Ffion is convinced she has the job
Ffion returns from her interview in a very optimistic mood, and tells Rhys, “I answered all the questions confidently and a lot of the panel agreed with me.   They seemed happy with the presentation.”
"There – I told you that you would!"
He points out that he told her she would get the job.
Ffion wants to celebrate already
She thinks that they should celebrate tonight;  “With a meal in the Deri.”
Rhys suggests that they could have a more private celebration, there, in the flat;  she warns that if her phone rings, she will answer it.
"I could know by tonight!"
“They said by the end of the week, but it could be tonight!’
"My last chance before you become a Deputy Head!"
Rhys thinks that it may be his last chance tonight before she becomes a Deputy Head, so he is willing to risk it for the next half an hour.
"It was terrible, Iol!"
Tyler is also at home after his interview, and is less pleased with his interview performance;  “I’m sure it wasn’t that bad,” says Iolo, but Tyler whines that it was terrible, and there were a few questions he did not answer well.
"Everyone says that after an interview"
“Everyone says that after an interview,” Iolo comments, handing him a bottle, “And you can’t do anything about it now, can you?   You should just look forward to tomorrow – the suits are ready, buttonholes are in the fridge.”
"You can dry, Tesni"
When Tesni comes back from school to the shop flat, Sioned is doing the washing up, and tells her that she can dry;
"There's no need to create work"
“Let them drip dry – there is no need to create to work,” replies Tesni.
"No-one told me you were coming here!"
Sioned demands that she pull her weight, if she is going to live there, and is rather angry that no-one told her in advance;  “Mathew didn’t say a word,” she moans,
Tesni selects what she wants to watch on television
but Tesni takes no notice, being too busy watching the television.
"Playing house already, are you?"
Gaynor arrives home with a box of Cae Glas organic vegetables, and Izzy remarks, “Playing house already, are you?   Joke, Mam – I know you’re spending time together and seeing how it goes.
"Does Rhys know?"
“Does Rhys know – in case I put my foot in it?”
"We should be honest from the start"
Hywel replies that he has not said anything, but perhaps they should be honest with people from the start;  “Why don’t you phone Rhys, tell him to meet you in the Deri, and to bring Ffion?” suggests Gaynor, but Izzy regards that as rather a public place.
"Or you could invite them to dinner here"
Alternatively, they could be invited to Llwyncelyn for dinner tonight,
"Rhys, is Ffion with you?"
and Hywel makes the call;
Their 'celebration' is interrupted
Ffion and Rhys are ‘otherwise occupied’ on the sofa when the phone rings, and his father invites them over for dinner tonight.
Ffion thinks she knows the reasoning behind the invitation
Ffion prompts Rhys to accept the invitation, immediately jumping to the conclusion that she is to be offered the job.
"I have to find something to wear!"
“Gaynor wants us to come over for dinner – I have to find something to wear!” she says, and jumps up from what they were doing, taking care to  cover herself with the blanket,
Off she goes, complete with the blanket
leaving Rhys, clad only in his boxers;  she is very excited.
DJ will make pizzas tonight
DJ arrives at the shop flat with a bag;  “I thought I’d make pizzas for everyone, instead of ordering takeaways,” he says, “But I shall need a sous-chef.”
"I'm going for a shower"
Tesni immediately delegates this responsibility to Sioned, as she decides to go and have a shower.
"She's driving me up the wall!"
“She’s driving me up the wall!” complains Sioned, “She doesn’t help – and nobody even asked me if she could move in!   She won’t listen to me.”
"Will you talk to her – please?"
DJ points out that Tesni is young, and Sioned wants him to talk to her.
DJ would rather stay out of this
He would rather keep out of this, and advises that she talk to Mathew about it, as he is the one paying rent for her.
"Mathew should have talked to me first!"
She continues to insist, “He should have talked to me first!”
"Right, you can start by chopping these tomatoes"
DJ would like her, in the meantime, to assist him by chopping the tomatoes.
These two are to spend the night apart
Iolo comes downstairs and thinks that everything is ready for the ceremony tomorrow;  for some traditional reason they are spending the night apart, with Iolo and Greta staying at Y Felin.
"I know it sounds silly"
Iolo admits that it does sound rather silly, but it is all arranged now.
"See you tomorrow, Iol"
Tyler will see him tomorrow.
"Don't go overboard with the drinks, Hywel"
Gaynor is cooking dinner, and warns Hywel not to go overboard with the drinks;  “I think they’re going to be pleased for us and I want to celebrate,” he optimistically tells her.
