Sara watches Jason across the road
Sara is watching from inside the shop as Jason walks along the other side of the road;  he stops talk to someone,
"I'm just worried about him"
and Dylan asks Sara if she is OK.   “I’m just worried about Jason, that’s all,” she replies, “Sorry, it’s not fair on you.”
"If he had thought more of you in the first place . . ."
Dylan tells her, “If he had thought more of you in the first place, he wouldn’t be in this mess,” but she just wants him to be all right.   She has to leave, as Jason continues walking towards Yr Antur, where he meets Rhys.
"I know you're going through a hard time at the moment"
“Look, I know you’re going through a hard time at the moment, but I need you to finish the gym as soon as possible,” Rhys points out,
"I'm doing my best, Rhys"
and Jason maintains that he is doing his best.   “So, in the hope that this will help things along, here’s part of the payment for the work,” Rhys adds, and hands him a wad of money;  “Do we understand each other?”
Dylan watches the money changing hands
Across the road, Dylan watches with interest as Jason puts the money into his pocket.
Tesni is blissfully unaware of her mother's presence
In the shop flat Tesni is still in her dressing gown, and loud music is playing on the radio;  she is startled to see her mother has come up the stairs.   “Turn it down a bit,” Jaclyn instructs her,
"I've just had a phone call from Mrs Llywelyn"
“I’ve just had a phone call from Mrs Llywelyn – what’s going on?   Is it a joke, that you’re leaving school?   Not going to university is one thing,
"Leaving school without A-levels makes no sense!'
“but leaving school without A-levels, well, it makes no sense.   What are you going to do with your life?”
"I'm going to find a job!"
As Tesni bites into her toast, she informs her mother, “I’m going to find a job!’   Jaclyn wonders what sort of job she is going to get without A-levels, and Tesni is unable to answer that.
"You obviously haven't thought this through!"
She is told that she has obviously not thought this through, and replies, “Gran doesn’t think it’s stupid.”
“So your Gran gets to know these things before your parents?” rages her mother, “We need to sort this out straightaway!
"Family meeting at lunchtime – don't forget to turn up!"
“We’re going to have a family meeting at lunchtime – don’t you dare forget to turn up!”
Jason's mind appears to be elsewhere
In the gym, with the roller shutter door open, Jason is half-heartedly working, but then throws down his paintbrush, picks up his phone and keys,
He counts the money he has acquired . . .
and counts the money he has just been given.   He is obviously tempted,
. . . then closes up the gym
so puts on his jacket and closes the shutter door.
"I'm working in the wrong place to go on a diet"
At lunchtime, DJ comes to the shop flat with some chips to share with Sioned;  “I’m working in the wrong place to go on a diet,” he says, “Come on, then – get the plates.”
"What have you been up to, then?"
When he asks what she has been up to, she answers that she has done the same thing that she does every day;
Life is getting on Sioned's nerves

“I watch the clock, until it gets on my nerves, overreact to every noise until that gets on my nerves – and try not to let Tesni get on my nerves!   Jealous?”
DJ says that she cannot carry on like this – it is not healthy, but she argues that she has no choice.
"Go out for a walk – get some fresh air!"
“Go out for a walk – get some fresh air – you don’t have to go far,”
"It's not safe while Jessie's around"
but Sioned is convinced that it is not safe while Jessie is still around.
“You’re not acting like the Sioned I know – you’re not usually scared of anything,” DJ tells her, “You’ve been in prison, and I’m sure you saw worse things in there than Jessie.”
"They weren't free to come after me!"
She points out that the difference is they were not free to come after her.
“I know how prison works – it’s much more dangerous,” he insists, but Sioned will not accept that.
"Don't waste your time waiting for the right time"
“All right, but don’t waste your time waiting for the right time – if not now – when?” he demands.
Rhys finds the gym shut – and boxes outside
Rhys walks up to the roller shutter door of the gym, and finds some boxes have been delivered outside;
"Hey, Jase!"
when he finds the door padlocked and bangs on it, of course there is no answer.   He reaches a conclusion, and strides away, going into the back door of APD.
