father Christmas; Tyler says that it should be a glass of milk, and carrots for Rudolph.

Greta nods her consent to this, and suddenly, Tyler realises he has forgotten something, and is about to leave the house.

| "Tomorrow's going to be special" |
Iolo assures him, “Tomorrow’s going to be special, after everything that’s happened – I should never have doubted you,” but Tyler just wants to forget about that now, and intends that they will have a day to remember.

| "Carrots, or Rudolph will be angry!" |
He must go and get the carrots, or Rudolph will be angry;

| Greta disapproves of Iolo eating a mince pie |
Iolo picks up a mince pie, but Greta shakes her head, disapprovingly.

| "I'm not interested in Mathew!" |
Tesni is wrapping presents, as Guto comments, “Mathew must be having a day from hell today – he was out in Aber last night!” but she makes it quite clear she is not interested, although he thinks that it is hilarious. Their mother and father arrive home, and Tesni complains that she is starving.

| "Two women fighting over a turkey" |
Jaclyn tells her, “There were two women fighting over a turkey in CostMart – they had to call security in the end!” Gerwyn adds that they were thrown out when one hit the other with a baguette.

Unfortunately they have had to cut back on expenses, and Tesni moans that she likes Brie;

| "Or any Brazil nuts!" |
Guto cannot find any Brazil nuts, or selection boxes.

“There’s no Key Lime Pie, Mam!” whines Tesni, and they are told that they have to be careful, knowing that their mother has lost her job.

“There’s plenty of food here – less of your lip, please!” Jaclyn snarls.

Mark comes downstairs at Maes-y-Deri and finds a Christmas card on the mat,

| He finds it is Eileen calling |
His phone rings, and Eileen would like him to do more deliveries for her;

“Of course I can – I’ve got nothing else to do,” he replies, picks up his coat and leaves the house.

| "Urgh – this tastes like wormwood!" |
Brenda complains about the wine Jaclyn has bought; “It tastes like wormwood! You need a bit of quality at Christmas –

| "If Dylan was here . . ." |
“if Dylan was here, we wouldn’t have to put up with this cheap stuff – we’d have the best of everything!”

| "Don't be so ungrateful!" |
Jaclyn turns and points out, “Some families have to use food banks – so don’t be so ungrateful! You don’t have to drink it – and if you don’t like this chocolate log . . .” She takes it away from her children, and takes it out to deposit it in the bin.

Brenda puts it down to PMT,

but Gerwyn is under the impression she is missing Dylan; Guto reminds him that she said she did not want him around, and maintains she has not been right since they quarrelled.

“Tomorrow’s going to be great, if she’s like this,” Tesni moans.

When Mark delivers a hamper to Llwyncelyn, Gaynor says there must be some mistake, as she did not order it, and wonders whether Hywel did.

“We don’t need so many mince pies and sausage rolls – unless this is for the carol service in the Deri tonight.

| "You and Debbie are coming, aren't you?" |
“You and Debbie are coming, aren’t you? It will be fun, especially if Debbie is on the mulled wine, like she was last year!”

| "We've separated, Gaynor" |
Mark informs her that they have separated,

| "That's a shame, just before Christmas" |
and she regards that as a shame, just before Christmas. He refuses a cup of tea, as has he has other deliveries to make,

and she encourages him to come to the Deri tonight, as it will be better than brooding alone.

| "I don't want Greta to sleep too long" |
Iolo does not want Greta to sleep too long or she will not sleep tonight; he says that he is going to phone the police to see if there is any further news.

“We have a right to know,” he insists, “Otherwise you won’t enjoy tomorrow.” Tyler objects, fearing that they will charge him, and that will definitely spoil Christmas.

“We have to face this some time, don’t we?” Iolo continues, dialling the number.

but he will not give any details, requiring to speak to Tyler himself,

who takes the phone with some trepidation.

| Garry's assembly efforts are not going well . . . |
Garry is becoming frustrated as he attempts to assemble the toy kitchen for Seren;

At the end of the telephone conversation, Tyler turns round and announces, “As they don’t have an independent witness to corroborate Aled’s story, and it’s his word against mine, they have decided to drop the investigation for now.”

Iolo regards that as fantastic,

but is reminded that they said, “For now! What if they reopen the case in future?”
Iolo reminds him that there is no independent witness to confirm Aled’s story, so he has nothing to worry about;

John assures them he will be there at the Deri at six o’clock.

Garry comes hurrying along the street, fearful that APD would have closed early; he wants a small screwdriver, and explains, “I’m building Seren a kitchen – she’s two tomorrow – and I’m tearing my hair out!

