Ed is wearing a determined look
We see the face of Ed, who is driving a car down a country lane
He drives into a farmyard . . .
and into a farmyard;  he stops, gets out
. . . removes his bag from the boot . . .
and removes his bag and a blue and white check blanket from the boot,
. . . revealing a bloodstain
revealing a bloodstain on the carpeting.   He looks at it, then closes the boot lid.
The secluded cottage
He walks past the farmhouse door.
Ricky finds the café in darkness . . .
In the village, Ricky arrives at the café door to find it locked;  as he can see no-one inside,
. . . and leaves a message for Kelly
he dials Kelly’s number and leaves a message.   “Mam’s present is in the café, and I need it before the party.   Can you phone me back, please?”
DJ has not seen Kelly
Then he meets DJ, who is carrying a large bag, but he has not seen Kelly either;  “The café is locked up and Mam’s not answering her phone –
"The surprise is on, I suppose"
“she knows that it’s in the Glyndwr at noon, so the surprise is on, I suppose.”
DJ receives a message from Debbie
DJ receives a message on his phone from Debbie, and looks uneasy, so Ricky asks if everything is all right;
"What's in the bag, then?"
he then enquires what is in the bag, and is told that it is nothing.   “I’ll see you later,” DJ says, and seems to be in a hurry to get away.   Ricky looks up at the windows of the café flat and wonders what is happening.
"Haven't you got any good news for us?"
In the Deri flat, Colin is speaking on the phone to DI Davies;  “Haven’t you got any good news for us, then?” he asks,
"What about CCTV?"
“What about CCTV?   Has she used her bank card at all?”
Garry also makes enquiries
At the same time, Garry is also ringing round to see if anyone has information.
"Chester and Catrin will have to be informed"
Dani says that Chester and Catrin will have to be informed, but he insists, “Finding Britt is more important at the moment.
"How about getting out there and looking for her?"
By this time, Colin is losing patience with the DI;  “Wouldn’t it make more sense to be out there, looking for her?” and then apologises for his outburst.
Dani tells him that the police have to follow some sort of protocol, and Colin wonders where Britt is;  “I just don’t understand how this has happened – if she had just taken her tablets!”
"It's not like she hasn't disappeared before"
Dani is confident that she will appear;  “It’s not like she hasn’t disappeared before, is it?” but he points out that this time it is different.
"Is there any news?"
Aaron has just got up and wants to know if there is any news about his mother.   When told that there is none,
"When can we go back home?"
he wants to know when they can go back home, but Colin does not know,
Garry is at a total loss
and Garry looks helpless.
Ed has a bucket of water . . .
At the abandoned farm, Ed returns to the car with a bucket and cloth,
. . . and removes the bloodstains . . .
with which he quickly removes the bloodstains from inside the boot,
. . . but is very nervous
looking around nervously, in case someone is about.
He closes the boot lid
Satisfied that the job is done, he closes the lid and returns to the house.
"You should cancel this party, Mark"
Mark is confirming what time they will be able to go into the Glyndwr, but his mother is convinced, “You should cancel this party, because Debbie’s making a fool of you, Mark!
"You have to face facts"
“Look, I know it’s difficult, love, but you have to face facts.”
"Not a word to Ricky, mind!"
They hear Ricky coming in, and Mark does not want Kath to mention a word of this.
"The café's closed and there's no sign of Kelly"
“You’re never going to believe this,” says Ricky, “The café’s closed, there’s no sign of Kelly – and Mam’s present is in there.”
Kath informs him, “You’ve got worse things than that to worry about, I’m afraid.” Despite Mark’s protests,
"Your Mam is having an affair!"
she goes on, “Your Mam is having an affair!”
Mark finds the prospect very troubling
Both Ricky and his father look very troubled.
Hywel is playing with Esther
Rhys makes a cup of tea while Hywel is playing with Esther;  there is a knock at the door, and Rhys finds that it is Ffion, who has brought Arwen.
"Esther will be staying here with me"
Ffion is not happy when Hywel tells her that Esther will not be going to the party, but will be staying with him.   He gives the excuse that his leg is playing up.
"Sitting here, feeling sorry for yourself?"
“So you’re just going to sit here, feeling sorry for yourself?” she snarls, “Esther shouldn’t miss out – Arwen was looking forward to seeing her.
"You want to go with Arwen, don't you?"
“You want to go with Arwen, don’t you, Esther?”
Arwen and Esther do some colouring
Hywel then concedes that she can go, and Arwen joins Esther to do some colouring.
Rhys hands over Esther's things
In the kitchen, Rhys tries to act coolly toward Ffion and hands her a bag of things for Esther;  Ffion takes it without a word, then,
Ffion will comed back to collect Hywel
as she leaves with the girls, promises to come and collect Hywel later, ignoring his protestations that he is not coming.
"That's what she wanted us to believe"
Kath is arguing with Mark, “What about that weight loss thing, then?” but Ricky insists that his mother just wanted to keep fit.   “That’s what she wanted us to believe, didn’t she?” Kath goes on, “I like your mother – you know that –
"She's having a mid-life crisis – I know the signs!"
“but you didn’t hear her on the phone – she was laughing at you!   She said you’d believe anything she tells you!   She’s not with Helen in Llanelli – she’s not coming to the Glyndwr!   I don’t expect you to understand – she’s having a mid-life crisis – I know the signs!”