"Do you know where Jason is?"
He asks Diane if she knows where Jason is, but she has not seen him since this morning;  “It’s like a go-slow with this gym!” he complains,
"He's having a hard time at the moment"
but she explains that Jason is having a hard time at the moment.
"I gave him £300 – and how he's gone AWOL!"
“Yes, I know things aren’t easy for him, but this morning I gave him some money in the hope that he would work faster – but now he’s gone AWOL!   I gave him £300 in cash!”
Diane tries to contact Jason . . .
Looking extremely concerned, Diane immediately tries to contact Jason’s mobile, but there is no reply.
. . . who is at that moment playing pool . . .
We see that Jason is at a pub somewhere, playing a game of pool,
. . . and looking longingly at the fruit machine
and looking enviously at someone using a fruit machine.
He puts his scratchcards on the bar . . .
He pulls from his pocket some scratchcards and finishes his pint, then walks towards the machine,
. . . and approaches the machine
some of the money in his hand.
Suddenly Dylan is there, grinning at him
Suddenly Dylan appears behind him;  “Any luck?” he asks, and Jason wants to know what he is doing there.
"Expensive – perhaps you'll be lucky with the next one"
Dylan picks up the scratchcards, looking accusingly at him;  “Expensive!” he comments, smirking, “You’re not going to throw them away, are you?   Perhaps you’ll be lucky with the next one!”
"You'd like that – watching me fall off the wagon again!"
“You’d like that, wouldn’t you, Dylan?” Jason replies, “Watching me fall off the wagon again!   Watching me making a real mess of things – that would suit you.”
"How about a drink, Jason?"
Dylan agrees with him, and offers him a drink, but Jason refuses.
"You haven't left school as well, have you?"
At number 10, Tesni arrives for the family meeting;  “You haven’t left school too, have you?” she remarks to Guto, but he points out he has a free lesson.
Gerwyn manages to get a few words in, before . . .
They sit down round the table, and Gerwyn begins, “Your mother’s told me what’s going on – are you sure this is the right thing to do?”
. . . Jaclyn takes over, as usual
Jaclyn cannot resist taking over, “Of course it isn’t!   If you took a second to think about it, you would see it too.
Tesni tolerates her mother's diatribe . . .
“You think you will get a job just like that?   We’ve made a mistake, spoiling you over the years – you have no idea how to live in the real world!”
. . . but only for so long
Tesni has had enough already, and walks out of the house;  Jaclyn snarls, “Thanks for your help, Ger!
"You and your mother are as bad as each other!"
“You and your mother are as bad as each other!”   She flounces off upstairs, leaving Gerwyn puzzled.
"Rhys paid him this morning – and now he's disappeared"
In her search for Jason, Diane sees Ffion coming out of the café;  “I’m worried,” Diane says, “Rhys paid him this morning and now he’s disappeared!”
"And you think he'll gamble it away"
Ffion can see that Diane suspects he is going to gamble it away;
"I don't know what to think"
“The way he is now – I don’t know what to think,” she groans.
"Rhys is stressed – and I have a lot invested in it"
Ffion hopes that he is not going to take a step back again;  “Rhys is stressed as it is – and I’ve got a lot invested in the business!”   Diane is amazed that is all Ffion is worried about, thinking that Jason would take priority.
"Oh – there's Sara"
Then she sees Sara across the road, and goes to ask her about Jason.
"Why would I know where he is?"
“Why would I know where he is?” she demands,
"It's your fault he's doing these things!"
and Diane maintains that it is her fault he is doing these things, like disappearing with £300 in cash.   She does not know where he is, or what he intends to do – gambling, or perhaps something worse.
“If you had stayed with him, none of this would have happened!” Diane insists, but Sara points out that she stuck with him through everything, and she is still being blamed.
"Jason is the problem here – no-one else!"