At number 10, there is a knock at the door, and no-one seems keen to answer it, so Gerwyn has to do so.

He finds that it is Mark, with a Cae Glas hamper, sent by Dylan.

Guto and Tesni descend on it with excitement, and find Belgian chocolate, rum fudge, Brie, red onion crackers –

and even a bottle for their grandmother.
Mark further produces a gift for each of them from Dylan, which he left with Eileen. Gerwyn realises that he must regret having argued with Jaclyn, and Mark slips away, as he has more deliveries to make.

Gaynor hopes that Hywel has not spent a fortune on her, but he points out, “I won’t be in the good books if I haven’t.” She describes him as very generous, buying that hamper, but he enlightens her, “I have take it to a soup kitchen in Swansea tomorrow – the council is keen that we’re seen to be helping those who are less fortunate.”

Gaynor objects to this interfering with their Christmas dinner, but he goes on, “We can have it at the end of the afternoon.

Gaynor accepts that it may be a good idea, and suggests earning some more brownie points by pretending that they have cooked the mince pies; “Take them out of the box and wrap them in foil.”

He hails her as a genius.

| Jaclyn is not enraptured |
Jaclyn is not at all happy about accepting her gift from Dylan;

Gerwyn emphasises that Dylan must really regret arguing with her, as that necklace must have cost something. Brenda jokes that she should unplug the fridge freezer more often,

and Tesni proposes Skyping Uncle Dylan to say thanks,

but her mother forbids that, as it will be the middle of the night in Koh Samui.
Tesni decides she is definitely going to wear her new earrings to the Deri,

but Jaclyn has made up her mind she is not going; “You go – I’m not in the mood, and I’ve got a lot to do,” she replies.

Brenda tactfully suggests that she and the children could go now, and their parents can come when they are ready.

Garry rewards Dai with a pint, on the house, and is asked if there is a chance of a small brandy to go with that; “Seeing that I’ve saved Christmas for Seren?”

| Once again, Tesni is anxious to get drinking |
When they arrive in the Deri, Tesni wants to get straight on with shots, but Guto is not keen to have a ‘session’, neither does he want a hangover tomorrow.

He demands why she is so desperate to enjoy herself; “Because Mathew is enjoying himself?”

| Iolo and Tyler are full of smiles for a change |
Iolo and Tyler also come in, looking uncommonly happy; they are given copies of the carols by Hywel, and Diane calls everyone to order. “Will you turn to the first carol on the sheet, please? It’s Suai’r Gwynt.”

Llinos gives them a note, and they begin,

At number 10, Gerwyn tells Jaclyn, “You can’t ignore me for ever – you knew I was looking forward to it tonight,” and she grumbles that she is not stopping him from going. “I want you to be there too, instead of sitting here on your own,” he goes on.

As he disposes of wrappings from the presents in the bin,

She insists that she is fine, but he knows that is not the case;

After a few seconds’ thought, she comes up with the tale, “Things haven’t been right between me and Dyl for a while – since he started going out with Sara, he always takes her side, when things go wrong in work.

Gerwyn thought that she and Dylan were so close, and she agrees that they used to be,

but now she does not know him any more, and is quite adamant she does not want to talk to him.

Gerwyn accuses her of overreacting, by throwing it away his necklace,

He is very shocked by her attitude.

Mark is now sitting outside the Deri by the Christmas tree when Gaynor comes past; she is late because Lois phoned just as she was leaving. “She wanted to wish us happy Christmas – she’s in Barcelona. I’m glad you decided to come out – is Ricky coming home tomorrow?”

Gaynor would have invited him over to Llwyncelyn tomorrow, but they are going to Swansea to help the homeless.

Iolo comes to the bar asking Garry for a bottle of champagne and a couple of glasses. “The police have dropped the case against Tyler,” he announces,

“We found out earlier – I knew that Aled was a liar – and now it’s official!”

| "You're off the hook, I hear" |
Tyler joins him, and Garry comments sternly, “You’re off the hook, I hear.”

Iolo is looking forward to enjoying Christmas, and invites Garry to have a drink with them, but he refuses as he is working. Iolo insists that he can break the rules just for tonight,

but Garry rather reproachfully points out, “Don’t you think that breaking the rules is a bit risky?”

| "We're going to tell Dani – Happy Christmas, Garry!" |
They are about to go upstairs to tell Dani the good news, and wish Garry, “Happy Christmas!”

| "Yeah – Happy Christmas!" |
“Yeah – Happy Christmas!” mutters Garry, as he stands, grim-faced, behind the bar.
