"Reminds me of what was in Mark's nappies!"
Both Diane and Kath are working to complete the Sali Mali costumes at Awyr Iach;  “Yuck – this colour reminds me of what was in Mark’s nappies when he was a baby!” says Kath, and Diane finds that rather distasteful.
"Come on – get a move on!"
DJ tells them there is still a lot to do, and urges them to get a move on.
“Hey, you cut my hours last week – you’re lucky I’m here at all!” Kath snarls, “And you should pay me double time for turning up at short notice!”
Jason brings sustenance for the workers
Jason brings in lunch for the workers, cheese and pickle for Kath, ham and tomato for his mother,
DJ does not appear to be in a good humour
and sausage rolls for DJ.
"I'll phone Izzy to tell her they're nearly ready"
He says he will phone Izzy to say that the costumes are almost ready;
Izzy is getting into character . . .
she is trying on her hairstyle at Llwyncelyn, when her mother returns from school,
. . . as her mother brings bags of costumes from school
with two large bags of costumes which the schoolchildren have made.
The children will arrive for the record attempt at about 3:45,
"Don't forget you're still one steward short"
but Gaynor says they are still one steward short.   Izzy has now put on her costume;
"How do I look?"
both she and her mother all very excited.   As they go out to the car, Izzy’s phone sounds, with the call from Jason,
Jason's call goes unanswered
but it goes unanswered.
"Kelly not back yet?"
Mark walks into the café, and is surprised that Kelly is not there;
“I don’t blame her, after everything that has happened,” Ricky tells him, and Mark says that the café will have to close, as the Sali Mali thing is starting at four o’clock.   Dai, who is sitting nearby, moans, “Sali Mali – what rubbish!   Tell me, Ricky, how old are you now?”
"You'll be taking part, anyway, Dai!"

He is told that Sali Mali is an icon, and Mark reminds Dai that he will be taking part, anyway.
"Dressing up?   No way, José!"
This is met by the usual response, “No way, José!”
"Remember what you promised Dylan?"
Eifion points out to him, “Remember what you promised Dylan?” and Ricky reminds him that Dylan agreed to help the rugby club on that condition, so Dai will be dressing up.   Dai is confident that Dylan will not be there, so he will not know,
"There will be photos in Cwm Ni and the Western Post!"
but is assured that there will be photos in Cwm Ni and the Western Post.   Eifion adds that it will be on Facebook and Twitter as well, and they must all help out the rugby club.
Mark laughs at Dai's blustering
“After that fiasco of dressing up last Christmas, I’m never dressing up again – end of!” rages Dai.
DJ is becoming fed up
Kath has donned her costume, and DJ is becoming increasingly irritated by her;
"We've been working flat out for two days"
Izzy comes in, having been confused by the message from Jason that the costumes are ready, and it is pointed out that they have been working flat out for two days.
"But the school has made them all – for free!"
“But the school has made some for everyone, for free,” Izzy advises;  Kath wonders why they have been slaving there.   “Jason said that Awyr Iach could do them, but I didn’t confirm it with him,” Izzy tells them,
This is the last straw for Sara
and DJ wants to know who is going to pay for these costumes.
It is obvious that there has been a misunderstanding, but it is not Izzy’s fault;
"We all know whose fault it is, don't we, Sara?"
DJ growls, “No – we all know whose fault it is, don’t we, Sara?   Your husband’s – he makes a mess of things wherever he goes.”
"Let's go and have a drink, Kath!"
Suddenly, Diane suggests to Kath that they go to the Deri, and they leave Awyr Iach.
"This is the final nail in the coffin!"
DJ spells it out to Sara, “This is the final nail in the coffin – I can’t carry on like this, with you mollycoddling Jason!
"Sorry isn't good enough, Sara!"
“Sorry isn’t good enough – we’ve got all these costumes and no-one to pay for them.   What are you going to do?”
"There's not much I can do, except sell the business!"
She whimpers that there is not much she can do, apart from selling the business.
Eifion looks rather downhearted
Eifion is sitting by the bar in the Deri when Izzy comes in;
"No, I don't want the responsibility"
she asks Mark if he can be a steward today, but he does not want the responsibility.
"I don't want to do it"
Then she tackles Gwyneth, who says that Gwern considers himself too old for Sali Mali, and will be going to the cinema instead;  in any case, she does not want to do it.
"Why don't you ask Eifion?"
Mark suggests that she ask Eifion, but he does not think that she trusts him;
"In any case, I'm too busy"
“In any case, I’m too busy,” he says, and Izzy flounces out.
"What have you been doing?"
DJ is continuing his tirade against Sara, “If you haven’t been out looking for contracts, what have you been doing?”