"Here's your order, Gaynor"
Suddenly Jim appears at the back door, carrying a box of vegetables;  Gaynor points out that she has already collected her box from Penrhewl, and is cooking it now.

Hywel draw attention to the address on the delivery note
Nevertheless, Jim insists that this box is for her, even when Hywel points at the enclosed delivery note,
which is addressed to number 10, High Street.
“Look, if you’ve ordered twice, that’s not my problem!” Jim growls,

"Look, Jim, that's what it says"
and Hywel takes out the delivery note and shows it to him, but Jim shouts that he has torn it.
"Don't think you've heard the last of this!"
“Don’t think that you’ve heard the last of this!” he roars and storms out of the door.
"Is she coming back to sort this out?"
Sioned is concerned about all the bottles and glasses left on the worktop, and asks Mathew, “Is she coming back to sort this out?”
"All right, Sioned, I'll do it"
Mathew replies he will deal with it now, as Sioned continues, “She has to do her share, if she’s living here!   And it would have been nice if you asked me in the first place.”
"There are enough pizzas here for twenty"
DJ finds that he has made enough pizzas for twenty people, and Mathew come to the conclusion, “So Tesni was right – you are angry about the washing-up.”
Tesni has helped herself from the shop
Tesni comes back in with some items she has taken from the shop, and maintains she will pay for them tomorrow.
This does not go down well with Sioned, so Mathew will go and leave the money by the till.
Tesni is increasingly getting on Sioned's nerves
Tesni is making cocktails, when the lid falls off the shaker, and Sioned glowers at her.
"My appointment is next week"
Jim is at number 10, where he explains to Brenda that he is going for his appointment next week;  “A blood test, a scan and some cognitive test.”
"That's a memory test"
Brenda confirms that Ned had those, and explains that it is a memory test – he will be asked to remember a few things, to recognise a few pictures.
He is worried that it may be difficult, and wants to do some rehearsing,
"Pig, elephant, lion – Huwi could do these!"
so he looks on his phone and finds a relevant test;  “Pig, elephant, lion – Huwi could do these – and he could do their noises too.”   Then he finds the section on remembering words.
“Rose, church, face, rainbow, blue,” he recites,
He remembers the words with no difficulty
and when Brenda takes his phone, he can remember them with no trouble.   The next step is five numbers, which he can manage easily, but finds remembering them backwards is more difficult.
"You don't remember someone's phone number backwarsd, do you?"
“You don’t remember someone’s phone number backwards, do you?” he moans.
Guto comes downstairs
Guto comes downstairs and finds them laughing;  he hands Jim the payment for the vegetable box, which his mother left with him.
"Eileen will be wondering where I am"
Jim thinks he had better go, as Eileen will be wondering where he is.   He gives Brenda a kiss,
Guto's suspicions are roused
which Guto considers rather odd.
"I thought I'd better make an effort"
Ffion and Rhys arrive at Llwyncelyn;  Ffion looks very elegant, saying that she thought she had better make an effort, and gives flowers to Gaynor.
Hywel hands them their drinks
“Very apt, considering the circumstances,” remarks Hywel, handing champagne to his son, and grape juice to Ffion.
"To new, but familiar paths"
“We’re celebrating,” Hywel goes on, “It’s something that will affect all our lives,” and he proposes a toast, “To new, but familiar, paths.”
Ffion believes she knows what is coming
Of course, Ffion takes this as her elevation to the position of Deputy Head, about which she looks very pleased.
"What were you and Jim laughing about?"
Guto asks his grandmother, “What were you and Jim laughing about?   It sounded as if you were having fun.
"You're not worried he's going to 'flip'?"
“You’re not worried he’s going to ‘flip’ or something, are you?   The whole village is talking about how he kicked off in the Deri last week.”
Brenda tells him not to listen to gossip,
"I just want to make sure you're OK"
but he just wanted to make sure she is OK.   “You might be my favourite grandson, but Jim and I are good friends – very good friends,” she informs him,
"He won't 'flip' with me!"
“We enjoy each other’s company – and he won’t ‘flip’ with me!”
"I'm going over to see Tesni"
Now Brenda has finished the washing-up, she will relax and watch her programme on the television;  Guto says he is going over to see Tesni.
Tesni is handing out her cocktails
Eifion and Izzy are being entertained at the shop flat, and Tesni is handing out her cocktails
"No, it's school tomorrow, Tes"
when Guto comes in and refuses a drink, as it is school tomorrow.   Tesni calls him a, “Geek!”