“Jason is the problem here – nobody else!” she growls, “When will you realise that?”
He did take advantage of Dylan's offer, after all
Jason obviously reconsidered accepting that drink, and as he finishes it, Dylan assures him that he understands;
"Something positive will happen at some point"
“Things don’t look good for you, but I can’t believe someone can be as unlucky as you have been, without something positive happening at some point.”
"You can fool Sara, but you're not fooling me, all right?"
Jason knowingly replies, “Perhaps you can fool Sara, but you’re not fooling me, all right?   I know your type – people like you can’t be trusted.”   Dylan considers that is very much the same as in his case.   “You’re enjoying this, aren’t you – this little game?” Jason demands.
"I'm trying to look after Sara and Ifan – and even you!"
Dylan is quite definite that there is no game;  “I’m just trying to look after Sara and Ifan – and even you!”
"For some reason – I don't believe you!"
Jason points out that the problem is he does not believe Dylan, for some reason.   “Right then, believe what you want,” Dylan tells him.
The unused scratchcards are put in Dylan's pocket
Jason picks up the scratchcards and stuffs them into Dylan’s pocket;
"I hope you'll have better luck than me!"
“There you go – I hope you’ll have better luck than me!” he says, and leaves the pub.
Sioned drums on her teacup
Sioned is drumming her fingernails on her cup of tea as she ponders what to do;
She tries to summon up her courage . . .
apparently making a decision, she summons up her courage,
. . . glances at the clock . . .
glances at the clock, which reads shortly before 12:55,
. . . and puts on her coat
and puts on her coat.
Leaving the security of the flat . . .
She emerges from the flat into the alley, looks around and thinks she sees someone running away;
. . . she begins to panic . . .
she is beginning to panic
. . . and everything blurs before her eyes
as her surroundings seem to blur before her eyes.
DJ rushes to her aid in the nick of time
She leans on the wall for support, and at that moment DJ is running towards her
"I can't face it out here!"
“Sioned – what’s wrong? he asks, and she confesses that she cannot face it out here;
She is escorted back to the relative safety of the flat
he is sorry for forcing her out too soon, as she is obviously not ready, and she begs him to take her back to the flat.
Gerwyn and Guto clear the table at number 10
At number 10, Gerwyn and Guto are clearing the table when Jaclyn returns downstairs;
"Isn't your children's happiness more important?"
“Listen, I know that making sure your children get a good education is important to you – but isn’t your children’s happiness more important?” Gerwyn enquires, “We have to support whatever Tesni wants to do – or we’ll lose her.”
"I just want the best for Tesni"
Jaclyn again protests that she just wants the best for Tesni, and thinks that she should go to university and get a degree;  “So that she will have the opportunities we didn’t!”
"We have to trust her, Jac"
Gerwyn points out that they have to trust her – she is sensible, but Jaclyn is of the opinion that she is young and reckless;  “I wouldn’t trust myself at her age to make such important decisions.”
"That's most likely the problem"
Gerwyn suggests that is most likely the problem.
"Get back here, quickly, Dai!"
At APD, Diane is on the phone;  “Don’t waste time talking on the phone – get back here quickly!” she orders Dai.   Ffion comes in to see if there is any news, and is sorry about earlier.
"What if it isn't gambling – but something worse?"
“What if it isn’t gambling – but something worse?” Diane fears, “I think I should call the police, but Ffion recommends that she wait until Dai comes back before phoning.   Diane does not agree.
Diane is about to involve the police
However, just as she is dialling the number, the door opens and Jason returns, downhearted.
"I'm sorry – I bought scratchcards!"
“I’m sorry,” he confesses, and they wonder what he has done;  “I bought scratchcards,” he goes on, but I’ve only spent £100 – and I didn’t use them.   I bought them but I didn’t . . . that’s something, isn’t it?”
"There's £200 left, Mam"
He confirms that there is £200 left, and cannot believe that he has let them down again.