"I've been looking for a new job"
She confesses that she has been looking for a new job, as she is fed up with the responsibility, and has to think of Ifan now.
"When were you going to tell me the truth/'
He demands, “And what about me?   Have you thought about me?   If this Sali Mali mess hadn’t happened, when were you going to tell me the truth?    While I’ve been slaving away in here, you’ve been looking for other jobs on the sly – jobs that I could have applied for!”
"I've worked my guts out"
Sara insists, “I’ve worked my guts out to establish Awyr Iach and provide jobs for local people like you – if you had pulled your weight, I might not feel like this!”
"When is he going to take responsibility?"
He makes it quite clear that Jason caused this stress, gambling money away, playing poker with people’s lives.   “When is he going to take responsibility?”   Sara knows that DJ is right;  she has tried to be sensible and responsible, but she has now had enough;  however, she does not want Jason to know yet, as she does not want to upset him.
"As long as Jason's, all right, stuff everyone else!"
“OK, then, as long as Jason’s all right, stuff everyone else!” DJ summarises, but she stresses she wants to choose the right time to tell him,
"You're welcome to buy the business"
and informs DJ that he is welcome to buy the business, but he laughs at the suggestion.   “Why on earth do you think I should help you out after this?   You can stuff your Awyr Iach!   I’ve had enough of the place, too.”
Jason enters, on his hands and knees
Jason and Ifan, dressed in their Sali Mali costumes, come into Bryntirion, looking for Grandad, but cannot find him;
"Let's look behind the settee"
“Where is he – is he in the fridge?   Let’s look behind the settee.”
Dai is also dressed as Sali Mali
At last, Dai comes downstairs, also dressed up, and not looking as if he is enjoying it;
"You won't see Grandad like this again!"

he warns, “Make the most of it, because you won’t see Grandad like this again!”   All three of them leave the house.
Many of the villagers have turned out
In the Deri, Izzy is handing out the costumes made at school, and Gaynor advises the participants to be out on the pavement in ten minutes.
DJ relectantly has his hat put on
She instructs DJ to put on his hat.
"I'm more than willing to help"
Eifion apologises to Izzy for earlier, and is more than willing to act as a steward, so she is forced to agree, pointing out that there is a yellow jacket available for him.
"No, we haven't fallen out"
Her mother asks if she and Eifion have fallen out or something, and Izzy denies this.
"Crikey Moses!   You need sunglasses in here!"
Diane comes to the bar for another two G&Ts, and Dai arrives, still complaining;  “Crikey Moses – you need sunglasses in here!”   Ifan looks surprised at all the Sali Malis in there,
Diane takes a photo of Ifan and his Dad
and Diane insists on taking photos of him and his father.
"Two pints, please"
DJ is meanwhile sitting by the bar, looking increasingly angry, as Dai orders two pints for himself and Jason;  when he offers DJ one, it is refused.
"We've finished that contract for Izzy!"
“Why that long face, DJ – it’s the weekend!” comments Jason, “And we’ve finished that contract for Izzy!”
"There was no contract!"
DJ reveals to him, “There was no contract!   When are you going to learn your lesson?
DJ spells it out for everyone to hear
“Everyone’s worried about Jason – we’d better not tell Jason, in case he starts gambling again!”
"He lords it around here!"
Dai tries to silence him, but DJ maintains that Jason needs to know;  “He lords it around here –
"We're not going to get a penny for the the work we've done!"
“we’ve made 50 Sali Mali costumes for nothing, because of you!   The school made these costumes – for free!   We’re not going to get a penny for the work we’ve done!   I’m sorry, Kath, but Awyr Iach is finished – why do you think I had to cut your hours?
"Because of this selfish loser's gambling!"
“Because this selfish loser gambled everything he had – and broke his wife’s heart!   We’ll all be on the dole next week, and it’s all thanks to you.”
Mortified, Jason leaves the Deri
Jason dejectedly turns and walks out of the Deri.
"Have you seen Jason?   He knows about Awyr Iach!"
Diane goes to Awyr Iach and asks Sara if she has seen Jason;  “He knows about Awyr Iach – DJ told him everything, in front of everyone in the Deri.
"Heaven knows what he'll do"
“You’ll have to find him, or heaven knows what he’ll do.”
"I have to find him!"
Sara rushes off in search of him.
The Sali Malis are assembling
Out in the street, all the Sali Malis are being assembled;
"Is it true you're going to lose your job?"
Ricky asks his grandmother if it is true she is going to lose her job at Awyr Iach, and Mark cannot believe that it is all Jason’s fault.
"We'll start the all-important count"
Izzy addresses the multitude;  “If you can all stay where you are for two minutes, we’ll organise the photos and start the all-important count.”
Eifion looks pleased with himself . . .
