The account looks considerably 'in the red'
At Bryntirion, Sara is looking at Awyr Iach’s Bank statement, which does not look healthy,
and Dai brings her two slices of toast, which he puts down on top of it.
"Dai, we've got plates!"
“Dai, we’ve got plates!” she protests, but he alleges that he is trying to save on the washing-up.   Sara says that she will get out of their way now.
"It can't be easy with all the unsold uniforms"
“I’m sure it can’t be easy going to work with all those unsold school uniforms there,” comments Diane,
"Why not sell them unofficially – from the boot of the car?"
and Dai suggests that she should sell them unofficially, pointing out that the school does not have to know.
Sara will not entertain the idea, but he goes on, “Sell them from the boot of the car – parents like a bargain!”   She stresses that she is trying to run an honest business;
"I'm trying to get you out of a hole"
“And I’m trying to get you out of a hole,” he replies, “The Ashurst motto is, ‘When it snows, we’re out in our shirtsleeves’!”
Dai gets stuck into his toast
Sara tells him, sarcastically, that he is a lot of help.
"Best cappuccino since I left here"
Debbie is serving in the café, and boasts to Kath that she has made the best cappuccino since she left there;  Kath is disappointed to find she does not get it free of charge.
“No – Ricky would have to explain a drop in takings,” Debbie explains,
"What are you doing here. Debs?"
and then tells Mark that she is covering for Ricky.   “He’s in no state to work after last night’s barbecue!”   His mother warns him not to expect a free coffee, in case Ricky loses his job.
"She's as well as can be expected"
Mark asks Colin about Britt, and is told that she is as well as can be expected;
"It's a pity so many people lose their marbles these days"
Debbie thoughtlessly remarks, “It’s a pity so many people lose their marbles these days.”   Kath warns her that she cannot say things like that.
"Sympathy costs nothing"
“Sympathy costs nothing,” Colin tells her,
"She's ill, that's why she's in hospital!"
and Aaron stresses that his mother is ill, and that is why she is in hospital;  he leaves for school.
"It's not easy trying to keep his spirits up"
Colin walks up to the counter and informs Debbie, “It’s not easy trying to keep his spirits up,” and she is suitably apologetic.
"Doesn't this new coffee smell nice?"
At Y Felin, Anita pours out some new coffee;  “Doesn’t it smell nice?” she says, but then she sees Kelly’s expression.
Unfortunately, it turns Kelly's stomach
“The smell of coffee makes me sick,” Kelly tells her,
"I think I'd better contact the midwife"
so Anita thinks it wise to contact the midwife, and will not listen to Kelly’s protestations that she is all right,
"It's just morning sickness"
and it is simply an effect of morning sickness.
Anita goes on and on about having her checked out, but Kelly informs her, “Anyway, I have a funeral to arrange,”
Anita is stopped in her tracks
which stops Anita in her tracks, and she wonders if Kelly is ready to do that.
"I don't have a lot of choice"
“I don’t have a lot of choice,” is the reply, and when assured that Anita and Siôn will help her, she goes on, “It’s got nothing to do with you.”
Anita gets out her phone . . .
Anita walks out of the room, picks up her phone
. . . and contacts Sara
and dials Sara’s number.
"I don't know how much help I can be"
Sara is has just arrived at Awyr Iach, and tells Anita she does not know how much help she would be, but agrees to have a word with Kelly;  “It will do me good to leave this place for a while.”
"I bet they get their stuff made in sweatshops abroad"
DJ advises her, “I’ve been doing a bit of research into the company that stole the school contract from us – I bet you they get their stuff done in sweatshops abroad.   If we told Gaynor that, it wouldn’t take her long to come back to us.”
"I can't accuse anyone without evidence"
Sara is adamant that she cannot accuse anyone without evidence, so he comes up with another idea –
"We need to make the Awyr Iach brand more trendy"
to pay a PR company to make the Awyr Iach brand more trendy.   “We’d need a big budget for that, DJ –
"We're in the red!"
“we’re in the red!” she exclaims.