"Mam wouldn't have an affair!"
Ricky is quite adamant that his mother would not have an affair;
"That's what everyone said about Dyff!"
Kath remarks, “That’s what everyone said about Dyff – and look what happened there!”
"Everything will be all right, Catrin"
Garry is speaking to Catrin on the phone, assuring her that he will let her know straightaway if there is any news;  “And please don’t worry – everything will be all right.”
"It was better that you told her"
He tells Dani that Catrin was understandably upset, but Dani stresses that it was better that he told her, rather than her finding out from someone else.   When he tried to contact Chester, he only reached an answer machine, and he refuses to leave a message.
Colin wants to do something
Colin, who has been sitting silently on the sofa, cannot bear it any longer;  “I have to go out and look for her!” and Garry says he will go with him.   Dani appeals for them not to start this again, as they should be here to support Aaron.
"Aaron's not in his room!"
Garry goes to his bedroom to speak to him, but soon returns, advising, “He’s not there!”
Ed looks at his bloodstained clothes . . .
In the abandoned farmhouse, Ed, stripped to the waist, looks at his bloodstained garments,
. . . and replaces them with new ones
then puts on a brand new white T-shirt and a denim jacket.
He can hardly believe what he has done
He looks at himself in a mirror.
Aaron is in the alley
Aaron is sitting on the ground in the alley and looking at his phone;
"We just want to know where you are"
meanwhile Garry and Colin emerge from the Deri to look for him.   Garry leaves a message for Aaron, “Listen, no-one’s angry with you – we just want to know where you are.   Please phone me when you get this.”
"He's round the corner"
Colin asks a couple of people if they have seen Aaron, and one of them replies, “He’s round the corner.”
"I should have told you about the tablets"
Colin is very relieved to find him, and Aaron admits, “I should have told you about the tablets.”
"If I'd just got help sooner . . ."
Colin replies that his mother is an ill woman, but Aaron continues, “If I’d just got help sooner, and told you what she said –
"She said sometimes she wishes she wasn't alive"
“she started talking really odd, when she wasn’t taking her tablets.   She said sometimes she wishes she wasn’t alive.”
Things are not looking good
Garry and Colin look at each other, pessimistically.
"Right, Hywel, this is the solution!"
Ffion returns to collect Hywel;  “Right, you’d better get yourself ready – I can’t leave you on your own all afternoon.   This is the solution,” she informs him, as she reveals that she has borrowed a wheelchair.
"I'm not going anywhere in that!"
“I’m not going anywhere in that!” he growls, “I shall look like an old man!”
"You're not sitting here, feeling sorry for yourself!"
Ffion is unmoved, insisting that he is not sitting at home, feeling sorry for himself.   He then agrees to come with her, provided he uses his stick, but she will not allow him to make the injury worse.
"Don't drop any trifle on it!"
“A wheelchair is the best option – and it will be a lot more comfortable,” she assures him, “But we’ve borrowed it – so don’t drop any trifle on it!”   Hywel realises that Ffion’s mind is made up, so he is about to struggle upstairs to get changed.
"The matter is forgotten, Hywel"
“Listen, Ffi, I’m sorry about the other night,” he says, but she assures him that that the matter is forgotten, as it was just a misunderstanding.
Ffion tries out the wheelchair
While he has gone, she tries out the wheelchair for size.
Colin feels completely helpless
Garry brings Colin a mug of tea, as he sits morosely;
"Aaron wants some space before the police arrive"
Dani reports that Aaron is all right, but just wants some space before DI Davies arrives.
"Their job was to look after her"
“I thought that everything would be all right after she was admitted to hospital,” groans Colin, “Their job was to look after her, wasn’t it?   It makes no sense that someone can run away – they should have enough staff.”
"There's no point in thinking like that"
Dani says that there is no point in thinking like that.
“If anything has happened to Britt, I won’t be able to live with myself!” Colin tells them, but Dani points out that he was not to know that this would happen.
"I've let her down!"
“I’ve let her down!” he sighs.
Hywel comes downstairs
Hywel returns downstairs, and Ffion comments that he looks much better now;  “You don’t have to do this,” he points out, “You’re a good friend,”
"The girls will be queueing up!"
and when Rhys comes downstairs, he adds, “Look at him in his new shirt – the girls will be queueing up!   The fairy godmother has decided I can go to the party.”
The 'Fairy Godmother' decides they should go . . .
Ffion thinks that they should go now, or they will miss Debbie arriving at her own party.
. . . and takes charge of the invalid
Hywel sits in the wheelchair and Ffion manoeuvres it towards the door.
DJ still has the large bag
DJ brings his large bag into the shop flat and carefully puts it on the table;
"Are you completely sure you want to do this?"
his mobile phone rings and he says, “Hiya – yes, I will.   Are you completely sure you want to do this now?   It’s not the type of thing you do lightly.   Yes, I have everything – I can’t wait to see you, Debs!”
Off he goes – to see Debbie?"
He picks up the bag, also a suit in a protective cover, and leaves the flat.
In the abandoned cottage . . .
In the secluded farmhouse we see Ed going outside, and as he pauses by the window,
. . . Kelly is tied to a chair . . .
the figure of Kelly becomes visible, tied to a chair.
. . . and shouts vainly for help
There is the sound of the car driving away, and Kelly, in the darkened room, desperately attempts to free herself, sobbing and shouting for help.