"But you did control yourself in time, Jason"
Ffion encourages him with the fact that he controlled himself in time, and that is what is important.
"Don't give me cash upfront again!"
Then Rhys comes in and Jason explains, “The first thing I want to do is give this back to you – do me a favour – don’t give me cash upfront again.   I’m going to concentrate on work now – nothing else – 100%, I promise.”
"I gave you more than this"
Rhys points out that he gave Jason more than that, and he readily admits that £100 is missing.
"I can work that off – no problem"
“I can work that off – no problem at all,” Jason assures him, but Rhys advises him that he is not getting another chance.   Despite Ffion’s pleas, Rhys says there is too much going on in Jason’s life for him to be able to concentrate on doing a good job.
"I'm sacking you and APD from the contract!"
Both Diane and Ffion stress that Jason did not gamble all of it away, but Rhys’ mind is made up;  “I’m sacking you and APD from the contract.”   So saying, he walks out of the shop.
Jaclyn finds Tesni in the Deri
Tesni is sitting in the Deri, texting on her phone, when her mother finds her there and sits down by her;  Tesni informs her that Mathew is meeting her after work.
"Have you come here to have another go?"
“Have you come here to have another go?” she demands, “You can’t force me to do anything!”
"Look, I'm not happy about this at all . . ."
Jaclyn stops her and points out, “I’m not happy about it at all – I think its rash, you’re doing it for the wrong reasons, and it will change your life!
". . . but I'm going to trust you"
“But you’re my daughter, and that’s why I trust you.   If you think you’re doing the right thing, I’ll support you.”
Tesni is astonished at this change of mind,
"Reverse psychology, is it?"
and suspects that it is ‘reverse psychology’, but her mother goes on,
"I trust you to realise, before its too late"
“If you have made the wrong decision, I trust you to realise that for yourself, before it’s too late.   You know where we are – enjoy your dinner,” and Jaclyn leaves.
"I'm worried this will make you depressed again"
Diane and Jason are doing the washing-up, and Diane frets, “I’m just worried that losing this job will make you depressed again.”
"That would only play into Dylan's hands"
He assures her that will not happen for the simple reason that it would just play into Dylan’s hands, and he is determined never to do that.”
“Feeling sorry for myself won’t help anyone,” he continues,
"I think we'll have a cup of tea"
“Anyway, it won’t be long before Sara realises what kind of man he is – that’s the truth.   Positive thinking, Mam, that’s all it is.”   She thinks that it is time for a cup of tea, and Jason will put on the kettle, but Diane does not look particularly hopeful.
"I'm still angry about earlier!"
Sara has visited number 10, where she tells Dylan that she is still angry about earlier, but she does regret what she said;
Gerwyn is rather perturbed that she is here
Gerwyn comes downstairs and finds her there.
"Do you think you could leave us alone, Ger?"
Dylan would like Gerwyn to leave them alone, and he is understandably reluctant to be thrown out of his own house, but goes to the Deri.
"I don't think I'll ever stop worrying about Jason"
Sara continues, “I am worried about Jason – I don’t think I’ll ever stop worrying about him – but his mother blamed me entirely, and I just snapped!”
"You simply told Diane the truth"
Dylan reminds her that she simply told Diane the truth, but she regrets hurting Diane like that.
"It's time Jason took responsibility"
“She needed to hear it – it’s time Jason took responsibility for his actions,” Dylan says, but Sara is concerned that he will start gambling again.
Dylan replies that he does not know whether Jason will start again,
"He's never going to get better, is he?"
and she realises, “He’s never going to get better, is he?”   Again it is pointed out to her that it is not her fault, and she agrees, without much conviction, that Dylan is right.    “Perhaps Jason is happy to destroy his life, but I’m not – I want us to live together!” she declares.
"I have to forget him – and put us first!"
Dylan suggests that perhaps they should take it slowly, under the circumstances, but she insists, “I have to forget about Jason and his problems – and put us first!” She kisses Dylan.