Kath has walked in with their coffees,
"Well, do you have a better idea?"
as DJ demands if Sara has any better ideas;  “It’s nice coming back to work on a Monday,” Kath says, “I ought to knock both your heads together –
"You should be ashamed, arguing like this!"
“you should be ashamed of yourselves, arguing like this, considering all that’s happened in the village recently.”
Mark and Debbie walk past the Maenan shop . . .
Mark and Debbie are walking, hand in hand, past Megan’s shop,
. . . from which the wedding dress has gone
and notice that the wedding dress is no longer on display;  “Do you regret getting rid of it?” he asks,
"We don't want any fuss"
and she replies that they do not want any fuss.   “You don’t seem to be very excited about being Mrs Jones,” Mark comments, but she has not thought much about it.
"I feel terrible about upsetting Aaron and Colin"
“I feel terrible about upsetting Aaron and Colin – things aren’t easy for them,” she says.
"The fibre optics between your brain and mouth . . ."
Mark reckons that the fibre optics between her brain and mouth sometimes snap;  “I’d better look for Colin and apologise properly,” is her intention, but is told to leave it for now.
"When's 'madam' going to forget about these school uniforms?"
Kath asks DJ when ‘madam’ is going to forget about these school uniforms;  he explains that it is not their only problem.
“You must have realised that we’re not as busy as normal,” he goes on,
"I like having a cup of tea every hour"
but she likes the idea of having a cup of tea every hour.
"We may have to cut your shifts"
“I’m not sure how to say this, but we may have to cut your shifts,” he says.
"I'm the only one who slaves away in this place!"
Kath is outraged, maintaining that she is the only one who slaves away in the place;  “All you do is sit on your backside, looking at the screen!   You should cut wages at the top!”   He suggests that Eileen could give her more work,
"Filling jam jars won't challenge my brain!"
but she protests, “Constantly filling jam jars isn’t enough to challenge my brain!   I’ll be watching television every afternoon now, thanks to you!”
"She had an uncomfortable night, whatever that is!"
Colin is at the Deri, where Dani brings him a cup of tea;  he has been on the phone to the hospital, who told him that Britt had ‘an uncomfortable night’, whatever that means.
"No-one sleeps well in hospital"
Dani says that no one sleeps well in hospital;  she informs him that Garry phoned earlier, and is staying in Portugal until the weekend.
"She asks about them every day"
Colin remarks that Britt asks about them every day,
"Why don't I come with you?"
and she offers to come to hospital with him.
"It's a shame not everyone understands like you"
“I’ll never forget how kind you’ve been – it’s a shame not everyone understands like you.”   This last statement is aimed at Debbie, who is sitting nearby.
"I've really offended him"
She tells Mark, “Did you hear that?   I’ve really offended him,” but he answers that Colin is not one to hold a grudge.   “I want to help him and Aaron – they’re obviously under a lot of strain,” she adds.
She offers Colin a free meal tonight
She goes across to Colin, and tells him, “Six o’clock tonight – there’ll be a slap up meal for you and Aaron in Maes-y-Deri!”
"We can feed ourselves"
Colin thanks her for the offer but declines it, saying that he and Aaron can feed themselves, and do not need any help.
"She's determined to organise the funeral . . ."
Sara arrives at Y Felin, where Anita informs her that Kelly is having morning sickness and is determined to organise Ed’s funeral;
". . . I don't think she's strong enough"
“I don’t think she’s strong enough – perhaps she would be willing to talk to you.”   Then she shouts upstairs to Kelly, “Sara’s here to see you!”
Sara asks for a reduction in Awyr Iach's rent
Sara asks if she can have a reduction in Awyr Iach’s rent, as they are trying to cut costs.   Anita replies that she can only cope with one crisis at a time, and Kelly is the important one;
"Yr Antur is the last thing on my mind at the moment!"
“Yr Antur is the last thing on my mind at the moment – another time, all right?”
"You must drink plenty of fluids"
When Kelly comes downstairs, she is advised to drink plenty of fluids, so she does not get dehydrated;
"Thanks a bunch, Auntie Neet!"