Eifion looks quite pleased with himself in his day-glo jacket.   “I’m sure Mary Vaughan Jones would be thrilled that her most famous character is as popular as ever,” Izzy adds.
. . . and rushes off to round up a child
Eifion rushes off to round up one of the children who has strayed;
"Is it true you're going to home-school Gwern?"
seeing Gwyneth approaching, Gaynor asks if it is true that she is going to home-school Gwern.   On the defensive,
"I've got every right!"
Gwyneth replies, “I’ve got every right – and it says a lot about the standards at the school that he’s improved in every subject since being home.   There’s nothing to discuss!”
"Have you seen DJ and Dai?"
Diane comes to ask Izzy if she has seen Dai or DJ, and Eifion replies that they are in the bar, so she goes to fetch them.
Izzy begins counting
He announces to everyone that they are about to start the count.
Jason feels totally humiliated
Back at Bryntirion, Jason has removed his costume, throwing it down, and when Sara returns, full of apologies,
"Are you going to tell me what's going on?"
he demands, “Are you going to tell me what’s going on?”   She explains that Awyr Iach is in financial trouble, but it is more than that.
"So you lied to my face"
“Right, so when I asked you last week, when I told you I’d prefer to know, you lied to my face,” he says, but she urges him not to talk about lies.
He continues, “Yes, well, as I said, I would have preferred to know –
"It's better than finding out from DJ, in front of everyone!"
“it’s better than finding out from DJ in the Deri, in front of everyone!”
"I was tryimng to protect you, Jason"
She argues that she was trying to protect him, as DJ was so angry with him about the costumes, and Izzy never intended to pay them for the work.
He asks why she agreed in that case, and Sara replies that she did not.   “She said she was busy and she would phone back if she wanted Awyr Iach to make the costumes –
"I've done it again, haven't I?"
“didn’t she phone back?” he demands, “I’ve done it again, haven’t I?   I’m sorry, Sara – I was trying to help.   50 costumes aren’t going to finish off the business –
"It's only a few hundred pounds"
it’s only a few hundred pounds.
"I'm the problem!"
Sara is distraught;  “It’s not only the money, Jason – I’m the problem –
"I've tried so hard, and I'm tired!"
“I’ve tried so hard, and I’m tired.   I’m tired of the responsibility and the stress –
"I can't do it any more!"
“I can’t do it any more!”
"You had no right to attack Jason like that!"
The children are dancing in the village street as Diane insists that DJ had no right to attack Jason like that;  “His name’s mud now – and everyone knows our business!”   Kath wants to know whether Awyr Iach is closing,
"Is Jason still gambling?"
and Mark wonders whether Jason is still gambling.
Dai points out that it is Jason’s fault they are in this mess,
DJ has had enough of the whole thing
and by now DJ has had enough;  he says that he is going home.   He takes off his costume and hands it back to Izzy.
Mal is amused to see her pleading with Eifion
Apparently the count has not yet finished so she prevails upon Eifion to don the costume instead, much to the amusement of Mal, another of the stewards.
"And I've failed to find another job!"
“I’m sorry, Jason, on top of everything else, I’ve failed to find a new job – I’ve been to five interviews this week already – I thought it would be easier to tell you if I had another job to go to.”
"We can make it work, Sara"
He is still under the impression that they can make it work, assuring her that he will help more;
"APD during the day, Awyr Iach at night"
“APD during the day, Awyr Iach at night and weekends.”
"It's too late – I want to sell"
She shakes her head;  “It’s too late – I want to sell.”
"We've lost our home and business because of me!"
He realises they have lost their home and now their business because of him.   Sara adds,
"The company is too small to compete with the Internet"
“That’s not the only reason – we’ve lost several big contracts recently, and the company is too small to compete with the Internet.   I know that’s hard to accept, but it’s true – we don’t have a choice.”
"Right, that's what we'll do"
Jason accepts her verdict;  “If you say we have to sell, that’s what we’ll do.”
The burden is getting too much for Dai
Dai complains that Ifan is getting heavy, and that he wants to go home, but Tyler insists they have to to stay to make the record official;  Kath points out that another two would break the record.
"We've beaten the world record!"
Izzy makes the announcement that she has good news, “We’ve broken the world record!”
This occasions applause from all the participants, and as the official photograph is taken,
"Don't get too close to Eifion – you can't trust him!"
Gaynor comments to Izzy, “You and Eifion seem to be very good friends, but be careful.   Don’t get too close – you can’t trust him!   He took some photos of me a few years ago and tried to make a fool of me in the village.”
"Right, after three – one, two, three . . ."
The entire group shout,
"Happy birthday, Sali Mali!"
“Happy birthday, Sali Mali!” but Izzy does look rather concerned.