"Is there something going on between Gran and Jim?"
He asks her if she thinks something is going on between their Gran and Jim;  “They are being secretive – and she kissed him on the cheek!”   Tesni replies that she does that all the time, and it is annoying.   Guto helps himself to a slice of pizza.
"Look, I'll talk to Tesni tomorrow"
Mathew assures Sioned that he will talk to Tesni tomorrow, and DJ encourages her to enjoy the evening.   Eifion pulls out a piece of paper from the jar with the name of a film on it, so that is what they will watch.
They settle down for their film evening
They all settle down in front of the screen.
The meal at Llwyncelyn is going down well . . .
As the meal at Llwyncelyn progresses, they are enjoying their spaghetti, but Ffion cannot wait any longer;
. . . but Ffion's curiosity get the better of her
“I just want to hear it officially,” she tells Rhys, “Once you’ve told us the news, we can all relax and enjoy the night.   The champagne, all the talk about celebrating – it’s obvious!”
"We've decided to give our relationship another go"
Hywel makes the announcement, “As you know, there’s a bit of history between Gaynor and myself – we’ve decided to give our relationship another go.”
Gaynor adds, “We’re taking things slowly, but just wanted to tell you,”
Not what Ffion wanted to hear . . .
which brings a look of disbelief to Ffion’s face.   Hywel holds Gaynor’s hand, and says that he is feeling great,
. . . in fact, she looks quite indignant
but Ffion looks absolutely furious.
Iolo reads his father's masterpiece . . .
At Y Felin, Iolo comes downstairs and finds his father’s poem on the table;
. . . and sends a photo to Tyler
he reads it, with what appears to be amusement, then gets out his phone and sends a photo of it to Tyler.
"Wow!"
Sinking down into a chair, he mutters, “Wow!”
Garry arrives for a low-key 'stag night'
Garry arrives at number 7 with some drinks for them, as Tyler is looking at the poem,
"Siôn has written a poem for us"
and wants to know what is so interesting.   “Siôn has written a poem for us,” Tyler replies, “And I don’t understand it!”
"I can't wait to hear you say this!"
Garry reads it out, with considerable amusement;  “I can’t wait to hear you say this!” he quips.
"The solid trunk of our love!"
“The solid trunk of our love,
The flame in our hearts;
Our love is a powerful tree,
A pure circle of everlasting seasons.”
He encourages Tyler to read it out slowly, in order to practise it, and with a bit of emotion.
"What's that all about?"
“From seed to bud,” Tyler recites, and then both of them dissolve into laughter.
"You enjoy being cruel to me!"
Ffion is really going ‘over the top’ as she protests, “You enjoy being cruel to me!   Inviting us here, all official –
"Pretending there was some big news!"
“and pretending there was some big news!”
As Rhys tries to calm her, she continues, “You know I’m waiting to hear about the job!”   Gaynor wonders why she would think tonight had anything to do with work.
"On the day of the interview - seriously?"
“On the day of the interview – seriously?” Ffion rages,
"Some wires have got crossed here, Ffi"
and Rhys points out that there have been some crossed wires.
"Why don't we just sit down?"
Hywel urges them all to sit down again,
"Well – are you going to tell me about the job?"
but Ffion demands if Gaynor is going to tell her about the job.
"There are official ways of doing it"
“There are official ways of informing applicants,” she replies.
“Yes, when it suits you!’ snarls Ffion, “You’re professional when it suits you – but you enjoy watching me suffer!”
"What do you want me to say – no, you didn't get the job!"
Gaynor answers, “What do you want me to say, Ffion?   No, sorry, you didn’t get the job – the panel didn’t think you were the strongest candidate – happy now?”
"Was that part of the plot to make me feel a fool?"
“You told me to apply!” screams Ffion, “Was it part of the plot to make me feel like a fool?”   As Hywel protests that she cannot make accusations like that,
Ffion picks up a nearby plate of Spaghetti Bolognese . . .
Ffion picks up a plate of spaghetti,
. . . and makes rather a mess of Gaynor's dress
and deposits it all over the front of Gaynor’s dress.
Gaynor is incandescent with rage . . .
As Gaynor explodes with rage, Ffion reminds her that it is not nice to feel a fool, and walks out,
. . . while Ffion and Rhys make a hasty exit
followed by Rhys, as Gaynor shouts, “I’ll send you the bill for the dress!”
"That went well, didn't it?"
She turns to Hywel, commenting, “That went well, didnt it?