“Thanks a bunch, Auntie Neet!” Kelly snarls, “Inviting people over to talk about me!
"What I'm going through is totally normal"
“What I’m going through is totally normal, no big deal!”
Sara will help with the funeral arrangements
Sara gets out her laptop, saying, “Anita told me you want to arrange Ed’s funeral – let’s see what’s possible.”
Colin gets a shock, and shouts for Dani
Colin arrives at Britt’s room in the hospital and finds it empty;  he panics and shouts for Dani.
"She's seeing a specialist today"
She calmly reassures him, “The doctor’s just said that she is seeing a specialist today.
"If you had waited, instead of rushing in . . ."
“If you had waited, instead of rushing in, you would know.”
"I'm afraid of losing her, Dani!"
He says that he had a shock, seeing her bed empty, and is afraid of losing her.
"They are looking after her, Colin"
Dani emphasises that they are looking after her, and that he does not need to worry.
"You're wondering why I want to arrange a funeral"
“You probably think it’s weird – and you’re probably wondering why I want to arrange a funeral,” says Kelly,
"Before he turned into a monster, I loved him!"
“But he was my husband – before he turned into a monster, I loved him.”
"The crematorium would be best . . ."
Anita brings in cups of tea, and asks if Kelly has any idea what kind of funeral it will be;  “The crematorium would be best, I think –
"A grave would be a reminder to everyone"
“a grave is going to be there for ever, as a reminder to you and everyone else.”
"If they can't deal with it, that's their problem!"
“If everyone else can’t deal with a grave, that’s their problem!” growls Kelly, “And I need to phone the Coroner’s office to find out when they’re going to release Ed’s body.”
"These things take time, Kelly"
Anita points out that these things take time, but Kelly is anxious for closure;
"Because life goes on!"
“Because life goes on!”
"Who's stolen your jelly babies?"
Kath marches furiously into APD, and Dai, upon seeing her stern expression, asks, “Who’s stolen your jelly babies?”
"Do you know that DJ is cutting my hours?"
She wants to know if they are aware that DJ is cutting her hours.
“Hey, you can’t waltz in here, accusing us of shenanigans like that,” Dai objects,
"Jason and Sara run Awyr Iach, not us"
and Diane stresses that Jason and Sara run Awyr Iach;  it is nothing to do with her.
"I slave my guts out there!"
Kath is adamant that she slaves her guts out in there, and no-one has ever had cause to doubt her.
“Can you have a word with them, because they need me to get them out of trouble?” Kath insists,
"You don't have to be Chancellor of the Exchequer"
“Come off it, you don’t have to be Chancellor of the Exchequer to know the business is failing.   I really need this job – I’ll get on my knees if I have to!”
"Don't do that – you might never get up!"
Dai quips, “Don’t do that, or you might never get up!”
"I'll have a word with Sara"
Diane agrees to have a word with Sara, but is not promising anything.
Dani looks at a 'get well' card
Dani is looking at one of Britt's ‘get well’ cards, as Colin talks to a nurse;
"Britt won't be back for a while"
he reports that Britt will not be back for a while, as she is still with the specialist.   “She must have had a bad episode,” he assumes,
"They didn't say that, did they?"
but Dani reminds him that they have not said as much, so he should not worry.
"They're hiding something, Dani!"
“Why does she need to see a different specialist today?” he wonders, “They’re hiding something!” but Dani contradicts this.
"What if I never see the old Britt again?"
“What if I never see the old Britt again – if she’s broken to pieces?” he adds.
"You're not going to sit here, winding yourself up!"
Dani decides that it is time they left, and instructs him, “You’re not going to sit here, winding yourself up!   You can come back later, but for now, you need to rest, OK?”
"How can I expect other people to understand?"
Then Colin receives a text from Debbie, with best wishes for Britt;  he appreciates that he was rather sharp with her this morning.   “How can I expect other people to understand, when I’m in this fog?” he puzzles,
"Everyone is here for you, Colin"
and Dani calmly assures him that everyone is here for him – family, friends, everyone – and they leave the hospital.
Sara show the photos on her phone
Sara is showing Kelly photos of Ifan on her phone, and says that he is walking now;
"God knows what lies ahead for my baby"
“God knows what lies ahead for my baby,” sighs Kelly, “I remember having this discussion when I thought I was pregnant with Moc’s baby.
"You were so relieved you weren't pregnant"
Anita recalls how relieved Kelly was when she found she was not pregnant.
"Are you suggesting I should have an abortion?"
“What are you suggesting?” Kelly snarls, “That should have had an abortion?”   Anita denies that was what she meant, but merely that she has a lot to think about and to consider.
"Don't you think I'm doing that?"
“Don’t you think I’m doing that?” Kelly shouts,
"If  my baby's a problem, I'll just move out!
“If my baby’s a problem for you, I’ll just move out!” and she escapes upstairs.
Anita is extremely offended . . .
“Well, she completely misunderstood that, didn’t she?” Anita moans to Sara,
. . . but is urged to be more positive
who points out that she has not been offering the most positive answers.
Sara continues, “She’s in a dark place, Anita – we can never understand how she feels.   Just listen to her – be there for her –
"There is always professional help"
“and if that doesn’t work, there is always professional help.”
Colin sits miserably in the Deri
Colin is sitting miserably in the Deri, and Dani brings him a drink;
"You must have faith in the hospital"
“You must have faith in the hospital, because they’re the specialists.   You have to concentrate on being there for Britt when she recovers – because it’s going to happen.
"Positive thoughts, or you'll bring Aaron down with you"
“Positive thoughts, or you’ll bring down Aaron with you.”
"How was Mam?"
Aaron comes in on his way home from school, and asks about his mother;  Dani maintains that she was a bit better, and he cheers up slightly.
Debbie offers to cut Britt's hair
Again Debbie comes over and this time offers to go and cut Britt’s hair;  “If she looks good, she’ll feel better,” she suggests.
"I'll have a word with the staff"
Colin will have a word with the staff, and thanks her.
"The offer for dinner's still there"
“The offer for dinner’s still there,” she adds, “Bolognese – garlic bread and everything.”
"You need a break from the flat"
Dani urges Colin, emphasising that he needs a break from the flat, and he agrees that they will be over later.
"I'd never force you to do anything"
When Kelly comes downstairs again, Anita assures her, “I’d never force you to do something against your will –
"You mean the world to me"
“you mean the world to me, there’s nothing more important to me than getting you through this.   I can’t imagine life without you –
"When I think what could have happened to you"
“I get a shiver down my back when I think of what could have happened to you.”
"I have to sort this funeral out"
Kelly’s tears are flowing again, as she announces, “I have to sort this funeral out –
"I have to do the decent thing"
“I have to do the decent thing, so that I – and his child – don’t regret it.”
"I just want to forget he ever existed . . ."
Anita rants, “After what he did to you, Kelly, I just want to forget that he ever existed!
". . . but I'll support you 100%"
“But if that’s what you want, love, I will be there for you, and support you, 100%.”
Anita hugs Kelly
She hugs Kelly.
Diane sounds quite angry
At Bryntirion, Diane asks Sara, “Why didn’t you tell us you were cutting down on Kath Jones’ hours?   I felt a real fool when she told me!   You have to show the staff some respect – and you should have told us before now.   How long has the business been in trouble?”
"I neglected the work when Jason was ill"
Sara answers, “For months, if I’m being honest – I neglected the work when Jason was ill.
Diane knows her son was to blame
“It was my fault – I couldn’t multitask.”
"He's not scared of work – when he turns up!"
Dai says that Jason can help her now, and he is not scared of work – when he turns up, that is, but Sara does not want him to know.
"I'm afraid he'll go back to gambling"
She is afraid that he will go back to gambling to get them out of it.   “It’s not the end of the world – worse things happen to people – we’ll get through it.   I’m sure I’ll think of something before the end of the week.”
Dai and Diane are not optimistic
However, Dai and Diane are not optimistic of that happening.
